The naysayers voting to leave racist comments reminds me of when people burnt Nike products because they supported Kapernick. Like, Nike already had your money they didn’t give a fuck, but thanks for the promo.

@mumsnet I assume you’ve been reading these threads and I wonder, will you be making a general statement at the levels of hate and discrimination that we are seeing on Mumsnet?

I don’t know if this is something you’ve done before and I don’t want to speak for other users (regardless of hue), but I would find it reassuring to know how the site honchos feel about some of the posting that’s taken place.

Don't think we can count the last one because so many of the posters were racists. "Fuck off black people" voted for black perspectives.

I agree Mumsnet should make a general statement. All of those comments were from people finding the poll link through MN, majority are probably posters. The level of racism across these threads have been very revealing to say the least.
In a way I'm glad they have commented.
We need a thread, but we also need a black moderator or at minimum, a black nightwatcher/ extra talk guidelines.

Fuck it, if that what makes them happy then let them have their hate. I’m not going to change their minds and 🤞🏽 Won’t come across them in real life.

There’s a section of society that I don’t understand and haven’t really come into contact with. They are fighting for their rights and I support that as I don’t feel anyone should be discriminated against but it doesn’t really concern me so I leave them to it. If and when that occurs I’ll do some research, but until then I don’t get into any discussions when this section comes up because - I know fuck all about it. Some people need to take note of that approach.

I’m going to take comfort in the numbers of allies from all hues.

I'm hoping MNHQ will tighly moderate these threads. You're going to get an influx of "what about" and "genuine questions" and people attempting to take this space from you. I hope that people report and ignore, because engagement is exactly what the racists want. Don't let them derail this space for you. Good luck and I hope you get a lot from the space.

Hi OP. I've just read this thread fresh this morning. I don't have any background whatsoever on the other threads. But I just wanted to offer my support to you in light of your post that said you are struggling with the emotions of the threads with chronic illness.
It sounds like a really practical idea to have a space to discuss issues that affect black people.
I am white so will bow out now but good luck in your quest with getting everything set up.
