I like it Grin

@AMemeByAnyOtherName

AFAIK, the majority of posters who have disagreed with the idea, have identified themselves as (or alluded to the fact that they are) white. The majority of posters who have supported the idea are actually a healthy mix of (again, self identified) black and white posters. There have been very few posters who have identified themselves as black and have disagreed with the proposition. The majority of posters who have engaged and identified themselves as black have been in support of the new space. The space is intended to offer advice and support for issues that affect black people, so that is the demographic we are prioritising when it comes to ideas or concerns being put forwards. Taking into consideration all of the above, I don't think it would be appropriate to discard the idea of creating the section when it seems to be a welcome addition for a lot of people that it would directly affect. Therefore, I think the few that do largely disagree with the concept should voice their concerns to MNHQ ([email protected]) in order that any amendments that are important to make are heard by the right people, ie: the team that is creating the section at MNHQ.
I just saw this.

I think there was only one or 2 black posters that disagreed with the idea. Or maybe even that one poster upthread. I think the other agreed with the idea but not with me.

Would be weird if there were suddenly floods more posters disagreeing who identify themselves as being black. I think we're past the mulling stages though so it won't make a difference. I can't wait to see the new board Grin

gingerfreckles · 14/09/2020 02:49

I imagine that there are other posters like myself (who is black) who have thoughts about the new section but when you ask OP a question that is responded to by how many fucks is given it's hard to take the OP seriously 😒

FedUpSomeMore · 14/09/2020 02:57

I commented on the last thread but didn't read the last few hundred posts. The ones I did see where bad enough. I stopped when someone mentioned their Jamaican friend marrying a white man and living in a nice village and saying you have a chip on your shoulder Hmm

I'm happy to vote if you send a PM with a code.

AMemeByAnyOtherName · 14/09/2020 03:14

Ginger, two of your three posts were deleted for breaking talk guidelines, and the one gem that stayed up was disputing the idea of having the section at all, for the fiftieth time on that same thread, when having the section was already firmly in place. I don't see what kind of people you'd expect to take you seriously. All you had to do was read a few posts back 😒

If you disagree with the section, why don't you convey that in a polite way?

I don't need to discuss it with you but you're welcome to put across why you disagree with it.

Though as Meme says we are well beyond that stage.

I can't wait to have this section so we can discuss at our leisure Smile

I've been up vomiting too, two nights in a row. I thought I was being silly thinking it's stress but you're right, these threads are really something.

I'm going to try to sleep now. I'm sure absolutely nothing interesting will happen while I'm away Grin.

Night all!

PatricksRum · 14/09/2020 03:28

Hope you feel better soon, Meme.
Take it easy, it does take it out of you.

Sleep well Thanks

Hi. Can I have a code please?
I was a very early poster on your first post, PatricksRum.
I gave up on that quite quickly when it started getting ugly.
Well done for what you have achieved so far.
I hope that it's up and running asap.

lboogy · 14/09/2020 04:26

I would think tying the thread to BLM by calling it BMM is risky as it is initially American group and there could be events in the future such as violent marches which will then attract those with a racist agenda.

OP can you send me the code please, though if Black Perspectives was winning I’m still happy to take the last poll Smile.

The naysayers voting to leave racist comments reminds me of when people burnt Nike products because they supported Kapernick. Like, Nike already had your money they didn’t give a fuck, but thanks for the promo.

@PatricksRum I’m very concerned that this is affecting you, you’ve fought the good fight, feel free to take a little break from these threads.

@mumsnet I assume you’ve been reading these threads and I wonder, will you be making a general statement at the levels of hate and discrimination that we are seeing on Mumsnet?

I don’t know if this is something you’ve done before and I don’t want to speak for other users (regardless of hue), but I would find it reassuring to know how the site honchos feel about some of the posting that’s taken place.
