Watch us wreck the mike, watch us wreck the mike, watch us wreck the mike.
Psych.

Now gather nicely in groups of no more than six...
Unless you're outdoors in Wales...

Oh well, come on in whatever the laws where you are. Plenty of space in this bubble of sanity Wink
@AgentCooper I have just looked up about the (suspiciously quiet) Nightingale Hospital at Excel on wiki. Up to April 24th it treated 41 patients, and was then put on standby on May 4th and has been closed ever since. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions!
@WouldBeGood Some time ago, coincidentally whilst on holiday after a flight (when I always seem to catch things) I developed the most horrible virus I have had in many years - comparable to 'flu. Lost of taste and smell, headache, extreme tiredness - the sort where you will slump down on a chair and not even get comfy before you fall asleep, and a dry cough like no other. No runny nose though. I spent a lot of our break asleep in bed. The cough was so bad I went to my gp when I got home because I couldn't breathe and I was prescribed a steroid inhaler ( another first). My health has been a bit dodgy ever since. I still suffer with extreme tiredness and I have developed a heart arrythmia. I will now be on medication for the rest of my life.
One would say Covid 19, except..... this was in May 2019, so there must be some remarkably similar viruses doing the rounds.
I empathise Reedwarbler: in June 2018 I developed a dreadful sore throat and lost my sense of taste and smell, as well as feeling like I had the worst flu ever.
I ended up in hospital with viral Myocarditis, complete LBBB, severe heart failure and now face a limited life span and life style and taking a number of tablets every day. Too early for Covid? Who knows.....
I was in London looking after my DGSs, chasing around the park after them one day, seriously ill 48 hours later ☹️

The Llandudno nightingale has never been used the oxygen being a problem with it adjoining a petrol station so they appropriated next door sailing club all their land and club house. They are now paying the club £190 a day so that staff can be fed in there. I am not sure who is eating there because it has never opened.

justasking111 · 17/09/2020 19:56

Wales Cardiff.

"Wales' largest coronavirus field hospital is to be replaced by a smaller version.

The 2,000-bed hospital at Cardiff's Principality Stadium is being decommissioned and a unit with 400 beds will be built next to the city's University Hospital of Wales.

Health Minister Vaughan Gething said the new site would cost £33m and would help manage any winter increase."

33 million mother of god.

Brilliant @LivinLaVidaLoki

I thought wine better than a gold medal - could be changed for white if required.

DorsetBlueMovie · 17/09/2020 21:38

@RealityExistsInTheHumanMind Does that exist in real life? Currently on holiday with the in laws

Ibake · 17/09/2020 21:46

Go you @LivinLaVidaLoki! What did she say? Or did she just stand there with her mouth gaping open?

amicissimma · 17/09/2020 21:59

@LivinLaVidaLoki, respect. I applaud you.

Socially distanced Brownies al fresco...
Two arsehole dog owners whinging and arguing because Brown Owl had to tell them to not let the dogs roam around within our pod zones. 1) out of 25 kids, you can guarentee that someone's going to have a dog phobia. 2) in our risk assessments, we have to keep clear of dog shit.
No your dog does not have a right to bound about out of control in a public space regardless of how that public space is being used.

We have a DC who lurves petty beaurocracy at all times. One of those types that just has to embellish all the hoops you have to jump through.

PITA as it is, we are happier being outside in person. Our usual venue will only accept 20 in the building so we would have to alternate weeks in the pods so we're not trying to rush back.

I think we have turned a corner!

DementorH is currently watching question time and shouting at/arguing with a dementory guest. My efforts have clearly not been in vain. 😁😁

Justgivemewine · 17/09/2020 23:12

@LivinLaVidaLoki well said, sometimes people just need to be told

justasking111 · 17/09/2020 23:49

Rumours of a national lockdown in October, what is the point we are just dragging this out longer it will eventually burn out to a point where we need to live with it. Or are we supposed to protect the NHS for the next decade.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 18/09/2020 06:13

Wow, thanks everyone.
@RealityExistsInTheHumanMind red is perfect. I'm not sure why but white gives me headaches.
@Ibake she said nothing. Not a damn thing. And as soon as the school induction finished she hot footed it out the door.

