And in order of 3 most favourite, what do you get?

We get about every 3 months

  1. Greek: souvlaki kebab platter.
  2. Fish and chips
  3. Thai.

Once a week but if it's a hectic week it could be more.

My favourites change weekly! Sometimes I want Chinese, sometimes I want a kebab, sometimes fish and chips, sometimes Italian. The only takeaway I'm not fond of where I live is the Indian.

HowFastIsTooFast · 05/10/2020 17:45

At least once a fortnight, sometimes once a week.

  1. Dominos
  2. Chinese
  3. Portuguese
SquigglePigs · 05/10/2020 17:46

Once a week or so usually. Occasionally more when work is bad. Trying to cut down to more like once a fortnight for health reasons though.

  1. Nepalese (or Indian)
  2. Fish and chips
  3. Chinese (although none of the local ones are good since we moved)

I'd love Thai but there aren't any near here.

DH would say pizza in place of my fish and chips so we do get pizza sometimes.

gingajewel · 05/10/2020 17:48

Every Saturday, I hate cooking and cook every single night, I want a night off!!
We normally have Indian or pizza, this Saturday had chines but if we ask the kids they always say McDonald’s or kfc!

CMOTDibbler · 05/10/2020 17:49

Once a week usually, never more.
We are very limited to choices where we live

  1. Chippy
  2. Posh burger place
  3. Thai (but its a pita as they are always late)

No one delivers, and the only chinese place now is awful. Sometimes now we get a 'heat it yourself' meal delivered from the Indian Guy (actual business name) or the bhaji lady but you have to plan a week ahead for them

Atadaddicted · 05/10/2020 17:50

Rarely
So it’s a really nice treat when we do.
Pizza on a Friday when the children and I have a “cinema night” in front of TV

Or when children with their father I might get thai or sushi. Also once a month or so.

1990shopefulftm · 05/10/2020 17:51

Once a month, has occasionally been twice being pregnant some days i just really wanted a chicken burger

  1. Indian
  2. chinese
  3. italian
Okokokitsout · 05/10/2020 17:53

Once or twice a week. We live a mile out or so of the city centre so have excellent choice on Deliveroo.

My faves are:
Mexican
Chinese/asian fusion
Five guys

Bwlch · 05/10/2020 17:58

Rarely. Nobody delivers here and I can't be bothered to do a near twenty mile round trip to pick one up.

The nearest is a Chinese, so...

  1. Chinese
  2. Chinese
  3. Chinese
Inextremis · 05/10/2020 17:58

Never, because it's not available where we live - the closest one is around 30 miles away, and would be cold by the time we got it home (there are no deliveries here at all - rural Ireland). Consequently, I've learned how to make Indian restaurant food myself, and I'm working on my Chinese (have perfected egg fried rice and char siu pork so far). The only thing I really miss and have been unable to reproduce, is a Grubbs chilli burger (Grubbs being a Brighton based burger company). Fish 'n chips is easy enough, and I'm not a great fan of pizzas. I'm not complaining though, cos living here well outweighs the lack of takeaways :)

HildegardVonBingen · 05/10/2020 17:59

once a month
pre-covid it was less often, but with more meals out.

if I'm choosing it's the fabulous Indian on the next street. DCs always pick KFC. H likes chippy.

daisychain1620 · 05/10/2020 18:01

Every Saturday without fail! Chinese or pizza.

SendHelp30 · 05/10/2020 18:01

Once or twice a week.
Indian
Thai
Greek

BiddyPop · 05/10/2020 18:02

We would try and not get more than 1 a week generally life has had periods where we've had to, and we have had periods where we have much reduced that.

But as we are no longer out for coffee or lunches in town as part of working in the city centre normally, or generally going out for dinner occasionally, both as a result of covid, we are getting one every single Friday night. Partly as our treat to ourselves, to cheer ourselves up, and also not have to cook at the end of the week (we're both WFH and under significant pressure, and DD has never stopped between school either remotely or back in person, and a whole heap of serious sports training over the summer and since return to school in person).

But also partly to support some of the many businesses in trouble locally - we are still earning and can afford it, so feel we should continue to spend in the economy where we can.

I know from a neighbour who runs a takeaway chain that generally, across the sector, it has changed utterly. There would be many buying takeaway midweek after busy days at work and just not bothering to cook at home later than usual. These are now (mostly) all working from home so not facing a drive and then cooking, but can cook in snatches during the day or have things in the oven for when they are finished.

But there is huge pressure all weekend - mainly Friday and Saturday but strongly on Sundays also - for takeaways to replace going out.

In our case, we had always gone (locally) to a mix of:
Indian
Thai
Generic asian
Chinese
Italian chipper
Good pizzeria
Dominos
Italian pizza and pasta

And because of covid, we can add takeaway meals from:
Fish and chipper
Sailing club (mix of chicken wings and chips to traditional roasts and seafood options)
Italian based restaurant in a hotel
Different Italian family restaurant

And on my list to try are local:
Steak restaurant
Seafood restaurant (very upmarket)
Another Italian family restaurant
Another Chinese family restaurant

As it seems like we are about to go back into stricter lockdown conditions (we hadn't really got back into going out to eat yet), I think we will be continuing this for a while yet.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 05/10/2020 18:13

We've had 2 so far this year, both Chinese. It's such a hassle to get it (nearest is 10 miles away and they don't deliver), it's easier not to bother.

GameSetMatch · 05/10/2020 18:13

Once a fortnight, we get something different each time top three would have to be:
Greek
Chinese
Indian

PeanutButterIsOneWord · 05/10/2020 18:17

Payday takeaway, and maybe one other per month.

Loads of pizza as the kids love it
Indian
Chippy

Wimbledon11 · 05/10/2020 18:18

At least once a week..maybe twice Blush

  1. Indian
  2. Local Italian restaurant
  3. Dominos
Waxonwaxoff0 · 05/10/2020 18:18

Once a month usually.

Indian is my favourite, from our local Indian restaurant.
Followed by Dominos and then Greek.

krustykittens · 05/10/2020 18:19

We try to limit it to about once a month as they are expensive and the costs soon build up. Usually Indian or Chinese but we would love to have a decent Thai around here.

middleager · 05/10/2020 18:20

1-2 times a week since lockdown.

Feels like my only treat as we are no longer going out to eat, pubs or gigs (due to Test and Trace for the former 2)

  1. Chinese on a Sat night
  2. Pizza or chippy or McDs

We live in an area where Uber eats/Deliveroo don't deliver. At my old house you could order anything.

IdblowJonSnow · 05/10/2020 18:20

Once a fortnight.
Almost always Indian. Occasionally Thai or Chinese.
Hungry now...

Xmasbaby11 · 05/10/2020 18:21

Around once a month

Indian
Pizza
Fish and chips

When I go out to eat with friends I go for Thai or Korean etc, something more interesting.

Swayo · 05/10/2020 18:21

Never as I live in a place with no takeaways 😭😭

But when I lived in civilisation.

  1. Lebanese
  2. Indian
  3. pizza hut or dominoes
VictoriaBun · 05/10/2020 18:24

Takeaway as in actual eat it at home. Never in this house and we have lived here 8 years.
