Watch us wreck the mike, watch us wreck the mike, watch us wreck the mike.
Psych.

Now gather nicely in groups of no more than six...
Unless you're outdoors in Wales...

Oh well, come on in whatever the laws where you are. Plenty of space in this bubble of sanity Wink

@WouldBeGood that’s a thought 😂 the thing is we don’t even put them through doors, they are placed outside at night for people to find in the morning. I think the risk is minimal and everything else has been cancelled this year.

JamSarnie · 22/09/2020 09:10

@dingit

Nope I'll tune into Bake off over Boris Grin
Ooooo bake off. I forgot about that Grin
WouldBeGood · 22/09/2020 09:22

Is bake off now with the creepy man?

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 22/09/2020 09:22

@Evenstar it’s very jarring when it comes from people you respect. I’ve been chastised this morning by an ex mansplaining mask science to me. Le sigh.

Pleasedontdothat · 22/09/2020 09:31

Glad you’re back @Jourdain11 I hope everything’s ok

Thanks @TheOrchidKiller it’s good that your dd found a way through - ds has been like this for 3 years now and it feels never-ending. Ludicrously, even though he’s only
left the house once in the last 3 weeks (masked, to go to the corner shop), he’s come down with a stinking cold ... 🧐

Bloody Sadiq Khan is calling for compulsory mask-wearing in all public places in London - including outdoors - he’s never getting my vote again ...

mightbealittlebitmad · 22/09/2020 09:46

I wonder what else they can come up with to make our lives as miserable as possible. What else do they want from us?! We've sacrificed our friends, families, hobbies, jobs, money, our children's education but it's still not enough!

DominaShantotto · 22/09/2020 09:47

Woo yay the GP cannot offer me anything more than my current dose of sertraline for the panic attacks - I need to go on the waiting list to get mindfulness techniques that I already know to manage them - which leaves me in a miserable adrenaline fuelled (and not for fun reasons) existence in the meantime.

DH's test came through but not DD2s - DD2 always gets the bad luck and it's not fair for her.

PickAChew · 22/09/2020 09:49

I'll grudgingly perform the mask pantomime for the minimal benefit it has but if I'm expected to wear one outdoors, then I shall be going back to using the bus because the 2km uphill slog from town on a warm day with bags of shopping is about my limit, even without one. Sometimes I even pass someone coming the other way.

AgentCooper · 22/09/2020 09:51

@DominaShantotto that’s crap Sad have you ever had propranolol/beta blockers before? They can be very useful on top of ADs if panic is the problem. GPs would generally prescribe them with little fuss.

@mightbealittlebitmad indeed. I hate how much ammunition all the recent stuff is giving the nasty bastards. They wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire but STAY SAFE.
wanderings · 22/09/2020 09:55

Masks outdoors? I'd choose it over netball being cancelled, but if it comes to that, as soon as the weather gets colder, I shall be wearing my skeleton hoodie which zips over the head, and not just on 31st October. They want us to cover our faces, we shall cover our faces.

That's what I was hoping for but he was adamant there's nothing more he can/will do. Luck of the draw which GP you get - this one was so adamant they can't fix my brain it's tipped me over the pit again for the day.

Back to the uni textbooks - anatomy stuff is so bloody dry and boring anyway - let alone self-study.

DorsetBlueMovie · 22/09/2020 10:02

@DominaShantotto Mindfulness is fab for panic disorders in terms of prevention, but lots of people prefer to use Grounding Techniques or TIPP skills for use when having a panic attack, might be worth a look at them? Sorry you're having such a crap time atm.

Nice to hear from @Jourdain11. Thanks

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 22/09/2020 10:16

Will they prescribe Valium? I know many won’t - I just take one once in a while when it’s all too much and it just takes the edge off things. They seem terrified you’ll get addicted but I make a packet last 2 years. I’ve also just been prescribed pregabalin for pain management but I see that helps with anxiety too.

I’m a weirdo because I LOVE self-study anatomy. 😳

helena you’ve properly made me lol at the x-factor style big reveal. “From tonight, your social liberties will be reduced by.......... wait ......... amanda golden glances nervously at camera...... “

DorsetBlueMovie · 22/09/2020 10:19

@WouldBeGood Are you referring to Noel??? Nooooo! I luffs him, he's adorable. Used to be all very kooky and kool when he was younger but he's calmed down now he's married and had a family.

I love Noel Fielding. I thought he was great alongside Sandi. DP still takes the piss out of me for liking the Mighty Boosh, though.

I'll be honest i dont know how i feel about Matt Lucas yet.

DorsetBlueMovie · 22/09/2020 10:24

Yes, definitely more hesitant about ML.

I love the surreality and silliness of Boosh, all the joy of League If Gentlemen without the horrible/questionable bits.

Ibake · 22/09/2020 10:28

Welcome @Hiphopopotamus and so nice to 'see' you @Jourdain11, hope you're doing well x

Anyone remember that Jane Horrocks drama a few years ago where she ended up being PM after standing as an independent. Think she called her party the Purple Party (unfortunate now re UKIP!). I always consider myself politically purple as it's associated with mad old women but also because it's a blend of my fiscally right and socially left politics. You need one to pay for the other.

Re masks outdoors. There's part of me wants them to do it as it definitely my point of no return. I wouldn't do it, I'd tear up any FPN issues and I'd demand my day in court. Good news is I think it would be most people's tipping point and so might actually be the thing that made the nation sit up and tell BoJo to get fucked. *

  • note to self. If I do end up becoming PM I really must stop calling people a cunt.
WouldBeGood · 22/09/2020 10:37

@DorsetBlueMovie and @TrustTheGeneGenie I’m referring to Matt Lucas... couldn’t remember his name!

Then I shall get down off my chair Grin
I seem to remember one of those celeb-slander threads saying ML was a horrendous neighbour, having huge loud parties and singing into the night when he lived with Rebel Wilson, has made me Hmm at him since. But I shall die on my hill to defend Noel Grin

Tbh, I'd find your straight talking refreshing. It would indicate your honesty!

Tbh some of the useless half awake mps need to.be told that regularly. "Don't be a dick" could be our party slogan?

Willow2017 · 22/09/2020 11:10

Matt Lucas is doing Bake Off? Hmmm.

Jourdain11 nice to see you
How are you?

110APiccadilly · 22/09/2020 11:13

I was surprised how good Noel was at Bake Off. I didn't dislike him before but wasn't convinced he was right for it - it's a very different sort of thing to panel shows, which was all I'd seen him do. But he did a really good job, I thought.

bluetongue · 22/09/2020 11:15

Masks outdoors are mandatory in Melbourne at the moment. Even if you’re walking the dog by yourself. Police seem to have no problem handing out fines either. They are quickly wrestling to the ground anyone who fails to comply with their instructions.

So glad I live in a non mask wearing part of Australia.
