I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

Contemplating sending a text to someone who has a lot on at the moment.

Hopefully not at 4.22am. Wink

Sodding is ‘receiving messages from the mothership’ this morning. You know what I mean: crazed look in his eye, ears back and startling at things unseen in the corner of the room, on the ceiling, behind me etc. We’re staying out of his way and praying for the curtains, hoping the broadcast ends soon.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 17/10/2020 09:09

@soddingkitten

I wonder what they're screaming at? Never studied fox behaviour!

It’s fox sex noises IIRC.

Yes, vixens, apparently! (I just looked it up).

Just the sort of thing to liven up conversation at the breakfast table.

I know it well. We call it visiting planet Nip (catnip). He wants to play. Daisy loves these spring toys:

Andiker Cat Spiral Spring, 12 Pc Cat Creative Toy to Kill Time and Keep Fit Interactive cat Toy Durable Heavy Plastic Spring Colorful Springs Cat Toy for Swatting, Biting, Hunting Kitten Toys

She bats them around and they go flying, then she chases them. Chasing the dot from a laser pointer is also a great way to wear out a cat or kitten.

It's 4:15 and I need to get out for my run. I have to take DD to work by 7:00.

Thank you for my birthday wishes! I had a lovely, uneventful day. The highlights were getting a new bike tyre for DH and finding some art on our walk. Then when DS got home we watched Moana (again. DS is a Maui fan). It was really relaxing and just what I needed, tbh.

Today I have discovered that the sticky name labels aren’t all that sticky in the wash, so I’ve ordered yet more woven ones, and also ordered some more KT tape for my various rickety ankles and knees and things.

Ddog also occasionally gets messages from above, although less so now he’s a senior citizen. He had a moment last night though, growling away at fresh air when he woke up! He must have been dreaming 😳

I have slept for 13 hours following my night shifts, so hugely refreshed.

We have a tiny mouse living in our jasmine hedge that potters out onto the bird feeder to eat. DH is laying in wait with his camera to catch it, the mouse appears to wait for DH's arms to get tired before venturing out Grin

Frownette · 17/10/2020 11:27

Your birthday sounds lovely Spudlet :)

It's so dull and unexciting here that the most pressing items on the horizon are deciding which tea to make, shower, put a wash on.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/10/2020 11:55

A swarm of birds (possibly geese) were coming across the sky in a southwards direction in flight formation. Right above our house they seemd to stop for a debate and started circeling.
After five minutes the went back into formation and continued south.

The bathroom is as clean as it can be with normal efforts, a 60°C wash is on and the shopping is done, too. There will be pork chops, potatoes and kohlrabi for midday.

vanillandhoney · 17/10/2020 12:01

I had an hour to kill after dropping a clients' dog off at the groomers, so I cleaned the bathroom and tidied up the spare room. I also vacuumed.

I've now picked the dog up, showered and now I'm cooking some sweet potato fries.

Bagadverts · 17/10/2020 13:38

Went shopping and didn’t buy anything as the things I wanted weren’t available in my size.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/10/2020 13:57

@MissConductUS

You mean Fahrenheit in you recipe? I hope?

Orangeblossom7777 · 17/10/2020 14:25

I met a lovely little robin in the park. He was so tame! I fed him some crumbs of flapjack, until pigeons noticed and swept in.

BusyDreaming · 17/10/2020 14:26

Thought about making minestrone soup but felt it was too much effort. Made red pepper and tomato instead.

missmeg3leg · 17/10/2020 14:54

Rock n roll Saturday here 😂.....🤘

Took old microwave to the tip
Picked up food shop on way back
Threw some stale welshcakes out to the goldfinches
Lit a fire
Now lounging on sofa getting sucked into “Four in a bed”

Frownette · 17/10/2020 15:04

Outside having spiced tea at present.

Squirrel26 · 17/10/2020 15:25

I’m watching one of those TV programs where people put all of their money into moving to a place they don’t know, and opening a business doing something they’ve never done before. And then wonder why it’s stressful.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus

Yes, the 325 degrees was Fahrenheit, as I noted in my email. 163 degrees is the Celsius equivalent.

Miss
Thank you for confirming, I should have copied that into the recipe but I did't and felt suddenly insecure Smile and I am nowhere near my mails.

My oven is about 20 years old and lets me have 50°C steps and guesses for in between.

Squirrel26 · 17/10/2020 16:21

Started to fold some washing.
The dog, who has been perfectly happily off doing dog stuff on his own for the last two hours, decided he needed ALL MY ATTENTION, NOW NOW NOW. He stole a bra and ran away downstairs with it, then rolled around on his back in the middle of all the nice neat piles I’d made.

Would anyone like a dog? He’s slightly defective...

SpeedofaSloth · 17/10/2020 16:31

I had the electric fire on for a bit this afternoon,it was a bit chilly in the living room.

Frownette · 17/10/2020 16:37

@Squirrel26 that sounds like too much excitement for me Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/10/2020 16:49

A hooded crow (Nebelkrähe) just landed and inspected the remnants of my begonias and drank some water.

vanillandhoney · 17/10/2020 16:53

I've just had an early dinner for I go for my last dog walk of the day. I had cauliflower and Wensleydale soup with bread.

Tomorrow is my first full day off since July as DH is covering my Sunday client. I plan on sleeping. A lot.

MissConductUS · 17/10/2020 16:57

150 C will be fine. Bake for 35 minutes.

In other news, we hadn't heard anything from the shower door company about our replacement door, after the broke the first one. So I called and spoke to a lady who said they were closed today but that she would call me on Monday.

The weather forecast is for overnight temperatures to be at or near freezing, so I'm bringing in most of the plants from the deck. I brought in the giant aloe plant last night and later discovered a small frog that had hitched a ride. Daisy was watching him as he clung to the wall in the living room.

The brownie recipe (there were pictures in the last thread) is available upon polite request. They're called Death by Chocolate Brownies and are made with melted chocolate chips, butter, eggs and a little flour. Just PM me with your email address if you want it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/10/2020 17:04

We are making them after the current batch is finished - the recipe has been "metrisized" and is waiting on the kitchen pin board.

Temperatures are going down here, too. DH has brought the pepper plants in. They are everywhere as he hasn't yet made space for them in his office.

SpeedofaSloth · 17/10/2020 17:08

Talking to DD today, she wants to make scones next time we bake, which will probably be half term. She wants sweet, I want cheese so we will do half and half.
