Does your washing machine go on on a weekly basis??
I'm a single mum to a two year old and it's been on 6 times this week already!
Dread to think how many times it'd be on if I had a husband too!

About 3-4 loads a day, eg I wash the towels twice a week, that's 6 bath towels and daily hand towels and tea towels, bedding once a week (my sons have the teddy bedding so each set fills one load) 10x school trousers, 10 x shirts and 5 x jumpers then all the day to day clothes, throws and dog blankets etc. It soon adds up!

Chocolatehobnob9 · 19/10/2020 15:43

I'm gathering from this the older they get the more washing to be done 😂

Probably 6 or 7.
Two adults (including DH who commutes to work by bike and runs at least 5 times per week, and a few sets of gym/running kit for me), and a toddler who wears cloth nappies overnight and isn’t quite reliably dry in the day.

Expect it’ll be slightly more once DD is here too and in cloth nappies full time!

Bluesheep8 · 19/10/2020 15:43

There's just DP and I and I tend to do 3 washes per week.

Chocolatehobnob9 · 19/10/2020 15:44

@Bluesheep8 yes pre baby and when I was with my ex I'd do about the same.. Stick the washing machine on timed to come on after 11pm too!

About 10 loads a week for three adults. Dd needs a complete change after work as does Ds (gets very dirty) plus gym clothes about 5 times a week. Then you have what they wear in the evening, my clothes, bedding and towels.

It's never ending.

wintertime6 · 19/10/2020 15:48

I'm on my 4th load today 🙈

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 19/10/2020 15:53

I do about 3-4 loads per day, I have 6 children though so it's never ending.

badlydrawnbear · 19/10/2020 16:03

Probably 10.
2 adults and 2 primary school DC. My work uniform has to be washed seperately from other stuff at 60 degrees, I only have 2 uniforms and do usually 3 shifts a week, depending on how close together the shifts are I can sometimes do both together but sometimes have to do just 1 so it is washed and dried for the next time I need to wear it.
I also wash put a wash on each night of family clothes, then towels/ bedding are an extra load each week but sometimes I stick a couple of towels in with a normal load, then DH often doesn't put his clothes in the washing basket and I refuse to go round and collect them from wherever he leaves them so he will stick a load of his stuff in when he needs to.

rorosemary · 19/10/2020 16:04

Almost daily or daily. Now just two of us (but 1 on the way). My DH insist on two clean towels every day after his shower, plus he has clean clothes on daily plus he likes to do his sport almost daily. He generates a lot of washing....

Plus we sleep separately due to snoring, so extra linnen to wash. Plus the blankies on the couch for the cat.

Compared to him I'm a filthy lazy bugger 😁

LocksMyth · 19/10/2020 16:10

Just me and 4 young adult offspring. We each do our own washing including bedding, towels etc.

After years of laundry piling up, it's bliss just to do my own once a week.

davinns · 19/10/2020 16:10

2 times a day

KitKatastrophe · 19/10/2020 16:13

We use washable nappies so that's 2 washes a week.

We also have pets so I wash their blankets once a week.

Clothing, bedding, towels etc for the four of us probably averages 4 washes a week.

doubleshotespresso · 19/10/2020 16:13

I'd say as a rough guide I do 3 washes a day Monday to Friday, that's for two adults and one DC

Mrsbclinton · 19/10/2020 16:14

Family of 5 here and I would say at least one wash per day. If there is really good weather I could do three in a day!!

Squirrelblanket · 19/10/2020 16:15

We do three per week; two clothing and one bedding and towels. Two adults.

MayFayre · 19/10/2020 16:15

Twice a day most days

2 adults, 2 teenagers, 2 dogs.
Lots of muddy clothes and towels from dog walking.

JMAngel1 · 19/10/2020 16:16

Around 12 per week - I have a very sporty husband who also has a uniform change each day so he generates a lot of the washing.

Bloodybridget · 19/10/2020 16:18

Two adults, on average 2.5 times a week, I reckon! Neither of us change bedlinen more than once a fortnight, and we're not particularly mucky types.

MrsJBaptiste · 19/10/2020 16:18

4 of us here (2 adults and 2 big teenagers)

I'd say I do darks twice a week, whites once a week and bedding once a week so on average, 4 loads a week (maybe 5 some weeks)

Nothing like some of you on here - e.g. 3 washes a day for 3 people!!!

larrythelizard · 19/10/2020 16:18

Most days. Me, DH and toddler DS. DH and me both do some sort of sweaty exercise most days, occasionally more than once so we create a lot of washing!

doctorhamster · 19/10/2020 16:18

3 x dark
1 x white
1 x towels
2 x bedding
2 x sports kit

2 adults, 2 kids.

continuousmonotonousbeep · 19/10/2020 16:21

Madness, multiple washes per day?!? Fuck that. 2 adults, 6yo lives here & 11 (eow) we do 3 to 4 per week on average. All that wasted water, energy and time baffles me.

janj2301 · 19/10/2020 16:22

2 adults 1 coloured wash every week one white alternate weeks

DowntownFrown · 19/10/2020 16:24

I do 10-14 loads a week Confused there’s me, dh and 2 school aged dc. I put all colours in together because I’m lazy and have a 10kg washer and dryer. I do wash pjs and uniforms every day and I go to the gym daily so need to wash my gym clothes every day but not sure where the rest comes from? Maybe I’ve got another family living in the attic...
