I think it would be great if Mumsnet could make a black parents section/ section for black users.

This thread is a fucking embarrassment for white people. I don't know how whites got to this position of power and privilege when so many of us are so fucking thick.

I hope you get your board, OP.

PatricksRum · 10/09/2020 20:43

@june2007

So if your Asian this site won,t be for you. If your an Arab it seems it,s not for you. Infact one poster said Afro carribean only so no one from any other Ethnic manorirty? I do get why people want it, but having followed some of OP,s other very offensive threads in the past it seems it exists to boost her ego.
Yeah. I definitely get an ego boost from a section where i feel safe to post with those like me!

Scotsnet didn't ask for different moderation. It also didn't start from a basis of saying non-Scottish people couldn't ask questions or could be banned for asking goady questions

Yes. And that's because Scotsnet was very unlikely to be continually mithered by posters who hate and fear the Scots...
Why does anyone who isn't Black care if Black mums have a topic to chat? Why do you care if it doesn't concern you?
Do you think they will use it to plot against the White people??(I'm starting to think, yes, this is what some people believe..!)

I don't believe it's because people are thick. Some of it is genuinely malice.

I bumped into a Twitter thread a few months back of a white man coaching people on how to derail any conversation regarding diversity including gems like (I'm paraphrasing)

  • feign innocence and ask as many questions as possible because you want to "understand"
  • question everything, and ask for clarification no matter how obvious
  • tell them you don't understand or are confused
  • phrase everything back to them to ask if it will be okay if white people did it and ask why that isn't racist
  • ask why conversations like this don't result in more racism
  • say you don't see colour just humans
  • accuse them of being racist by focusing so much on colour and expecting you "pay for what your ancestors did"
The whole thing will unravel and they will expose themselves as the real racists or get some bored and exasperated they will opt to stop on their own

So I struggle to believe so many people are genuinely so "thick"

MonkeyToesOfDoom
How does anyone here even know you are who you claim you are? For all anyone here knows you're a 65 year old white edl member that's just trolling and.kicking up a fuss.

Nah.

They are all too busy being apoplectic and wearing out keyboards on mums.unmentionables. Apparently MM wore an offensive shade of nail polish in her back garden and this means the world will stop spinning.

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 10/09/2020 21:00

OP I hope MN sets it it soon !

MeridaTheBold · 10/09/2020 21:01

@HepzibahGreen maybe you should have read ALL my post where I said I understood why OP felt differently about those issues. Your cherry-picking is exactly the type of bad faith posting I was talking about.

DioneTheDiabolist · 10/09/2020 21:02

I believe it's ok to tell posters on the FWR board and SEN board and the new Black topic to fuck off if they're being goady and/or idiots, so no hypocrisy here @kitmerow.

Hormonecrazyhell · 10/09/2020 21:03

Ye great idea, if you what you want is a return to segregation Confused I though inclusion for all was key

Tempusfudgeit · 10/09/2020 21:06

Tenhillplace How would an average Pakistani father react if his daughter brought home a black boyfriend?

Return to it?

We're still living it. We don't have equal opportunities.

midgebabe · 10/09/2020 21:11

Inclusion for all is key, exactly why we should have a black board
No one should be denied a board because of the colour of their skin

JimMaxwellantheshippingforcast · 10/09/2020 21:17

I just read the op and thought

Sure, why not?

Then I carried on reading and wished I hadn't 😩.

Good luck op, I hope mnhq listen

Dawnlassie · 10/09/2020 21:18

How does black parenting differ from white or brown parenting?

Should we split ever category into different skin colours?

Christ, it's hard not to get angry at the sheer ignorance of some people. You really don't have a fucking clue what segregation is/was do you?
Pan2 · 10/09/2020 21:25

"How does black parenting differ from white or brown parenting?"

Dawn, have a go at answering your own question? Finding the answers by your own effort is really rewarding.

midgebabe · 10/09/2020 21:25

Segregation,,,,it's a long word right? I sound smart using it?

Longtalljosie · 10/09/2020 21:33

Well the great thing about this bloody awful thread is it makes @PatricksRum‘s point for her. I hope black Mumnetters do get their own space. Some of the threads recently where white people explain a micro aggression was a misunderstanding have been an utter embarrassment

@derxa

I hope you get your board OP. It really isn't comparable but as a Scot I'm glad Scotsnet is there. It's like putting on a pair of comfy old slippers after wearing tight shoes.
This is lovely and illluminating. There's a board I go on which feels like 'me' because it's an issue that is fundamental to my existence, and I don't have to explain things in the way I would on any of the other boards.

Hope you get the same, OP!
