Hi all

I couldn’t find the new thread so here is one I set up. It’s windy out there! Glad I weeded my flowerbeds a couple of days ago.

Anyone else catch the bit about the army doing the logistics for mass testing of whole towns and cities which will start in days??

justasking111 · 31/10/2020 19:33

@Blobby10

I LOVE the way the bbc cut Boris (who keeps autocorrecting on my phone to virus!) off to go to strictly 😂😂
I was annoyed wanted to see it through to the end but OH wanted Mountain Men.

Sorry what now!
DominaShantotto · 31/10/2020 19:35

The rapid tests are only in fucking pilot - at two unis and thats only just started! (Durham and DMU) so he is more full of shit than normal

justasking111 · 31/10/2020 19:36

I rewound it twice to make sure, it was when he was talking about cheap self testing kits just after that.

I thought so but you can see how their mind is working. Going to be standing outside the supermarkets testing us before we are allowed in.

I said back in April what we needed were cheap home kits we could buy and store like pregnancy ones to use if we thought we had covid. And Amazon were a good distributor, got my ass whupped for suggesting those evil capitalists could do that. Grin

MercyBooth · 31/10/2020 19:51

More people now pointing out that the NHS is supposed to protect us not the other way around.

I'm sorry it's all my fault. Every time I have so much as 1 days leave this year either the weather is shit or we are on lockdown. Monday is covered by shit weather but clearly on 16th the weather will be good. I do have 6 days booked from 6/12 so I think it's safe to assume either lockdown will be extended or we will be under 2 ft of snow.

MaudesMum · 31/10/2020 20:03

It's also so shit to announce this on a Saturday. There are so many businesses which have been working stupid hours to get themselves up and running, and now - on a Saturday evening - are having to work through the implications of closing in a few days time.

Strangely enough the signs are there for a bloody cold winter.

Four thousand deaths a day predicted, bullshit, I went back and checked the worldometer for India, USA Brazil, they did not reach half that figure on any day from March onwards.

"England's chief public health officials tonight unveiled grim graphs that show how all models of the coronavirus second wave predict the number of deaths will exceed SAGE's 'worst cases scenario'.

At the heart of the scientific data supporting Boris Johnson's decision to plunge England into a second lockdown was a graph comparing the predictions of a number of academic modelling groups including Imperial College.

They show the number of deaths peaking at 4,000 deaths a day without intervention, their reasonable worst case scenario for the winter had predicted a maximum of around 800 deaths a day.

Speaking at a Downing Street press conference tonight, Professor Chris Whitty and Sir Patrick Vallance said that England is currently experiencing 'around 50,000 new cases a day'. "

I've got the Coronavirus thread blocked. Makes no difference, they are all over the AIBU and chat boards. Half the time MN won't even move them

Just Fuck off with it all

Don't blame yourself, I am also responsible. I booked a hair appointment & dared to think about booking concert tickets.

DD has just chucked out a table of 6 spoilt & over-priviliged teens from the restaurant where she works. They are younger than her but she recognised them from when she was at school. They don't live together, & tried to buy alcohol but none are 18. Whatever you think about the rules, the restaurant can't afford to be fined (council actually do make spot checks, & shut down a bar the other week).

Sonicthehedgehogg · 31/10/2020 21:02

Ah feck it all

Going to have to dig out my big brolly so I can still see my mum and sisters. Do you reckon DD 19m would breach Da Rulez if I met my mum for a walk?

Loving Strictly, well needed this year. Not the CGI though, who the fuck thinks that looks good? Confused

No, no, it's my fault. I had a good day today and enjoyed myself, you see. We cannot have that.

I really can't see it. I don't think people feel like clapping any more. The only reason I'd clap now is in the event that any of these pricks resign.
justasking111 · 31/10/2020 21:22

Remember this..... I do.

Chunkebuh, HeartofAmerics, United States, 2 hours ago

The Imperial College team published a 20page report on March 16 forecasting that an uncontrolled spread of COVID-19 could cause as many as 510,000 deaths in Britain and as many as 2.2 million deaths in the United States. In Britain, these astronomical figures triggered a sudden shift in the governments comparatively relaxed response to the virus, the New York Times reported at the time. The predictions, which were considerably wide of the mark were the result of radically deficient modelling,

wanderings · 31/10/2020 21:31

I'd take part in Boo for Boris, if someone does it.

Let's all keep hoping that Saint Boris keeps his fucking word about ending tier 4 on 2nd December, and that him being three hours late for his conference was just a blip...

DominaShantotto · 31/10/2020 21:32

Oh we've got the "horror of ventilation compared to a mask" meme doing the rounds again. I may have ripped to shreds the "it destroys your vocal cords as the tube is rammed down your throat" bit of incredibly fucking dodgy anatomy.

Waiting for the COVID test that spears your brain one to be posted next. And then Giant Doctor 2 - The Sequel of Despair.

Nah, dark evenings means that no one will want to venture out onto their doorstep in the cold with a saucepan lid.
If they do it at least there will be an excuse to draw the curtains shut, & I won't have to hide in the back of the house, like last time.

DominaShantotto · 31/10/2020 21:38

The car horns broke me - it was probably the worst part of lockdown - knowing that if I got DD2 off to sleep (which she couldn't do because of the sad in her brain) the twats would be braying on their car horns for 10 minutes and bitching about the non clappers in the street.

Done a lot of those tests now & have so far managed to avoid piercing my frontal lobes. Strangely enough, so have all the other people I know who are testing. Perhaps it's because the swab is designed to not go up that far?

Taswama · 31/10/2020 21:46

My mum was due to visit next weekend, luckily I have managed to bring it foward and she's here now. So I'm glad it was leaked yesterday as I would have been gutted if they had announced it on Monday.

Yep - at one point I had the head and neck anatomy books out figuring out how exactly they were proposing to get the swabs up that far!
Theluggage15 · 31/10/2020 21:49

I was talking to a pharmacist a few weeks ago about flu and he said that the flu season really starts properly in December, peaking February. So those brilliant scientists have not only kicked covid from the summer to the autumn but are now kicking it right into flu season. Super!
