I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

I did, however, shed a little year when I nostalgically watched McCain’s speech when Obama won. I was so DESPERATE for Obama to win I didn’t really give McCain a second thought. But....what a calm, gracious, articulate man he was. I bet he would have been a fantastic POTUS.

I have always hugely respected and admired John McCain. He would have been a fabulous president. His courage, integrity and patriotism served America very well indeed. I will always detest Trump for denigrating his military service because he was a POW.

The avian hordes have almost emptied the feeder in a single day. I'll go fill it before it gets dark. DH is off picking up DD from work, then we have a Zoom call with DS and MIL at 5:00. It's grilled Teriyaki chicken and rice for dinner after the call.

@PersisFord I'm a bit relieved that your chicken only yielded two meals. Had it gone on feeding the multitudes for weeks that would have posed a theological conundrum. Smile

Thanks to lockdown we had a lie-in. DH went for a run, I stayed home & cleaned the bathroom because I ran yesterday & my ankles ached this morning.

Wrapped a few Christmas presents this afternoon then went for a walk in the fog to get my steps in on my fitbit.

Takeaway for tea - first one in 2 months.

What a lovely weekend.

Frownette · 08/11/2020 22:08

I've got 2 texts from ex which made me feel panicky and I haven't opened them yet. I thought he had stopped trying to contact me.

I'll try to breeeeathe and do a face mask (not the ones we've become accustomed to, a beauty one)

Fontella · 08/11/2020 22:21

I went for a bike ride earlier to pick up veg to make a roast for me and my (grown up) son. I loved the bike ride, even though it was raining. I loved the fact that I cycled a mile or so to a little independent trader rather than drive to the supermarket. And I loved the fact he sold me a jar of Colman's Mustard for £1 and I'm certain it's more than that in supermarkets.

A nice dinner, and a nice day!

Frownette · 08/11/2020 22:24

What did you do for your roast, @Fontella?

PersisFord · 08/11/2020 22:39

@Frownette that sounds unpleasant (texts not face mask). Good luck!!

@MissConductUS yes, trump reached a new low with that!

soddingkitten · 08/11/2020 23:13

In other news....our whole chicken only lasted 2 meals as I made soup from the carcass and leftovers today and we ate it all.

I like that these threads are truthful and honest as well as dull.

I did a big pile of ironing earlier, dancing along to cheesy pop and dance music, while DH and our boys watched Star Trek Discovery together. I got to the bottom of the basket for the first time in weeks. 😇

Frownette · 08/11/2020 23:23

@soddingkitten you're so good! I never do ironing and deliberately buy clothes which I don't have to.

Did sodding dance along with you?

soddingkitten · 08/11/2020 23:33

Sodding was out for hours this morning, came home as we were eating our late roast lunch and half-heartedly attempted to snatch some, then climbed into his radiator hammock for an epic nap. He slept right through my ironing disco fever. I seem to be out of favour anyway. He is giving all his top quality daytime and evening cuddles to DH and DS2. I haven’t had a look in for days. 😞 I only exist to top his food bowl up, though that is also my primary role for DS1 and DS2. 🤷‍♂️

soddingkitten · 08/11/2020 23:38

Lovely neighbour sent me a sweet photo of Sodding with Shyboy outside her patio door this morning. Shyboy tolerates him reasonably well, as Sodding follows him around like a shadow. We are so glad they aren’t fighting and seem able to share their territory amicably.

MissConductUS · 09/11/2020 00:29

We had a very nice Zoom call with DS and MIL. He's getting his stuff organized to come home. I can't believe we pick him up in two weeks.

MIL has been out to do her own grocery shopping, which surprised us a bit. DH had been doing it for her and driving over with it so that she didn't have to go out. She's 92 so quite vulnerable, but still sharp as a tack. She's a retired university professor.

Sodding, don't take it personally. You'll come back into the cuddle rotation soon, I'm sure. Smile

Ahhh that is so sweet. Perhaps they will become friends! Seems like the intention is there but in their own sweet time.

I plucked up the courage to read ex's texts but they were fine, just asking how I was and sending a link to one of his songs, so I'm not obligated to respond.

Have face sheet on and look like hannibal lector in the cage. Perhaps I may look better tomorrow...? This is the point of face masks, right?

Worried about what will happen to Britain

mathanxiety · 09/11/2020 04:39

Phew, Frownette. I always get knockedy-kneed when I see exH has tried calling or sent a text.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 09/11/2020 06:06

To calm things down again:
It is as dark and cold as predicted.

HelloDulling · 09/11/2020 06:10

Ah, Welsh lockdown is lifted. I need to work this morning, but this afternoon I can go to IKEA to get bits and bobs for the bathroom.

DD back to school today too. The online learning works well for her, but she’s looking forward to getting back.

HelenaJustina · 09/11/2020 06:20

I woke up naturally at 5.50am which was fortunate as last night I forgot to set the alarm for 6am.

halfpasteleven · 09/11/2020 06:48

And I woke naturally at 6.30 which is handy as I must get up at 6.45 without disturbing DP and DD who are both beside me...

Taswama · 09/11/2020 07:30

I am going for a run with DP at lunchtime. We always used to run together BC, then it was a treat 2 or 3 times a year when we had overnight visitors. But since the kids have been back to school and us both wfh, this will still only be about our third run due to diary clashes.

Spudlet · 09/11/2020 07:41

DS is cold, but is refusing point blank to put on a pyjama top, t-shirt, hoodie, jumper, jacket, or any other form of top half covering. Instead, he is marching around with one of my tea towels wrapped around his middle. Because of course he is 🙄🙈

ReallySpicyCurry · 09/11/2020 08:48

I'm sitting in the car park at work 20 minutes early. But I only left the house five minutes earlier, and I stopped for petrol. K
I swear my commute is a time slip. Other times I'll leave bang on time and drive straight to it on a clear road, and barely make it through the door on time

TheBeeatAmbridge · 09/11/2020 09:28

DH and I had sausage sandwiches for breakfast this morning as a rare treat.
It is phenomenally foggy here today. Little blue car has gone for an MOT.

Squirrel26 · 09/11/2020 09:43

I had a fascinating dream last night that I was in Boots trying to decide what type of hair bands to buy. My psyche is sooo interesting. Hmm

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 09/11/2020 09:45

I just got in the car after walking the dog just as the heavens opened.

Champagneforeveryone · 09/11/2020 12:54

I'm at work and 6 hours in. This is utterly dull and boring today in the true spirit of the thread.

Taswama · 09/11/2020 13:02

Just back from my run with DP. It was further than I would normally run and faster. I had to stop for a walk twice and was still faster than my usual speed. DP has suggested we do it again next week.
