Hi all

I couldn’t find the new thread so here is one I set up. It’s windy out there! Glad I weeded my flowerbeds a couple of days ago.

I have no songs. My favourite would be You’ll be back from Hamilton. By back I mean lockdown.
My area’s figures are dropping like a stone and still they are talking about tier 3. They have gone down 25%!
On the Council Facebook page people are really complaining, good to see.
My plans for Halloween are watching Strictly then watching Nightmare on Elm Street. Hope everyone else has something nice to do.

WouldBeGood · 30/10/2020 22:10

I’ve made a Boris pumpkin and a Nicola pumpkin

DS handed in his first project design of a face mask. Tutor said you were not impressed with this project were you. DS said nope. So I came to uni to learn building design. So tutor has set him a building design task, to design a building to hold a heart transplant surgeon and his patient in isolation for 14 days prior to the operation.

DS says that there is a current running through the uni to lever in covid at every leve on many coursesl in his opinion. He reckons it is politically motivated by outside influences way above the lecturers heads. Smart kid I have there, very proud of him.

See my course hardly talks about it - and the implications for my course with Covid are pretty huge (in terms of things like rehabilitation AND having to do work via fucking Zoom shit). Think all our staff and the students are just bloody Covid-ed out and trying to ignore it!

I'll give him a more interesting one

Design a brothel, with at least 4 rooms set up with glory holes. Ensure that the reception area is covid safe, general washing facilities can be enforced and no clients or staff have to come into direct contact

or maybe not.......
**@SirSamuelVimes* @justasking111*

About 4 years after I split up from my ex, kids were by then 11 and 12. He told me I wasn't doing it right, I should be x y z. I said fine, they're older now. If I'm not doing it right, maybe it's your turn.

The backtracking was hilarious (I knew he would, there was no chance he would have them, he could barely cope with a weekend)
I don't know what had got onto him. He's normally a fully functional human, often more patient with the kids' nonsense than I am to be fair. Maybe the two days off was enough to make him forget how annoying they are!

Anyway, he's redeemed himself by bringing me tea and quality street in bed. And cheering the fuck up.

FFS the Daily Mail (sorry) is reporting that Boris will announce a full lockdown next week as it’s the only way to ‘save Christmas’.

NannyGythaOgg · 30/10/2020 22:29

@SirSamuelVimes
Looks like he's a keeper. We are all entitled to meltdowns ... but only briefly take it out on our partners/sharers.

I live alone - mostly it works

@PinkSparklyPussyCat

FFS the Daily Mail (sorry) is reporting that Boris will announce a full lockdown next week as it’s the only way to ‘save Christmas’.
Given that the "unsaved" version of Christmas looks remarkably like a lockdown with added tinsel, we're fucked either way around Sad

Remember how those first days of lockdown felt like that weird Every Day is Like Sunday (Morrisey for the mix tape) feeling around Christmas/ New Year.

WouldBeGood · 30/10/2020 22:39

If they lock fine again they’d better bloody well keep it over Christmas!!!

MercyBooth · 30/10/2020 22:44

Pleased to hear hes got an actual appointment @DominaShantotto

MercyBooth · 30/10/2020 22:49

Noooooo Not over Christmas, I want to see my mum. Who has already sacrificed her health for the good of others.

Whats made me really angry is the pretence that its all about protecting the vulnerable, NO Its all about using the vulnerable as a tool to emotionally blackmail everybody else.

Because vulnerable people ill with non Covid illnesses are seen as collatoral damage.

FUCK OFF BORIS!!

Willow2017 · 30/10/2020 22:50

Great news about the appointment
Fingers crossed it all gets moving now.

MercyBooth · 30/10/2020 22:55

Because if it was all about protecting the vulnerable they wouldnt be left for so long to cope with the symptoms and pain of the non Covid illnesses they have.

MercyBooth · 30/10/2020 22:58

And the fact that the papers have been briefed AGAIN on a Friday night leading people to stress out over the weekend shows how little respect they have for us.

Stick it.

justasking111 · 30/10/2020 23:01

Drakeford admitted today the county lockdowns DID NOT WORK!! so why would the tier 1,2,3,4. England could have saved themselves a lot of grief and bitten the bullet earlier. Mind you in Wales we will be biting the bullet after xmas again. It is going to be a seesaw winter. Spain said this week they thought they would be doing this till May next year.

All this to protect the NHS which we all know is fooked.

justasking111 · 30/10/2020 23:03

Despite the interventions of our MP and following a pre op assessment we think to shut her up, there is no sign of OHs operation happening.

Are covid patients cheaper than cancer, diabetes, heart patients I ask myself?

MercyBooth · 30/10/2020 23:06

Ppl on Twitter saying same as me

" Its all about using the vulnerable as a tool to emotionally blackmail everybody else. "

That's what I've been trying to say and couldn't find the words. Would you mind if I borrowed it?

MercyBooth · 30/10/2020 23:09

Your welcome to, its taken me a while to articulate it myself. Largely because ive been so bloody angry.

Can I add one for the playlist? 1933 by Frank Turner. I think there was a bit of FT love on a previous thread and I am a big fan.

"Stop asking musicians what they think"
He said softly as he poured himself a second drink
And outside, the world slipped over the brink
We all thought we had nothing to lose
That we could trust in crossed fingers and horseshoes
That everything would work out, no matter what we choose
The first time it was a tragedy
The second time is a farce
Outside it's 1933 so I'm hitting the bar
But I don't know what's going on anymore
The world outside is burning with a brand new light
But it isn't one that makes me feel warm
Don't go mistaking your house burning down for the dawn
Don't go mistaking your house burning down for the dawn
If I was of the greatest generation I'd be pissed
Surveying the world that I built slipping back into this
I'd be screaming at my grandkids: "We already did this"
Be suspicious of simple answers
That shit's for fascists and maybe teenagers
You can't fix the world if all you have is a hammer
The first time it was a tragedy
The second time is a farce
Outside it's 1933 so I'm hitting the bar
But I don't know what's going on anymore
The world outside is burning with a brand new light
But it isn't one that makes me feel warm
Don't go mistaking your house burning down for the dawn
Don't go mistaking your house burning down for the dawn
For the dawn
Aren't you ashamed of this?
I surely hope that you are
We live in a society that's maybe heading for Mars
But down here we still have a shower of bastards leading the charge
Outside it's 1933 so I'm hitting the bar
But I don't know what's going on anymore
The world outside is burning with a brand new light
But it isn't one that makes me feel warm
Don't go mistaking your house burning down for the dawn
Don't go mistaking your house burning down for the dawn
Don't go mistaking your house burning down for the dawn
Don't go mistaking your house burning down for the dawn

I felt like this when Drakeford after locking us into our county for a month, oops that did not work, locked us all up on Friday. I was so angry upset, that has settled down into quiet resignation, you can only rage for X amount of time. As someone said earlier we are back to every day being a Sunday.

However, our police are non existent, there were lots of cars on the roads this afternoon almost felt normal. The welsh are not as petrified as they were in March when the roads were deserted.

justasking111 · 30/10/2020 23:59

I am off to bed, I have a sore arm from flu jab. Another sore throat, every time I have to wear a mask for any length of time my throat hurts for the rest of the day.

Goodnight all. I will leave you with the wise words of Pratchett
