Hi all

I couldn’t find the new thread so here is one I set up. It’s windy out there! Glad I weeded my flowerbeds a couple of days ago.

I will be feeding the kill your granny mob for the next 3 days, I’ve just been for a facial, tonight I’m going out for an Italian meal and tomorrow having my hair cut.
Following on from the ‘ falling in a rut and risking a paramedics life’ posts, I’m a paramedic and I don’t give a flying fuck if I have to go out to someone who has broken their ankle in a rut. Covid would struggle to get through the elevnty billion layers of PPE we have to wear and it would make a change from going to people who’ve bought some random shit off a bloke in a pub to smoke and now they feel a bit strange. 😆

@DominaShantotto

I see now they're all over the site begging and imploring us not to shop at Amazon because of small retailers.

Sorry fuckers - you're locking me up - you don't get to dictate how I obtain otherwise unobtainable goods.

This.

@NastyBlouse

Hello *@DesireAs* and sorry about your dad. Flowers What a kind, human thing that restaurant did though. I get really 😡 that it’s places like that, run by people with good heads and kind hearts, that are likely to be affected disproportionately badly by this fuzzy-ended lockdown.
Completely agree, it gives me the rage too. Thanks everyone for the Thanks
NastyBlouse · 02/11/2020 18:01

Pfft re Amazon. It’s the new Woolworths. It’s extremely handy when you need bath salts, two dozen Furbies and some harem pants all from one place and delivered to your door.

I also sell on it. I have a side-hustle writing smut for Kindle. Blush It’s not making me rich but it’s a route to an audience.

@Weneedmusicandtheatre

A bad day here. Shattered and DC decided today was the day to remind himself how to grab a handful of my hair and refuse to let go. Am ashamed to say I shouted at them. Checked email later to discover that the small amount of singing work that recently came in has, unsurprisingly, disappeared with no guarantee the tiny amount left in December will actually happen either. This is normally the time of year where an day with no carol service/corporate gig (if not two) is rare and it pays the tax bill and a chunk of savings towards the leaner months in the new year. Feel shit as a mum and no longer a singer, so what am I actually for?
Any mum who has never lost her temper with her children is either a robot or from Stepford. Oh.

So you are not a bad mum at all. You are a mum in a stressful situation and you are needed.

And keep up your singing. We all need it. Especially for the speakeasies that will start appearing. How are you with jazz?

MaudesMum · 02/11/2020 18:14

I'm slightly surprised (and incredibly delighted) to discover that my evening class is keeping going. The government paper says "universities and adult education settings should consider moving to online settings where possible". The class is in pottery, which really can't be moved online, so the people running it have decided it can continue. Who knows how long it'll last, but it'll give me one evening a week where I actually get to talk to people in real life.

justasking111 · 02/11/2020 18:18

Have just ordered a little Frozen LED lamp for grand daughter from a craft maker on E Bay.

No sex for singles. DS working on covid projects architecture OH suggested his next project was designing glory holes for single folk Grin left DS speechless and blushing.

Oh look our hospital on social media has asked us not to go in because they are so busy, well it aint covid my nurse friend verified that, it is because they are once again short staffed. Always happens on a Monday for some reason hmmmm....

TheOrchidKiller · 02/11/2020 18:24

And here we go with the over privileged shit again. Some doctor or viroligist on BBC News advising to use a separate bathroom??!!

This advice was in the shielding letters sent out in March. It also advised sleeping in a separate bed to your partner & eating meals in a different room. Oh & sitting one metre apart on a sofa. It's also the guidance if you get covid. Unrealistic for many people, & pretty miserable to live like that, especially if you're ill.

I've seen threads on the 'rona board about children who are self-isolating because there's a case at school, & their mum's posted that she's confined the poor kid to their room for 2 weeks but sits outside the door to keep them company.

Seriously? Hmm

smallandimperfectlyformed · 02/11/2020 18:24

@Weneedmusicandtheatre if your child is very little they probably won't remember being shouted at and it hurt you, you aren't a robot and I am sure you don't shout all of the time. I don't know you but I bet you aren't a shit mum. Times are so tough for singers and other artists, I am sorry that you are going through this. Flowers

MercyBooth · 02/11/2020 18:26

Independent retailer on the London news just pointed out how unfair it is that supermarkets can sell non essential while she has to close.

They wouldnt. Would they?

Weneedmusicandtheatre · 02/11/2020 18:27

Thanks @ISaySteadyOn. Much appreciated. DH asked if I wanted to ask about an extra day in nursery this week as he’d never seen me this low. I think some sleep will help but might take him up on his offer another time.
I’d love to sing jazz but (sadly) I think even 40 years of fags and whisky couldn’t make me sound convincing.... some Verdi opera or even church music sure.....

AcornAutumn · 02/11/2020 18:27

Yes, I think they would. I can see her point but of course I don’t believe in lockdown at all.

I live in a one bedroom flat

FFS! They expect people to engage with this.

We're the same and we've already come to terms with if one of us gets it the other will.

I worry about DH catching it as he's over 60 which is now classed as vulnerable but there's not a lot we can do.

MercyBooth · 02/11/2020 18:38

YY Pink DH is 70 and has COPD.

TheOrchidKiller · 02/11/2020 18:41

They'd better fucking not.Angry

MercyBooth · 02/11/2020 18:47

You may remember him from previous threads, Andrew Lawrence on the second lockdown.

TheOrchidKiller · 02/11/2020 18:49

And I don't get all the fretting about having to queue outside shops again that I've heard people talk about. I mean, I understand not wanting to queue, but don't see why we need to. We've not queued for months, why the need to instigate it again just because of lockdown?

Or have more people suddenly descended on the planet, all suddenly needing to go to Tesco at the same time?

I gather more people have snapped up online slots so in theory the supermarkets should be lovely & quiet...

TheOrchidKiller · 02/11/2020 18:51

Ha ha, thank you, Mercy

SirSamuelVimes · 02/11/2020 18:52

I have a recurring Asda delivery slot but I'm still planning on going to Aldi once a week. I like seeing people in real life and mooching through the middle aisle of doom/wonder.

Not after the complete dog's breakfast that was made of doing this in Wales, I think. More people signed the petition against this rule than have ever signed any other Welsh Government petition.
Taswama · 02/11/2020 18:58

DS2 had an inset day today so we went to our local country park. 2 mums and kids from his class were there but wearing masks while ordering and waiting for their food (all outside). I said hi when I recognised one behind the mask but it is so difficult to have a normal interaction like that.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 02/11/2020 19:00

I think you and I may have got a little heated with posters on an age difference relationship thread once!
MercyBooth · 02/11/2020 19:03

YY Pink I remember Smile

TabbyStar · 02/11/2020 19:07

That's why the Terrence Higgins Trust recommends not kissing, wearing a face mask during sex and favouring positions where you're not face-to-face.

Just a normal sex session then 😁.

Also sorry about your dad DesireAs

I've been quite enjoying the Tweets challenging the data that SAGE are using, e.g. Carl Henegan mobile.twitter.com/carlheneghan/status/1323308538203115525

DrDiva · 02/11/2020 19:08

@DesireAs so sorry about your dad. How lovely of the restaurant though.
And @Weneedmusicandtheatre solidarity from a fellow musician. (I think you might have answered the question I ask all singers of opera - if you could only have Verdi or Puccini for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

To the resilience thing I add my personal most rage-inducing comment, “god does not send you anything you can’t cope with.” Angry
I. Can’t. Even.
