Watch us wreck the mike, watch us wreck the mike, watch us wreck the mike.
Psych.

Now gather nicely in groups of no more than six...
Unless you're outdoors in Wales...

Oh well, come on in whatever the laws where you are. Plenty of space in this bubble of sanity Wink

There was another good Jeremy Vine piece on the radio about symptoms and how likely they are or not to be Covid 19... embrace the snotty nose

He still ended in a daft way though. The caller was saying she knew it was just a run of the mill virus because the symptoms weren't Covid, and that the cough only came on after snottiness. Her work had told her she couldn't go back without having the whole family tested, which she did, Negative. She says still feeling rough but still not Covid but Jeremy was advising her to get tested again. This was despite his programme about too many negatives but too many obviously none Covids were getting tested. I think they're making him do none dementory slots but he is still a dementor.[/quote]
I think I was at the burger van by then.
I toyed with the novelty of Greggs, but walking up to a bare faced alfresco greasy industrial burger won.

The tone has become more critical this week, especially the Gang of Four Ruld of Six discussion on Monday. Much less synchopantic than it was not so long ago.

I've only really listened to Ken Bruce over much of the time. The whole tone at the start of lockdown was so maudlin, it reminded me of the days after Diana died!

I hope The Queen is living well, healthily and having a bit of a break... the nation wouldn't cope with mass media mourning until all this settles down!

I braved the local morrisons a few weeks ago very early in the morning so hardly any customers and noticed all the staff quickly pulling their masks back up when they spotted me.

I gave them a look of 'it's ok I think they are useless' but of course they wouldn't be able to tell cause of my mask covering my face 😁

Willow2017 · 17/09/2020 16:56

I think JV just like to have the lat word and that has to be his way or nothing! I stopped listening to him ages ago as he is so bloody condescending sometimes I wanted to slap him.

No way in hell I would pay for the privilege of sitting indoors with a face mask on trying to communicate with a toddler!

I noticed quite a lot of the T & T forms are being ignored or left unfilled in on the tables recently. Maybe people getting fed up with the constant filling in every time they go anywhere and monitoring of them or they just cannot afford to be off work for any length of time unpaid in the slight chance they have been in the cafe at the same time as someone who has it at the other end of the cafe! (Its a huge area so possibly 30 feet between them!)

We were out on the North Yorks Moors Moors Saturday. Hadn't seen anyone since 100yds from the carpark when we stopped to have a snack. I passed the hand gel to my previously dementor DH. He snorted "oh, do you think the sheep have Covid then". I replied " no, but you stopped for a pee 5 minutes ago". He has definitely turned the corner.

Thank you@PickAChew. I’m giving emotional support to my Mam, then.My DS is using her for childcare, let’s not mention she’s a teenager. So we will be a support bubble.
My DD saw someone on the bus coming home from college not wearing a mask, and another passenger told them off, but they were exempt. But the rest of the bus defended the non mask wearer. So that’s encouraging.

@RealityExistsInTheHumanMind

I think there needs to be more of a public backlash against Witty. He's providing BoJo with the bullets and the government are doing whatever he says. I suspect he would back off a bit if everything kicked off at him. He has had long enough in the spotlight to enjoy the power but not long enough to develop the necessary thick skin. At the moment he seemingly has all the power without any of the responsibility. (Bit like Neil Ferguson was - until he wasn't any more).

Witty 'might' be a good epidemiologist (although I'm becoming less convinced of that) but this isn't, and can never be, just about the virus.

I couldn't agree more with this. DH had said this from the start. I did hear from my boss that both Whitty and Vallance had both threatened to resign if they were challenged. Basically, she said, we're being held to ransom.

I'm amused that my predictive text changes Whitty to ShiftyGrin

TT forms being ignored well here it is the first question asked at pubs and restaurants we have been to. The latest today as you walk in you have to give your details which a member of staff writes down no leaving bits of paper on tables. In Leeds the restaurant inputed it onto their computer before you could get past them. Now I know some are giving false details but there is nowt you can do about them.

I agree, I normally turnover whilst he is on but was up to my eyes in batch making about 10 l of soup, and couldn't be bothered, + I was interested in what their slant was going to be on the tests. Which apart from Jezza, was surprisingly balanced.

I think restaurants can now be fined if they don't get details.

I’m going to grab the potentially last bit of summer sun tomorrow, sack of work and meet up with a GROUP of friends. May as well be hung for a sheep as for a lamb.

Anyway, should I be GRASSED up and LOCKED up someone else will do all the housework, cooking and look after my kids for me during another lockdown.

WouldBeGood · 17/09/2020 18:55

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane I like your thinking.

Particularly as I’m sure Ms Sturgeon won’t be able to let a curfew pass her by.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 17/09/2020 18:56

I took on my first "in the flesh school dementor" tonight. Do I get a badge??
We were talking about online learning provision should the school close. The teacher explained it all and said its not just available for school closures but for any child who has to self isolate, as she is aware that many children have parents who work in social care and services who may need to be at risk of having to self isolate more than others. Note, at risk of self isolation not of covid.
I work in social care, my sons friends mum who was also there works in a nursing home.
School dementor replied "with all due respect, can these keyworker children not be separated as if their parents are more at risk then so are they, and by extension our children". The poor teacher looked fucking gobsmacked. I couldn't help myself but I piped up with "throughout lockdown you were out every Thursday night clapping away and posting on Facebook about how proud you are of the work we do. Yet here you are wanting to deny our children a normal school life. You are a hypocrite. I work in social care as do other mums, some will work in shops and distribution, and even bloody hospitals. If you feel that your child is in danger by being here with ours then you can withdraw and home school them. You believe your child is unsafe? The responsibility to keep him safe lies with you. Not us"
My heart was fucking pounding but I'm so sick of this shit. All through lockdown people screaming school isn't safe. But for our kids its ok. I mean I know its ok anyway but the hypocrisy of wailing something is dangerous while still expecting some to do it so you can keep getting the services you need? Shows all these people don't care about protecting others at all. It just shows them for the selfish fucking arseholes that they are.

WouldBeGood · 17/09/2020 18:58

I've never been scared to speak my mind but the effort and control it took to stay measured and not just scream "oh fuck off you fucking clown, you don't want my child with yours?? Newsflash, neither do I cos he's a little tyrant who treats anyone not in his group like shit and while I'm at it, you're wearing your visor half arsed and you look like a fucking spanner" actually had me shaking.

As of tomorrow (another random date) staff will ask for your details at the entrance and if you dont give them you wont be allowed in. New gov rules they snuck in. Just one more job for staff to do and take shit about.
