It's getting harder and harder to keep my obscenities inside my head or on MN. Especially now the DCs are in their full on mid-term flow and I still haven't unclenched from the preceeding 5 months

It's tough because so many are now in the position of having to look long term on decision making with absolutely no goal posts in sight.

I'm surprised that we're not hearing about y6s struggling on making informed choices about secondary applications.

I certainly didn't unclench much when the schools went back, because DS was starting Y7 so we had to deal with all of the extra stuff attached to that. Now he's in the middle of two weeks back at home after his year group bubble burst and I am CLENCHING more every day.

I'm trying to avoid watching the news for a bit as I just end up shouting at the TV.

Feeling sad for my friends' kids who have just started Uni - not yet heard if they are locked in. It's no way to start the big life adventure of University though is it.

Back to my DIY. And cooking. Seems that it keeps my mind occupied (and needs doing tbh 😅)

Three years ago today I got on a plane to go on holiday, when we landed and reached the hotel put the tv on while unpacking the journo. said.

"MONARCH going under this weekend." Oh gee thanks Monarch you let me fly out knowing you were not flying me back. After the dust cloud and Gran Canaria not letting us go for days on end it was the final straw.

The only ray of sunshine for me in this shit show is that I have not been caught out a third time by a holiday company. I am here as are all those I love.

As a few of you know my son is at uni in America although he's currently still at home with lectures online. His coach has just posted some pics of their training session. All the athletes are doing a sprints training session wearing a mask. Wtaf? Glad he's here for the moment.

That's crazy! Reduce your o2 intake while exercising, thats a plan! Ffs p.e. teachers have studied human biology! They teach it and all the other stuff related to health and fitness. How can they possibly think that's appropriate?

We went to Wetherspoons for a dirt cheap breakfast yesterday (mum's guilty pleasure). What a joyless fuck (to steal a great phrase from another thread) that was. More signs and rules than an airport. We all agreed we'll not bother again for the time being.

Constantly tense. Last night had first, extremely long-awaited session of outdoor netball umpiring since March - great, fantastic, even though we had to play under modified rules, I even remembered what to do after six months.

But it's in London, and I am constantly living with the anxiety that it might be snatched away at any moment. It's bad enough that the indoor game has been nuked.

Just had an email from ds drama group that their governing body says masks are to be worn by over 11s when entering and leaving and parents at drop off and pick up (even though we don't even enter the building). I'm hesitating between replying with a comment that risk outside is minimal or just pretending I didn't see the email. I've not worn a mask outside yet and have no intention of starting now.

And another.... it is a lot easier to do than I thought this meme thing.

I get that about the good things being snatched away. I feel like that about my races. The good things are so fragile and unfortunately for the suck it up brigade, the kinds of things that can reliably be done at home in 24/7 company of my nearest and dearest do not excite me! I'm not averse to snuggling with a blanket, but it's not the high point of my day!

WLES - Some daft bint head of summat says nurses are emotionally exhausted so an increase is awful for them. No shit sherlock. I know in our health board there has been bugger all to do all summer, they have appropriated, furnished and decorated an area for nurses to chill in. She has been covered in emulsion not germs for weeks on end. Furniture companies have donated loads of stuff for them.

Had an email from pilates teacher. We have to wear masks to enter and leave the hall and she has two markers - one at each end of the hall - that she has to stand on. When moving from one end of the hall to the other, she has to wear a mask. Fuck knows how she's going to manage to correct posture and stuff. She was so hands on BC (before covid). Tiny corrections seem to make all the difference as to whether an exercise is done properly or not.
