And in order of 3 most favourite, what do you get?

We get about every 3 months

  1. Greek: souvlaki kebab platter.
  2. Fish and chips
  3. Thai.

Choice Is pretty dire where I am.

My fantasy takeaways would be Lebanese, southern Indian and Vietnamese.

The choices are dodgy brown curry, vibrant red sweet Chinese or horse burger.

paintmywholehousepink · 05/10/2020 20:21

Once every 1-2 weeks
Indian
Fish n chips
Italian
Thai

mouse70 · 05/10/2020 20:24

Very infrequent, possible once every three months. Fish and chips or a chinese

Kandinsko · 05/10/2020 20:27

Several times a week at the moment!

Mediterranean (pizza, pasta, antipasti, Greek, Lebanese)
Chinese/Japanese
Indian

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 05/10/2020 20:27

Once a month-ish - always pizza! We often get things like M&S dine-in or the Chinese or Indian takeaway boxes though.

rc22 · 05/10/2020 20:34

Once a month-ish.

  1. Pizza
  2. Fish and chips
  3. Indian
positivelynegative · 05/10/2020 20:40

I’m amazed at the number of ‘once a week’. The annual cost must be huge.

Less than once a month.

Favourite:

  1. Chinese/Thai/Oriental but only selected restaurants, no more greasy chicken balls and MSG sauces for me
  2. Indian
  3. Fish and chips

I love pizza but almost never get takeaways, there's so many good quality supermarket ones.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 05/10/2020 20:46

@WhatwouldJudydo

2/3 times a week has been my lockdown average - I am a lone parent to 4 kids and so this has been my treat! Most nice restaurants etc deliver to me so it's basically a replacement for going out to dinner/ laziness... 😳
But how do you afford it? This is what I can't understand. You must be loaded!
mamaduckbone · 05/10/2020 20:48

Not very often - maybe once every couple of months. Not much choice where we live:

  • fish and chips
  • Chinese
  • Indian
There is a Turkish kebab place opened down the road which smells amazing every time I walk past so that might be next.
redeyetonowheregood · 05/10/2020 20:48

I work long hours with a 3 hr round trip commute. I work at home two days a week but on the other days it is all a bit of a disaster unless I plan it all very carefully. My children won't eat most of what my husband cooks, mainly because he isn't a great cook. So, we have takeaway probably once a week in average at the moment and usually Chinese because it is cheapest. Not ideal but I just can't be at home all the time and don't get in until 8.

islockdownoveryet · 05/10/2020 20:51

About once a fortnight sometimes more sometimes less .
We did go for a period of going at least a month , I was trying to save money be healthy etc but now it's just easier a treat and going out at the moment is quite difficult so a takeaway at home is one my pleasures .
My first choice Indian every time
Dh would be Chinese and dc pizza so we compromise on who's turn it is .

AriettyHomily · 05/10/2020 20:54

Every couple of weeks

Chinese
Thai
Curry

Oblomov20 · 05/10/2020 20:57

I literally can not believe how many people are twice a week! ShockShockShock

We are once a month, if that.

How do you afford that?

curry order is very expensive; popadums, 4 curries, sides, rice, naan. £80

Pizza for 4 - £30

midsomermurderess · 05/10/2020 20:59

On average once a year, and I'm always disappointed.

MrsJBaptiste · 05/10/2020 21:13

Once a week. It started as a treat in lockdown back in March and seems to have stuck... I hadn't really thought about it until last week when I realised how much we're spending on them 😮

longsigh · 05/10/2020 21:16

@sergeilavrov

We're those people who have ceased trying to agree on takeout and order individually - probably twice a week when I'm home, my DH quite rightly orders in almost nightly when I'm not. Mine are,

(1) Japanese
(2) Lebanese
(3) Chinese/Vietnamese

When we order together - it's always Yemeni or Pakistani food.

Why is it that "DH quite rightly orders in" when you aren't home?!
foofooyeah · 05/10/2020 21:21

At least once a week, pizza, curry or fish and chips.
Trying to cut down but I really don’t like cooking much.

copperoliver · 05/10/2020 21:35

Once or twice a week. X

Itstheprinciple · 05/10/2020 21:48

Once a week, usually Saturday.

  1. indian
  2. Chinese
  3. chippy

Occasionally I might get a chippy tea on my way home mid week if I've had a late night at work.

WRT the cost - there are three of us, me DH and DD. We don't get a curry each. We get one main meal to share (occasionally 2 if we are torn what to have but rarely as we all like the same), a few poppadoms, a couple of sides like bombay aloo or saag pander, one pilau rice and a couple of naans. That is plenty for us and comes to £21 approx. We just budget it in to our spends. We have cut down to once a fortnight in the past when finances dictated. Possibly need to do the same again to save a few lbs this time!

blue25 · 05/10/2020 22:00

Twice a month

  1. Indian
  2. Japanese
  3. Chinese or Thai
yearinyearout · 05/10/2020 22:02

Couple of times a month. Favourite is curry but occasionally Chinese selection for a change.

Lovelydovey · 05/10/2020 22:06

Normally a packet of chips to share amongst the 4 of us (with dinner) once a week.

But apart from that:
Turkish - every 4 - 6 months. Usually lots of mixed mezzr, kebabs and bread
Indian - once a year. Usually lots of veggie, fish and meat curries. I usually cook rice and make naan as too mean to pay for these.

We do eat out more often than that but not big on takeaways.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 05/10/2020 22:14

Once a fortnight. Used to be once a week pre Covid but now my husband (who usually works away) is here all the time so he can bung a chicken or something in the oven around 4pm instead of me getting home at half five and starting cooking then.

My favourites are:

  1. Domino's (but has to be Texas BBQ)
  2. Indian
  3. Chinese

I wish we lived near a Wahaca as I hear they are doing takeaway atm.

We had a takeaway Sunday lunch from the local hotel over lockdown but it wasn't great because it was hard for them to keep everything warm.
