Was thinking about this today.

Some just grate.

My most memorable and favourite is the late Michael Winner when he did the Littlejohn show. (Showing my age). I thought he'd come out and be just as vile.

For anyone who missed it, here's the link

What's yours?

Good question! Will have a think.

AngelSings · 26/08/2020 20:40

Peter André.

DaanSaaf · 26/08/2020 22:00

Lady gaga. Thought she was an overrated Madonna rip off until I saw A Star Is Born.

AgeLikeWine · 26/08/2020 22:08

Jamie Oliver.

When he started out, I thought he was a ‘mockney’ tosser from a privileged background. Turned out he was actually a genuine Essex boy who grew up above a pub, struggled at school, went to catering college and through his own hard work became a successful businessman who created hundreds of jobs. Obviously, I don’t agree with everything he says but his intentions are generally in the right place.

cariadlet · 26/08/2020 22:15

I remember the first time I saw that Michael Winner clip and being amazed at how lovely he was because he'd always seemed quite obnoxious.

Mine is Michael Portillo. Loathed him when he said was in government. He seemed to be the epitome of a privileged, smarmy Tory; I was thrilled when he lost his seat in the '97 election. I quite like him now that he's out of politics and just does travel programmes.

AriesTheRam · 26/08/2020 22:15

Kate Garraway but then wgen I saw her on i.a.c.g.m.o
o.h my opinion of her changed.

Standrewsschool · 26/08/2020 22:22

Rylan - could never understand what Louis (I think) saw in him on X Factor. However, he seems to be a genuine, caring bloke, and surprisingly good on the radio.

Elderflower14 · 26/08/2020 22:26

Keith Floyd... Not nearly so crazy when he spent the weekend with our family... Was very funny when he asked my sister for a mallet to shut me up... When my now ex bro in law was unkind to me KF who was sitting next to me said quietly that I shouldn't let him speak to me like that... He was full of praise for my Mum's cooking too. Circumstances changed and I never saw him again. Was genuinely sad when he died...

Me too! I was going to say Kate Garraway, I’m A Celeb really changed my opinion, I always turned over when she was on tv before but she really stood up to the sexist pigs and came across so well.
Camassia · 26/08/2020 22:30

Used to loathe Piers Morgan when he was editor of the Daily Mirror. Then when he started doing life stories and BGT I changed my mind about him and became quite a fan.

However, after seeing his performances on GMB of late, I've changed it back again as I was right in the first place.

Icanflyhigh · 26/08/2020 22:31

Ricky Gervais.
I couldn't stand him until I watched afterlife.

Dnadoon · 26/08/2020 22:32

Christine Lampard really used to grate...love her now!

Blackesteyes · 26/08/2020 22:33

Kate Middleton, couldn’t stand her, lazy waste of space
Duchess of Cambridge, IMO will be a good Queen Consort

gaggiagirl · 26/08/2020 22:34

Agree with Michael portillo. Absolutely fell in love with him watching his travel shows.

LaurieFairyCake · 26/08/2020 22:35

I used to really dislike Cheryl Cole

Now I fucking hate her

Finewine1976 · 26/08/2020 22:38

Vicky Pattinson

SuckingDownDarjeeling · 26/08/2020 22:38

Stormzy. I couldn't stand his 'music' and I still can't bear it. But I'm willing to look past his awful music since I found out how hard he's been trying to encourage young minorities into higher education and throwing a lot of money at the problem. Absolutely not what I expected from him.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 26/08/2020 22:39

Neil Oliver
All the shampoo advert style hair tossing really annoyed me.
Then I read his Vikings book and it turns out he writes really well, and his recent standing up for free speech on Twitter has completed his rehabilitation.

MozzchopsThirty · 26/08/2020 22:45

Yes yes yes to Kate Garraway, I love her now
Same for Piers.
Ricky Gervais since watching Afterlife & Derek
Stacey Solomon
Nick Grimshaw

The reverse is a much bigger list, people I used to like but now could happily put a spade in their neck:

Holly Willougby
Pip Schofield
Dermot O'Leary
Chris Evans
Christine Lampard
Simon Cowell

GlummyMcGlummerson · 26/08/2020 22:47

Helen Flanagan (Rosie Webster from Corrie).

Couldn't stand her on IACGMOOH. But motherhood seems to be the making of her. Love her now!

Elderflower14 · 26/08/2020 22:47

@Standrewsschool. It was Nicole who mentored Rylan.

☺ ☺

MondeoFan · 26/08/2020 22:49

Vanessa Feltz

Used to think she was awful and liked the sound of her own voice. Really like her now, I always watch her on phone-in on This Morning and she has some really good advice for a lot of callers.

Anordinarymum · 26/08/2020 22:50

I dislike French and Saunders and always have, but Jennifer Saunders apart from Dawn French gets my vote. I mean anyone who is married to Ade Edmondson (what a lovely man) gets the thumbs up from me.

OhioOhioOhio · 26/08/2020 22:50

Vanessa Feltz. I think she's really clever and full of empathy now. Before I thought she was crass.