KnobChops · 18/09/2020 07:07

I see the usual lot are all screaming on her for a full lockdown this morning, and ‘blended learning’. What’s the matter with these women, do none of them work outside the house or have any financial worries? The more I think about it, the more I see that lockdown is to protect the white collar middle classes.

chocolatesweets · 18/09/2020 07:11

Watching the news.
We don't know if we're coming or going.
Playgroup starting for my two as I said before. I just hope it gets to stay open.
I feel so desperate and frustrated all the time.
This week I've started to accept these lockdowns for what they are and stopped trying to convince people of the damage.
Read an article about women starting their own businesses during lockdown.
I think my focus needs to be on what I can do. Can't stop lockdown or opinion.

chocolatesweets · 18/09/2020 07:15

@KnobChops yeah , I think it is. They're scared of the virus - to be fair we've been pumped with fear and without my slightly more desperate situation, I'd be quite happy sitting at home too. They just don't know how desperate things have become. They're not strong enough either.
Asked a friend if she'd seen the panorama ad with sen kids during lockdown? She was like, no (nose up), sorry, can't deal. Can't deal?! It's real life! And the consequence of fear!

Littlebelina · 18/09/2020 07:29

This. blended learning part time school only works if you have an adult at home who can commit to it. Otherwise it just screws over children and working parents (esp single parents) which it turns screws over children more. Plus I've not seen them answer what happens about teachers/ frontline worker kids because once you introduce keyworker childcare again you restrict access to school for everyone else even more. Instead they seem intent on blaming a Facebook group on the worlds woes. Not a member of us for them but can't imagine they have much influence with the government.
BogRollBOGOF · 18/09/2020 07:41

Add to that, blended learning only works if you have a highly motivated child.
If your child has SENs, forget it.
Multiple children from different year groupd, good luck.

More likely at the upper end of the system where there is an external goal and less than enough time to spare and some independent learning skill.

The thought of going back to learning at home with children that are already jaded by the previous experience is frankly nightmare material. We made a token effort with Bitesize last time but if it's "blended" so they need to continously pick up school based work for continuity, forget it.

It would be a disaster for most family set ups.

Plus more families are working out of the home and few on furlough now.

DominaShantotto · 18/09/2020 07:47

I tried to get mine to do some home learning yesterday while I got on with some uni reading. Child either side of me on a laptop - dd1 kicking off and demanding attention constantly and it ended up with her kicking the shit out of me (this happened in lockdown as well) and dd2 just needing so much support I got nothing done.

I can’t go through that again - thank god their test is back so they can go to school today!

Pleasedontdothat · 18/09/2020 07:56

I hate the pattern of trailing something as a possibility, low-ranking government minister dismisses the idea, then hey presto it becomes fact ... they did it with masks and curfews now the bastards are doing it with a 2 week lockdown. Surely by now someone in the cabinet will be saying if lockdowns worked, we wouldn’t need another one?? They won’t be though will they? Bastards

JamSarnie · 18/09/2020 08:02

DH was shouting at the tv this morning when some women was being interviewed saying that a short lockdown would be good to get rid of the virus.

Are people so hard of thinking that they think oh shut everything down, which they forget we can't because ummm people need electricity/food/care etc, and the virus miraculously disappears.

With bells on.

My eldest (ASD) has just asked me how many times we’ve been locked down before covid.

... well that started a rant about not ever in my lifetime because it’s not supposed to happen in western democracies.

ISaySteadyOn · 18/09/2020 08:35

Considering as the phrase 'lock down' used to be mostly applied in the case of prison riots...

Can you remind me to stay off the school threads? It is bad for my blood pressure. Especially the ones where MN teachers make it clear how much they loathe children really.
