If he was a decent person I'd be wishing him well. He's not. I'm not.

OP posts:
AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 02/10/2020 07:21

I think he's faking it. He now gets to skip the debates and reappear in ten days' time to 'prove' it's just like a cold.

I think he will defo win now. Sad

MrsMariaReynolds · 02/10/2020 07:21

The timing is...convenient.

MarshaBradyo · 02/10/2020 07:25

It’s a good way to swing the conversation

He’d definitely be up for fabricating anything

PersephonePromotesEquanimity · 02/10/2020 07:26

Fingers crossed.

(For the health and safety of all good people ...)

NameAChange · 02/10/2020 07:26

I agree, if its mild he will criticise the testing and downplay it. That could go either way with the electorate. Lets hope he digs himself a massive hole.

raddledoldmisanthropist · 02/10/2020 07:30

I’m amazed Melania is ever close enough to Trump to catch anything from him.

I suspect she's been licking every Covid patient she meets in the hope of catching it and passing it on.

Yes, he's likely to be fine but it's worth a punt in her position.

frumpety · 02/10/2020 07:30

How will his team spin this do you think ? I know a lot will depend on how he fares physically over the next week or so. Do you think he will still participate in the next debate remotely ?

NameAChange · 02/10/2020 07:31

Wonder how Americans see it. We all on the whole managed to muster up sympathy for Boris, but it didn't turn those who weren't into his supporters after. However Boris isn't Trump...

PollyPelargonium52 · 02/10/2020 07:31

Surely he will be deemed high risk if he is over 70?

Tadpolesandfroglets · 02/10/2020 07:32

It’s a stunt. He’s waiting for some outpouring of sympathy like Boris got. He knows he’s in trouble in the polls. He’s disgusting.

OverTheRainbow88 · 02/10/2020 07:33

I hope he doesn’t now get the sympathy vote though!

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 02/10/2020 07:34

@Frazzled13

That’s one way to avoid the next presidential debate I suppose.
That was my first thought too
CherryValanc · 02/10/2020 07:35

Whatever happens to him, he'll spin it (no eloquently, but still will spin) it to prove he was right.

Not ill = virus made up
Ill and recovers = I can get over it so it's no big deal

Even mask, the fact he's not used one a lot - it's proof they aren't needed as he hasn't got it till now.

Unless he dies, this will be made out to be proof of something.

Anyway, I wish he the kindness, sympathy and positive thought he has expressed for others before.

bumblingbovine49 · 02/10/2020 07:35

Yes. I think this too. Once he is recovered I think he will then stop taking any interest in Covid at Al as he will say "I've had it I don't need to worry about it any more" as he is not in the least worried about anyone else catching it as far as I can tell.

Egghead68 · 02/10/2020 07:35

They’ll be getting monoclonal antibodies and remdesivir so they will recover quickly. They can then show how tough/robust/in good health the president is while making the point to their supporters that Covid is no big deal and conveniently missing some rallies and possibly a debate.

Dontcarewhatmyusernameis · 02/10/2020 07:36

There’s been an official notification of Trump’s positive results released, I don’t think it’s fake news.
Things happen conveniently for him all the time...He’s been invincible til now, nothing seems to touch him, maybe Covid-19 won’t really either.

Egghead68 · 02/10/2020 07:38

Not with the help of the latest treatments (that aren’t widely available to his citizens).

KittCat · 02/10/2020 07:40

Perfect timing 🤔

TheClawww · 02/10/2020 07:41

Sadly, unless he suffers so badly he sees the light - it'll just be twisted in his favour to back up his previous views/actions

@turnitonagain

There was news that Hope Hicks who is a close advisor was positive. I assume POTUS was immediately tested as a result of this.

Guess he won’t make fun of masks and social distancing as much now.

Sadly if he does recover he will never ever admit he was wrong.

The one thing you can say about this virus, it holds no prisoners, it's non-discriminate and a complete leveller. He gave it no respect, it's returning the complement

Northernsoullover · 02/10/2020 07:44

I don't believe it. A nice bout of Covid-19 will be the perfect cover to delay the election.

daisychain01 · 02/10/2020 07:46

Masks are to protect other people, not the wearer!

Egghead68 · 02/10/2020 07:46

I think it’s really going to help his campaign.

TheElementsOfMedical · 02/10/2020 07:48

I've come over all gloomy, but I can't see how this is good news.

(1) If he recovers, he'll be seen as the Superman Messiah by his followers and get an electoral boost.
(2) If he is seriously ill, he'll be seen as the Brave Suffering Messiah by his followers and get an electoral boost.
(3) If he dies, presumably Pence will simply take over as Presidential candidate, he's just as much of a nutjob really. And he'll get the electoral boost of grief-stricken Trumpists and any Republican voters who had been put off voting because they didn't like Trump's shenanigans.
(4) Or (and I'm not usually prone to conspiracy theories, but this seems suspiciously convenient), Trump doesn't really have COVID but is using this to avoid being shown up in debates, plus get the (1) and (2) electoral boost from his followers.
(5) If he does have COVID, he could have spread it to Biden, who is also an elderly man.
