Corbyn Suspended

Good. His arrogance and refusal to apologise (ever, for anything) has come back to bite him.

His response today just sealed his fate

Let's not count chickens too soon; Starmer probably had little choice today, but Corbyn's suspended not expelled and there's an investigation to come

I've no idea how that'll go or what input Momentum will have, but the Hard Left seem so deluded that they probably won't give up their hero that easily - not if what happened with Ken Livingstone, Derek Hatton and Chris Williamson are anything to go by

It'll be useful, though, as a barometer of where Labour's sympathies lie right now

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/10/2020 19:02

I do take it you all be applauding if Boris Johnson was suSpended due to his comments about Muslim Women and Letter Boxes or are the rules different the “fabulous Bojo” who people seem to adore.

noblegiraffe · 29/10/2020 19:09

Yep, Boris Johnson is a racist, misogynist, lying psychopath who has dragged this country into the ground to serve his own ego and the worst thing is that he wouldn’t have been so successful if there had been an effective opposition.

Does this means he is not longer the MP of Islington?

noblegiraffe · 29/10/2020 19:15

No, it means he is now an Independent MP instead of a Labour one.

You can’t sack an MP.

Viviennemary · 29/10/2020 19:19

I hate Labour's mealy mouthed hypocrisy. And that MP that is being investigated fraud. They're worse than the Tories.

^^

This.

As someone who left the Labour Party over its anti-Semitism, misogyny and lurch to the far left, the thing I'd probably rank as the most unforgivable act of all Momentum's many cluster fucks was making Labour so unelectable that Boris Johnson - Boris fucking Johnson - won by a landslide.

Viviennemary · 29/10/2020 19:29

A more unlikely hero than Corbyn would be difficult to imagine. The left are totally deluded and have learnt nothing except how to do an even better job of stopping themselves being elected.

Lonelykettleshed · 29/10/2020 19:38

For the good of the country Labour needs to learn the lessons from the report, make the necessary changes and move on. Personally I think that this means without Corbyn because he will never be acceptable to a large swathe of the electorate. We need a strong opposition to effectively challenge the Government. No Government can do the best for the country without scrutiny and some of the issues currently come from ineffective opposition.

enjoyingscience · 29/10/2020 19:43

He’s not the messiah, he’s a very naughty boy.

Good riddance I say. The narcissism of him and his ‘inner circle’ was so clear to see, he did huge harm to the country by failing to provide effective opposition.

@LampLighterInn

As a member of the Jewish community I am sick to death of that pestilence Miriam Margolyes being rolled out as a spokesperson for whether or not Corbyn is antisemitic. She doesn't speak for all of us, she claims to be proud of her Jewishness yet throws us all to the dogs when she denies the right of the State of Israel to exist. This is a form of antisemitism and is a definition of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) of what exactly constitutes antisemitism, the same definition that Corbyn rejected and refused to accept.

These accusations against Corbyn didn't happen all at once, he allowed years and years of antisemitic MP's and their comments to slip through for years before it was finally taken seriously. Anyone can research and find the many instances he repeatedly associated with, sympathised with and engaged in antisemitism - remember him laying wreaths on the graves of the terrorists who murdered the Israeli Olympic team in Munich? The notorious mural? Describing Hamas and Hezbollah as 'friends'? He even wrote a foreword in a book which claims we control banks and the press! This is vintage antisemitism, along with the so-called blood libel and matches the conspiracies his mamza of a brother, Piers, a Holocaust denier.

He has commented that the charges of antisemitism were exaggerated in the same way that Piers Corbyn has stated the 6 million lost in the Shoah was overstated.

Do me a favour and stop wheeling out self-hating Jews to add weight to this topic. Corbyn has a history of being a terrorist sympathiser and an antisemite and he got found out and suspended.

This was the best bit of news since Captain Tom Moore received his knighthood.

Co-signing literally all of this
Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/10/2020 19:46

Not sure if anyone's linked this yet, but if anyone wants to read the actual report as opposed to "reports of the report" it's here: www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/publication-download/investigation-antisemitism-labour-party

It coul hardly be worse Sad

Maireas · 29/10/2020 19:46

Corbyn always seemed permanently irritated by people and their stupidity. In interviews he was patronising and dull.

anon444877 · 29/10/2020 19:46

If boris was hauled over the coals by the EHRC I'd be absolutely delighted - why would you think that people that don't like anti semitism in the Labour Party would be fans of Boris?

LampLighterInn · 29/10/2020 19:49

Thank you @OnlyFoolsnMothers

@Awwlookatmybabyspider it's not an either or situation. Boris Johnson's Islamophobia and comments regarding hijab were prejudiced and utterly deplorable.

anon444877 · 29/10/2020 19:49

A Labour Party investigation that reinstated Corbyn after this independent report would be 'courageous'.

Dragongirl10 · 29/10/2020 19:50

Good, he deserves it.

CandyLeBonBon · 29/10/2020 19:54

I think Starmer needed to do this to gain credibility and show he means to change the party. Hopefully there's a chance labour can be rebuilt to offer a credible alternative to the shit show currently in power

Nice one, he's a f**king prat!

BluTangClan · 29/10/2020 20:56

@KnightsofColumbusThatHurt

JC has always come across as the type of bloke who would throw his own Nana under a bus if he thought it would make him look good to certain people.

I welcome this move, let's push Labour forward.

It reminds me of being at school and being made to apologise for something I hadn't done.

He's too principled (stubborn) for his own good (as is RLB). Most other two/three/four faced politicians would go round kissing arses rather than stick up for themselves.
Starmer was stabbing him in the back when JC was leader and couldn't wait to get rid of him.

BigWholeBean · 29/10/2020 20:58

Sebastianthecrab So well put. Thank you for stating it so well!

whitewineandmagnums · 29/10/2020 21:04

This makes me pleased on some many levels.

Not least because of the self-righteous far lefties on my social media feed mocking anyone who suggested JC was anti-Semitic not so long ago.

Not so smug now, are you?
