Hello SilveryPuss

Clawdy · 17/10/2020 17:55

I had the flu jab yesterday and my arm is a bit sore.

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 17/10/2020 17:57

My 3yo has been hard work all day. He refused to eat his pasta, screamed that he didn't like pasta, then screamed when I put it in the bin.

He will be going to bed soon and I will have a gin and cassis.

MissConductUS · 17/10/2020 17:57

I had the flu jab in August and my arm still feels sore if I lift it over my head a certain way.

With all of this talk of brownies, I had to take one out of the fridge and eat it after lunch, purely for quality assurance purposes. It was delicious.

Had a full blown anxiety attack out of nowhere in front of the vet today when I took my poorly cat in, I was hyperventilating and crying too Blush

Mooselaurels · 17/10/2020 18:01

I managed to take a really good (for my skills) picture of Mars (the planet, not the chocolate) a couple of nights ago. I'm telling everyone that will listen.

I posted a really poor picture of Mars on the last thread, so I'm listening! Please post your picture here if you can.

Are you a fellow amateur astronomer?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/10/2020 18:15

Yes please do post the picture.
There usually is too much light pollution where I am ...

dementedma · 17/10/2020 18:15

I saw a lovely furry caterpillar while out walking today

Mooselaurels · 17/10/2020 18:31

Yes! I bought a beginner telescope to try and see the comet neowise after being disappointed with naked eye view from my house. The telescope didn't turn up until the comet was gone, but I've been looking at other stuff since, totally hooked.

It's an animated gif, no idea if it will display properly here...

Hope you and your cat are OK now Aimee Bear

Just baking bread in our new breadmaker.

soddingkitten · 17/10/2020 18:42

It is recognisably a planet. 👍

I only got showered and dressed 2 hours ago. I have been pottering in my pyjamas and a cosy hoodie. I was hoping Sodding would give me cuddles today but he loves DS1 the most. As we are all home and he has options, Sodding has been glued to DS1 most of the day.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/10/2020 18:45

Moose
Thank you and yes, it moves!

bearlyactive · 17/10/2020 18:45

Can't believe I didn't notice that the old thread had ended!

My unexciting news is that the card machine where I work decided today that it no longer liked us and was going on strike. Cue a huge PITA all day. On the plus side, we managed to get around it somehow!

Imissmoominmama · 17/10/2020 19:33

I went on a long walk today (17 miles over hills and moorland). My feet really hurt now.

Frownette · 17/10/2020 19:52

I was a bit startled just now, I tend to go to a supermarket in the centre for my weekly bottle of wine and the bloke said:
Ahh, your usual, and I got very embarassed and said that sounds terrible.
End if the conversation he said we only have a few regulars, and you're a regular.

I only go in once a week and tend to think I'm incognito in my mask!

TheSilveryPussycat · 17/10/2020 19:52

I watch Mars quite a lot in the evening, while sitting on the back step smoking.
Some nights there's too much light pollution to see any other celestial body.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/10/2020 20:00

The marten is back - I do not mind him living in my roof but I do mind him being so loud. I always wonder how such a small animal can make so much noise.

PersisFord · 17/10/2020 20:05

I was in a really bad mood today for no reason at all. So after our usual Saturday chores we lit a fire and read our new library books in front of it for most of the afternoon. One child is reading Harry Potter book 1, the other has moved onto book 2, and I read the hunger games prequel (which was in retrospect a bad move for someone feeling anxious and unhappy). We burned loads of wood then DH came home from work, got more in from the shed and made scrambled eggs for supper. A good day snatched from the jaws of despair.

PersisFord · 17/10/2020 20:06

I am not an astronomer but am Shock at that photo!! How do you take it?

I saw the space station dash across the sky in the summer, it was amazing!

sueelleker · 17/10/2020 20:33

I saw the space station dash across the sky in the summer, it was amazing! Me too; my SIL rang me to say it was visible, and I rang my sister to tell her.

Gilead · 17/10/2020 20:34

Enjoying a costa skinny latte in my hospital bed.

Taking the mars photo(s) was a test of my patience... For those who want to know, it involves:

Telescope (celestron astromaster 130)
2 X Barlow lens
Cheap(ish) astronomy camera (svbony sv305 pro)

I took a 3 minute video every 10 minutes.
Processed the best 25% of frames using "autostakkert"
Sharpened the resulting images in registax
This gave 14 decent pictures, which I then made into a gif using GIMP.

That's 2hrs 15 minutes of photography work, plus the processing time. It's nothing compared to some people's results, but considering the equipment I'm using (beginner's telescope) and my newbie skills, I'm so happy with it.

I've ordered a better telescope now, so when it arrives I'm hoping for even better results.
