Would this be two portions in your house?

If you look at the per portion calories each piece is about 95g. The NHS recommends a portion of fish is 140g in weight.

Would this pack feed two people in your house? DH and I are in disagreement.

Yes, one piece of fish per person

ButterflyRuns · 29/08/2020 21:08

Yes, I think so.

zaffa · 29/08/2020 21:08

Yes, we would make two portions with that. Although mostly we eat white fish with Mediterranean roasted veg and steamed potatoes so it flakes in with the veg and portions can be stretched that way

I would say it would serve two people - it says it contains 240g so two portions of 120g each.

BikeRunSki · 29/08/2020 21:10

Yes, one piece each.

Thisismytimetoshine · 29/08/2020 21:10

I suppose so, but the pieces are very small.

TigerDroveAgain · 29/08/2020 21:11

Don’t be ridiculous. This is MN. That’s plenty for 4 plus leftovers

In the real world: that feeds 2. It would be a lot for one but not so much that you COULDN’T eat it

RandomTree · 29/08/2020 21:11

Yes, but if one of you thinks it’s not enough for two people then that’s ok too. Fish is really healthy so it’s not like you’d be overeating if you bought more another time.

Canyousewcushions · 29/08/2020 21:12

Yes; if it didn't look very generous I'd cube it and use a recipe that bulks it up with tomatoes, peppers and bacon to make it look like a bigger serving.

LionLily · 29/08/2020 21:12

Yes there'll be two portions of 120g, with about 120cals in each.
Small for someone not watching their intake, but do-able with generous sides.

DamnShesaSexyChick · 29/08/2020 21:14

Yes, two portions.

Whatthebloodyell · 29/08/2020 21:14

Definitely for two, especially as it costs £5!

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 29/08/2020 21:15

Depends how hungry I was.

Lucked · 29/08/2020 21:15

Yes but I would also give the same portion to my primary school aged children. We would have more sides/potatoes than them. Now if you are low carbing and it is just that and some broccoli then I would want a double portion.

Emmagen · 29/08/2020 21:15

Yes 2 people here as well.

Its one of the reasons we have fish rarely, we both find fish portions small but it's too expensive to have more.

We also tend to bulk it up in a pie or served with something filling like a baked potato.

CyclesPerfecta · 29/08/2020 21:15

If it’s 2 portions, then definitely 1 each. Can always add more veg if needed.

lborgia · 29/08/2020 21:16

In theory, yes, but I'm more likely to to make double, both have a bit more fish, and use leftovers for 1 lunch/ stretched into fish cakes or similar.

I do not find white fish filling, but love the flavour.

InDeoEstMeaFiducia · 29/08/2020 21:16

Depends on how hungry you are, what you've eaten already today. Do you let the NHS run your life? They can run a piss up in a brewery, why wouldn't you just use your common sense instead?

BogRollBOGOF · 29/08/2020 21:17

Yes that's two portions unless I was splitting one between the kids to make 3.

KenAdams · 29/08/2020 21:19

Ha I think its enough @InDeoEstMeaFiducia but DH thinks its a ridiculously small portion for a main meal in a day when he's allowed 2000 calories.

Portion sizes always seem too small to me.
Probably why I’m overweight, not that fish would have done it, try and bulk it up a bit with veg?

Proudpeacock · 29/08/2020 21:20

I think I would probably add prawns to the dish to add a bit more protein otherwise I would be hungry later (and end up eating pringles)

Bakeachocolatecaketoday · 29/08/2020 21:20

1 portion if it's a low carb type fish and steamed veg meal.

2 portions if battered with chips and peas....

emwithme · 29/08/2020 21:21

Sort of. It would do me and toddler DD, but she LOVES fish nearly as much as I do. I don't think it's two decent sized adult portions.

TheCanyon · 29/08/2020 21:22

The look like large pieces, depends on how big your portions are I guess. Dh would serve it as a portion each whereas I think as it's large it would do two portions each.

Also who knew supermarkets had comment sections, we can't get Waitrose here but I'll definitely be returning to the site just to read them Grin
