I need your help, hive mind
I will be opening a shop, an independent selling clothing (lesser known brands, maternity stuff) and locally made jewellery etc
I’m struggling with the name
This is my shortlist:
Blossom&robes
Luxeduck
Pushvelvet
Stellarobes

Do you have a favourite and any other suggestions would be appreciated? Thanks!

Cosycush
Cosy Cave
Mrs (Whatever your name starts with)'s Trinkets
Trinkidink

ladyandthechocolate · 18/10/2020 19:39

La déesse (goddess in French)
Divinité
I think I am leaning towards a foreign name

I like the sound of Kist too & it would be great for logos etc, but doesn't it mean coffin in Swedish?

What about Styl, or Skon

Asterion · 18/10/2020 19:54

Blossom & Bee sounds like a florist Flowers

parrotonthesofa · 18/10/2020 19:55

L armoire de phoebe? ( phoebe's wardrobe)

SpeedofaSloth · 18/10/2020 19:56

Blossom and Bee, or Blossom and Duck.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 18/10/2020 20:15

I like one word shop names. The most successful tearoom in my town, which is absolutely full of them, is "Juliets".

How about Gems?

goingtotown · 18/10/2020 20:50

Femelle (French for female)

goldenharvest · 18/10/2020 20:54

Jeans&Gems

craftyjan · 18/10/2020 20:55

I agree with @Lobsterquadrille2 about a one word name.
Mimosa - (that's what I would name my dream shop)
A longstanding shop similar to yours in my nearest town is called Apricot.

Anoisagusaris · 18/10/2020 20:55

There is a similar shop near me (except it doesn’t do maternity) and it’s called Stella.

ladyandthechocolate · 18/10/2020 20:59

Kist does mean coffin in Swedish, not such a great thing!
I wonder if femelle sounds like a sanitary product! @goingtotown

Yes, maybe Kist only works in Scotland - where the word means box /chest! :)

I kind of want to open a gift shop called Kist now myself...!

nancywhisky · 18/10/2020 21:03

actually it kind of means coffin here too - buts its just a generic word for 'box' .( I suppose the English equivalent 'box', also means coffin. All about the context!)

Aquamarine1029 · 18/10/2020 21:04

The Velvet Duck

PolloDePrimavera · 18/10/2020 21:13

Scandify

Or two female Swedish names, like: Astrid & Elin

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 18/10/2020 21:31

Velvet anything makes me think its an ann summers type shop
Luxedux definitely sounds like a toilet cleaner

I agree with everyone who says one word names are better

Phebe's
Lykke (means good luck)
Lagom (means just the right amount)

snowspider · 18/10/2020 21:49

I would move away from the twee

Pin
Mat
Bun
Beet

FairlyOddmother · 18/10/2020 21:51

Mellow & Bright

Chevronsoup · 18/10/2020 22:19

Phoebe Bloom

WeAreFromThePlanetDuplo · 19/10/2020 02:59

Malin?

EmmaGrundyForPM · 19/10/2020 03:22

To me, all.the suggestions around Blossom or Bee make it sound very twee. I imagine a children's shop. Similarly, a shop with the word Attic in the title would make me think vintage and second hand.

If you choose a title based on Scandi then it makes it hard if you ever want to move away from that.

In my local town one of my favourite independent clothes shops is called Cuckoo. Nothing to do with what they sell, and Cuckoos don't have a great reputation. But the clothes and accessories are lovely. i wasnt attracted to the shop because of its name but because of its window display.

Theres another town I shop in regularly where the womens clothes shops are called
Rachel's
Tatty Broyd
Plum Green

Tatty Broyds always has a lovely window display. It's an odd name for a shop that sells very nice quality clothes, I imagine the owner was warned against it!
