He's on R4 this morning, Saturday Live, talking about coming out and of course his new book. I think this is tasteless - he talks about the upset and trauma/impact on his family, yet he has the cheek to write a book about it and plug it on national radio! Not that he is short of a bob or two, with his TV shows and We buy any car.com (that offers as little as it can get away with for your car). It seems that little will get in the way of him exploiting any opportunity to gain publicity and make money - that is the view I have of him.

@Velvian: I had to turn it off. I quite often have to turn off Saturday Live though. I can't bear the cringe self indulgence when the guests get going.

Hopefully the wife will get half of the book profits if/when she divorces him. I can only assume that, if she’s in the book, she ok’d it.

I’ve got a friend in this situation whose H has just moved out saying he is gay. 20 years of marriage and children. She is destroyed. Feels like her whole married life has been a lie. There were no signs. She certainly Doesn’t think her H is brave.
I have a friend in the same situation. She was beside herself with rage when PS was being lauded all over the bloody place for his bravery.

Oh come on, as if anyone believes his wife and children weren't also in on the act! Coming out was a business decision, it's all carefully managed and she's the manager!

Back when he and Fern presented This Morning Fern had to apologise for using a gastric band, she was not happy about having to do that, however same episode Kerry Catona was on and it was when she was slurring her words. Both Phil and Fern went for her, I got the impression it was to deflect from Fern having to apologise at the beginning of the episode. Never liked them after that and as for Holly I get the impression she thinks everyone loves her!

According to Joan Collins everyone in show business has know he’s gay for years. Which makes the sudden coming out to a nationa newspaper very interesting doesn’t it? I wonder why he did that?...
@Rhine a national newspaper was about to make public that he had being having an affair with a very young male runner on the show.

I don't think there is anything wrong about him writing a book. Some people will be interested. His family may have encouraged him to do so for all we know, they often do.

From my pov, not particularly interested because I'm sure he won't be saying anything that hasn't been said before but it may be cathartic for him to get it all out once and for all.

He was either on the radio with Jeremy Vine or Steve Wright a few months back. The simpering and you're so brave from whichever one it was made me want to vomit.

Always thought he was gay, my ex H, decided to inform me after 20 years of marriage, he was gay, only married me as a naice respectable front for his middle class family. So no, not brave

For me it was when they were both giggling pretending to be still drunk from the previous awards show, which has now turned in to smirking fake sexual innuendo giggling. I stopped watching for ages but it was ok in the back ground and I was agog at holly reading his letter out and Phillip sat there all sad.

The ONLY thought I had was ‘Christ I hope his wife is ok how embarrassing he is doing this on National TV to her!’

I worked with him when he was working in musicals.He was arrogant and attention seeking even then. And we wondered if he was gay.

Gay or straight I find him boring as hell. The same with Holly Willoughby, they are both ‘beige’. Someone must like that sort of thing because they’re always on TV but they really are tedious.

Entertaining men in his flat and a story was about to break with his friendship with a runner called Matthew McCreddy. ITV is protecting this awful man

Gosh, there was so much deleting of comments about him when it all happened, think he had his whole pr firm all over it.
Holly and him are both awful.
I’m sure he was loving Jason D all dressed up tonight, there’s a story there too most likely, I wouldn’t be surprised.
