I need your help, hive mind
I will be opening a shop, an independent selling clothing (lesser known brands, maternity stuff) and locally made jewellery etc
I’m struggling with the name
This is my shortlist:
Blossom&robes
Luxeduck
Pushvelvet
Stellarobes

Do you have a favourite and any other suggestions would be appreciated? Thanks!

I'm sorry I don't like any of them, they just sound like random words together. I think the best names are just simple or memorable.

Unless you want to do something personal like

Mum and Me
Fee and I?

Did you say it's vintage type stuff? Where will you sell online?

ohidoliketobe · 18/10/2020 14:44

I love Blossom and Bee! Or something like Phoebe's Closet - to emphasise the clothing aspect.
Sorry OP, really not keen on any of your shortlist.

tectonicplates · 18/10/2020 14:46

I prefer Blossom & Robes, although there's a chance it might be mistaken for a florist.

ladyandthechocolate · 18/10/2020 14:46

Thanks all for your suggestions
I do like blossom & bee
It will not be predominantly maternity but I guess that name does not limit me. Thing is, with clothing retailers, the name often does not really describe the nature of the business. However, I feel it should capture the ethos and the sort of shop it will be.
I will sell good quality basics in natural fibres, ditto for maternity, lesser known brands (scandi, danish) and locally made jewellery and accessories. It will have a community feel but I feel the shop will appear modern and simplistic but welcoming.

Although I wonder if Blossom & bee sounds a bit twee

Phoebe's Attic

ladyandthechocolate · 18/10/2020 14:49

Also, would you come to my theoretical shop and if so, what would you like to see there?

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 18/10/2020 14:53

Love Blossom and Bee

winterisstillcoming · 18/10/2020 14:57

Love phoebe's attic

Or slightly more modern Phoebe's Loft

BigBadBox · 18/10/2020 14:59

Something to do with 'classics' maybe

myhobbyisouting · 18/10/2020 14:59

Everyone is doing bees. What town are you in?

CatteStreet · 18/10/2020 15:03

Local & Global

wishing3 · 18/10/2020 15:04

I think ‘Blossom and...’ bit robes might make me think nightwear/kaftan. Blossom and Bloom (link to maternity)?

RaininSummer · 18/10/2020 15:05

Sorry, not wild about any of your names but definitely not luxeduck.

CatteStreet · 18/10/2020 15:10

Perhaps Phoebe's Finds (or Phoebe Finds) - to emphasise that your stuff isn't run-of-the-mill, you pick it carefully, searh for and source it?

Smallsteps88 · 18/10/2020 15:11

Phoebe’s robes

Phoebe & Blossom

nc1962 · 18/10/2020 15:12

I like blossom & bee as well

Bummsbet · 18/10/2020 15:13

The concept of your shop sounds great! But, if I was out shopping and didn't know the shop, I actually wouldn't go in if it was named any of your options. I wouldn't associate those names with anything I would be interested in.
It's needs to be simple and more contemporary.

Blossom immediately scream children's wear to me. It's very twee. Bloom is a better word.
Luxeduck is awful, I have no idea what it even means.

I think Stella or Velvet on their own both sound really nice. Or like a PP you could just use your daughters name, Phoebe.

gubbbbbddaaaa · 18/10/2020 15:14

But most of the retailers that don't describe what they do are well known .. you are starting out so if you want people to google maternity shops etc or realise you are maternity it needs to say so..
Retail is brutal especially at the moment .. be careful about putting too much money into it!

Hyperfish101 · 18/10/2020 15:17

I like Phoebe’s Finds.

Or just Phoebe?

What number is your shop. There’s a successful independent near me called Five. 🤷‍♀️

VentventVENT · 18/10/2020 15:19

Whatever you pick as you’re going to sell online, think about your domain name/Facebook page name etc. Check what’s avaiaoblr as far as the domain goes, to junk about how and “and” will work etc.

ladyandthechocolate · 18/10/2020 15:19

@gubbbbbddaaaa I know, I’m quite wary. I really think there’s a gap in the market where I am but I do feel apprehensive. I had thought about being purely online but I don’t know if that will be enough

OP posts:
Marisishidinginmyattic · 18/10/2020 15:20

This might sound daft but I wouldn’t use Phoebe in the name. You want a name that people can spell easily and a lot of people get the O and the E backwards and not everyone uses autocorrect. So if you want to have any online presence, you’re giving yourself a disadvantage before you even begin.

ladyandthechocolate · 18/10/2020 15:22

@Marisishidinginmyattic that is actually very true, everyone spells her name Pheobe!

OP posts:
gubbbbbddaaaa · 18/10/2020 15:23

I think there is a gap for 'cheap' maternity but not expensive .. that is well covered . Which area are you in?
