Strictly was totally worth watching for Bill Bailey alone. He looked like he had very much fun.

Purpleice · 26/10/2020 19:09

I cut dh’s hair today (Welsh lockdown). Have discovered a lovely new sauce that we had with our fish tonight- it had preserved lemons and coriander in it.

SpeedofaSloth · 26/10/2020 19:18

DS ends 14 days isolation tomorrow. He needs a haircut, I offered to do it with the lockdown clippers but he said no, he will wait for the barber thankyouverymuch.
It's OK though, I like the barber - he gave DS his very first haircut - and at least we support a local business.

HelloDulling · 26/10/2020 19:18

Skirting board had gone into the bathroom today.

I did some work that I’ve been putting off. Predictably, it took about an hour, and was no trouble to do.

I need to do DD’s eyebrows. They won’t keep until the 9th, and I don’t want her getting tweezer-happy.

I've had my wisdom tooth out today, 31 minutes before my be t double drip of ibuprofen & paracetamol

I wonder just what it is it about "the bees knees" that is so damn great.
Does anyone know or care?

And is it the bees' knees?

Or the bee's knees?

Squirrel26 · 26/10/2020 20:12

I am very tired, which is discouraging as it’s only Monday. Considering going to bed.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 26/10/2020 20:20

I just watched a documentary episode on Netflix about Benford's Law and I am totally besotted with it (geek warning). I'd never heard of it before. The series is Connected, and the Benford's Law episode is Digits. I'm just about to collect data about my FB friends' friends to see if they follow Benford's Law (again, geek warning).

Do you think it is a variation of 'the business'?

It’s probably partly the clock change. I feel the same, could easily go to sleep.
BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 26/10/2020 20:39

Well, what do you know, the number of friends that my friends have fairly neatly fit the expected Benford's Law curve, thereby proving that I am a really person and not a Russian bot. Go me.

Champagneforeveryone · 26/10/2020 21:25

I have bought lots of Christmas presents these past few days. Tomorrow I am going to IKEA to buy a new mattress for DS.

I believe the word my grandmother would have used is "profligate" Grin

AnneBoleynsHead · 26/10/2020 21:25

I went for my first ever mammogram today. While in town I had a mooch in the charity shops & bought myself a new hat. (M & S grey with fur trim).

This evening I've cooked a huge red cabbage with apples, onions, red wine & cinnamon & put in the freezer in takeaway cartons. Made 5 portions.

Whilst rearranging the freezer I discovered 2 cartons of soup that I'd forgotten about.

Coldwinds · 26/10/2020 21:28

I made a beef stew tonight with beef shin. It was lovely. No body else noticed how soft the meat was.

MacbookHo · 26/10/2020 21:33

This is my favourite thread on MN.

DS2 (12) made perfect fluffy American pancakes this morning. I can’t eat them because I’m doing WW, but he took some up to his older brother who was delighted. I had two boiled eggs instead.

KoalasandRabbits · 26/10/2020 21:40

Just got a new dining table and chairs - DD asked what we were doing with old one as it was her childhood one. Said she could have it but said no. DS then asked and said he'ld like the old table for him and rabbit who likes to nibble furniture. Saves disposing of it I guess. Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 27/10/2020 05:28

My migraine is almost gone. I had my coffee in the quiet and in the dark.
The heating switched itself on at 6 as it should.

soddingkitten · 27/10/2020 06:59

I have woken from an excellent sleep and am hoping today goes better, as yesterday was chaos. 🤞 DH and I were both working against big deadlines yesterday and time pressured. Sodding still wasn’t eating, just nibbling, so the vet had him in for IV fluids and tests (thankfully all OK). They discharged him overnight with a catheter still in place and a plan to have him back today for another day of IV fluids. The surgical cone drove him mad and he managed to get out of it twice in about 20 min, during which he tore at his bandage furiously to get at the catheter. We had to take him to the linked 24/7 vet hospital, where a nurse removed the catheter before he could tear it out himself. I have to ring the vet first thing to ask about the necessity of more IV fluids. In amongst the cone pandemonium he put away 3 small portions of chicken and fish, then another two when we got home for the 2nd time. He came home ravenous, so I hope we are done with IV fluids.

Spudlet · 27/10/2020 07:37

We’ve been power levelling one of my MMORPG characters and now it’s at a level where I get some decent abilities. #nerdalert

EggyPegg · 27/10/2020 08:27

Glad to hear that Sodding is eating again, and that he's clearly feeling well enough to cause chaos.

EggyPegg · 27/10/2020 09:21

I have just emptied my dishwasher. And for the first time ever, I have nothing to go straight into it. Alas this phenomenon won't last as I'm about to make pancakes.

OublietteBravo · 27/10/2020 09:22

I have filled in all the online forms ahead of my hygienist appointment later today.

Themadcatparade · 27/10/2020 09:41

I’ve just made my daughter who’s currently on half term get ready for the day rather than lazing as it will make her feel better. I’m sat here working from the couch unshowered in my partners dressing gown.

Champagneforeveryone · 27/10/2020 09:43

Tragic news - DH has succumbed to a relapse as he's due back to work today after 4 days of rudely good health.

As previously mentioned I am going for a haircut and then to Ikea, I will not be on hand to dole out medicines and mop brows. He will have to whimper to himself until I return, unless he wishes to run the gauntlet of DS's ministrations Grin
