And in order of 3 most favourite, what do you get?

We get about every 3 months

  1. Greek: souvlaki kebab platter.
  2. Fish and chips
  3. Thai.

My new neighbours
The other day had a takeaway at lunch then another delivered at around 8pm the same evening!

They usually have a couple each week

Merinocool · 06/10/2020 10:18

Not very often maybe 3 times a year?

It’s usually
Indian
Chinese
Dominos

garlictwist · 06/10/2020 10:34

I get one whenever I fancy it which is usually about once a month. I always get pizza.

garlictwist · 06/10/2020 10:35

My local pizza takeaway is so cheap as well, cheaper than buying supermarket pizzas. I can get a large pizza delivered hot to my door for £4 and it's delicious.

Mommabear20 · 06/10/2020 10:39

Far to often! At least once or twice a week but now DD is almost 4 months and noticing us eating we're trying to improve our eating happens in advance of her starting on solids.
It's usually Chinese or pizza for tea but McDonald's for breakfast or lunch

EmbarrassedUser · 06/10/2020 10:48

No set amount. We could easily go 5-6 weeks with no takeaways and then have it three times in a week. It’s more about when we fancy it really.

Ninkanink · 06/10/2020 11:17

It varies, but on average maybe every couple of months.

We’ve just moved so we’re still establishing favourites in the local area. So far the Indian has been best, then the pizza, then the grill place. We haven’t tried the Chinese yet but I know the food is great as my DH has eaten in a few times before.

In terms of favourite cuisines for takeaways in general, I think this would be mine:

A properly good Italian pizza
A properly good Chinese
A properly good Turkish kebab

If there was a good Korean nearby that would go to the top of the list.

LaBellina · 06/10/2020 11:20

We always have take away pizza on friday.
Usually looking forward all day to that night's dinner Blush

EmmaStone · 06/10/2020 11:40

God never lol!

We live rurally, so there are no delivery options, and to pick a takeaway up would be a minimum 30 min roundtrip, with quite limited options. However, we probably eat out once or twice a week (no more than once a week probably at the moment). We do have fish and chips nearby actually, but hardly ever buy, maybe 2-3 times a year? And occasionally we'll get takeaway vans pitch up in the area, again maybe by 2-3 times a year max.

I do buy supermarket pizzas, and we usually have one a week, and sometimes I buy the supermarket microwave 'takeaways' as a substitute.

We're always talking about how often we'd get Deliveroo if we lived in the city - DD thinks we'd be obese lol!

Ninkanink · 06/10/2020 11:43

Oh I love Thai, and Japanese. But prefer to eat in for those.

asteri76 · 06/10/2020 11:50

Hangs head in shame Shock I get a flat white delivered from Cafe Nero practically every morning.. And get a lunch delivered maybe twice / three days a week.. but am lucky as working from home and saving £££ not commuting to London on a daily basis..

ifiwasascent · 06/10/2020 12:36

Once every couple of weeks
Sushi
Indian
Chinese

ifiwasascent · 06/10/2020 12:39

Our local Italian did the best pizza but we've just moved so can't use those anymore ☹️

crochetmonkey74 · 06/10/2020 12:43

probably averages out at about once every 10-12 days as sometimes it's once a week, sometimes once a fortnight

It's always either pizza or fish and chips

Chinese is my absolute favourite but I have felt really unwell the next day the last few times I have had one- so no more!

We have takeaway every friday, saturday and sunday. Sometimes order in lunch sat and sun as well. The money I spend on food is shocking and keep saying i will sort it but never do. Who wants to cook at the weekend?

Chickenwing · 06/10/2020 13:50

Oh forgot to add the favourites are chinese, indian and pizza.

We get macdonalds delivery a lot as well.

SallySeven · 06/10/2020 14:05

There are easy ways to cook though.
Tray bake some veg and meat , cook an omelette, fry a steak + open a bag of salad, beans on toast with cheese on the top. All of which I'd prefer over our local offerings.

PurpleDaisies · 06/10/2020 14:11

Who wants to cook at the weekend?

Saturday late afternoon is actually my favourite cooking time. I’ll happily spend a hour in the kitchen on my own with the radio on.

Friday lazy fake away is often something like a curry batch cooked and reheated from the freezer with rice and shop bought naan/bhajis etc. Very little effort. I’m veggie and supermarket veggie burgers are much nicer than what McDonalds offers. Again, pretty simple to cook.

Don’t get me wrong, I love an occasional take away but there are other very low effort options available. Where we live, the hassle of going out to get it is often more than shoving something in the oven.

catnoir1 · 06/10/2020 14:14

2-3 times a week depending on what kind of week it's been.

  1. Chinese
  2. Indian
  3. Chippy
OhToBeASeahorse · 06/10/2020 14:14

We are very similar. I'd usually rather get a decent pizza from Waitrose than pay 4 times that for a Dominoes.

MarthaWashingtonsFeralTomcat · 06/10/2020 14:16

Twice a week I reckon. Usually McDonald's for one of them (I know it's junk but I do actually love a Big Mac, and don't get the feeling hungry 2 hours later rhat people complain about!) Then either Chinese or a local independent pizza place for the other. Indian on special occasions.

We never eat out though - even before covid-19 we ate out perhaps once a month and that was coffee and cake! We take packed lunches to work and have 4 kids under 9 and very limited babysitting options so eating out feels like a lot of expense and work.

Chickenwing · 06/10/2020 14:21

I live in a city centre so have plenty of options. Delivery is cheap/can often be free on Ubereats so I think its just easier to order in regularly.

Im going to try and cut it down. Maybe twice a week max.

Lozz22 · 06/10/2020 14:23

Never. Can't afford it.

AriesTheRam · 06/10/2020 14:31

Indian once a week usually
