How often do you get takeaway?

And in order of 3 most favourite, what do you get?

We get about every 3 months

  1. Greek: souvlaki kebab platter.
  2. Fish and chips
  3. Thai.

Maybe once every 2-3 months. Either Chinese or Fish and Chips (because that's all there is in our tiny village - I'd add pizza to that if I could).

notacooldad · 08/10/2020 12:58

Maybe once a year.
Often at work if we are there at tea time someone suggests they do a take away run but I always skip it.

SallySeven · 08/10/2020 12:59

Tbh I saw research from the us that said some of the worst diets for fat consumption (not that I personally avoid it that but it's used as a healthy eating marker by many) were among those who eat out at top restaurants.
As previously mentioned such restaurants generally use a lot of fat.

00100001 · 08/10/2020 16:30

They'd probably do collection

About once a week, sometimes twice.

asteri76 · 08/10/2020 19:55

@BarbaraofSeville

I get a flat white delivered from Cafe Nero practically every morning

I'm more shocked by this than the multiple takeaways a week people. It must cost a fortune (comparatively) to have a single coffee delivered due to minimum order and delivery charges. Isn't it cold too?

We probably have one lunch and one dinner a week either takeaway or at a restaurant.

That it may.. but it's how I choose to spend my money.. It helps that I am not commuting to London at the moment, so have an extra £800 a month WinkGrin (right what else can I order Grin)
Oneandzero · 08/10/2020 20:16

@asteri76

It’s not what you spend that intrigues me, it’s fact that you want it delivered to your home and drink on your own.

I also get a coffee every morning, and part of the “experience” is either meeting a friend for a quick chat or sit in nice cafe or go for a walk and have a meander.

It just seems such a.... pants way to enjoy a coffee every day!

Ninkanink · 08/10/2020 20:20

@asteri76 handbag time!! Or boots, or comfy jumpers, or a new wool coat...

asteri76 · 08/10/2020 20:42

@Oneandzero

I could go and pick it up if I so wished.. but honestly have no desire to go into my local town centre.... Getting a coffee has never been an "experience" for me... It's the hit I need before I switch my laptop on to deal with whatever crap is going on in my work life.. Also I do not have the luxury in meeting a friend for a coffee and a natter in the morning /afternoon anymore.. Damn you Covid!! This is now saved for weekends and usually with alcohol ..

@Ninkanink.. I like your way of thinking WinkGrin

Shxx · 08/10/2020 20:49

To much, about 3 times a week. My partner is obsessed with it.

  1. Chinese
  2. Turkish
  3. Nandos
ShalomToYouJackie · 08/10/2020 20:54

At the moment, several times a week (10 weeks pregnant and can't stomach the smell of cooking, just order what I want when I suddenly decide I can eat) but pre-pregnancy maybe once every few months

  1. Chinese - sweet and sour tofu and egg fried rice
  2. Pizza - Franco Manca pizza
  3. Indian - veggie masala or korma, pilau rice, peshwari naan

How come? Meeting a friend for coffee is perfectly within regs!

asteri76 · 08/10/2020 22:35

@Oneandzero
I know it's within regs.. If I was still commuting into London, I would be grabbing a coffee with friends while walking to the office, going out to lunch or just meeting people for a natter at our in-house bar/breakout area. But I live quite a way from the majority of my friends.. My daily indulgent coffee is an 8am thing and is what I need to start my day.. More importantly I do not have the time to meet up with anyone while I am working from home and the same can be said for my local friends who are in the same position.

Good for you.

I can’t understand why people would critique your morning coffee choice. They must have very empty lives.

Enjoy

Well that’s sort of what this whole thread is about. Which is helping to fill all our empty lives Grin

Right-on.

TBF I bought a Sage coffee machine which makes lovely coffee. But if you added up the cost of it, the coffee, the milk, the little jugs, the filters, cleaning tablets etc - you would probably find the cost of my one coffee a day is not disimilar to ordering one in.

Only I have the hassle of making it and maintaining the machine.

If one of us is a mug, then I suspect it's not you Blush

Not where I live unless outside in a public place.

ScaramoucheFandango · 09/10/2020 08:56

I thought about buying a coffee machine but decided I couldn't justify the space it would take up.

I buy those types of coffee out as a treat. It's all swings and roundabouts.

PurpleDaisies · 09/10/2020 08:58

I have a lovely coffee machine but prefer a coffee made by someone else.

Not for about 15 million of us it isn't.

thismeansnothing · 09/10/2020 09:03

Once a fortnight or so

  1. Indian
  2. Kebab
  3. Pizza
Wheytaminute · 09/10/2020 09:04

OneandZero

Meeting a friend for coffee in my local area is NOT within regs. Not in their home or garden or even in a coffee shop or pub. We can only associate with household members.

Can't even meet outside in a public place in my area.

Household only and any bubble - our bubble is elderly MIL who lives alone and has stayed home since March.

Hardbackwriter · 09/10/2020 09:45

Last night DH and I couldn't be bothered to cook so we ordered takeaway from a local vegan, Mauritian restaurant, which was lovely. Naturally, I thought of this thread throughout.

Happyrascalsmummy · 09/10/2020 09:53

Usually once or twice a week. Pizza or chicken wrap usually. Get the odd Chinese chippy or Indian meal every few months.
