I'm delurking for a moan. I'm due to fly out on Wednesday to book my destination wedding (MNetters would hate me). Need a negative test to do this. Went last night to a drive in and done the horrible thing and still no results 😭 can't get another test tomorrow as they want to send me 135 miles away and DP needs to work.

I need a negative test to be allowed to fly. I'm not someone who is normally anxious but by god today has been awfully. I actually feel physically unwell with it.

I'm just so sick fucking fed up of all this bullshit. I have had nothing for me for months. No study and my job is in an industry is still not allowed to open 😡 just let me go book my wedding for fuck sake!!

Apologies that was very self indulgent but these threads have been a lifeline and I feel very sorry myself this evening knowing I probably won't get my 4 days childfree 😂 all inclusive break to finally get a wedding booked!

And breathe ....

BogRollBOGOF · 24/08/2020 21:40

I hope your negative response comes back pronto!

Everything is such hard work/ conditional/ uncertain. It's crap, crap crap.
It almost, but not quite makes you nostaglic when you could commit murder by eating crisps on a bench and roll eyes by second waves caused by VE day congas...
Life was simpler then, albeit mind crushingly boring. Wink

BakewellTarts · 24/08/2020 21:42

@Dollybagwash I think thats part of what the AD threads exist for to allow us to let off steam in a safe place. Fingers crossed you get to fly and have your much needed break.

TheOrchidKiller · 24/08/2020 21:43

@Dollybagwash you're not being self-indulgent, & you're fine to moan away here.

Test anxiety is horrible, especially when so much hangs on it. The "stay at home" if you test positive is such a throwaway sentence but has massive implications for people. Two weeks is a long time to not work, not earn money, not go to school, not see other humans, or to miss a long-planned, expensive event. To be disappointed, or to anticipate disappointment, is allowed. I hope it all comes together for you.

Another storm coming, so I've googled the few, open, indoor tourist attractions in our small city for adults on yet another frigging staycation- nada! Why are so many places still shut?

RealityExistsInTheHumanMind · 24/08/2020 21:46

@wanderings

😁 I knew it was sarcasm and I've definitely heard of Saint Nicola but not our own dear fucking BoJo

Thanks ladies. Obviously I knew it might not happen and was fine with that we have only paid for really cheap flights but I'm so annoyed. They told us we would have results today. I didn't expect to be in limbo so close to me flying.

I just want to know either way! Don't get me started on Nicola fucking sturgeon. Can you imagine being at a party with her and someone comes with a tray of sambucca? She would be the arsehole saying oh I don't think that's a good idea I will have a soda and lime 🙄

That's not mocking people who don't drink btw it's a route I'm keen to go down when life goes back to normal but to illustrate the fact she is the utter fucking fun police!

I think you've nailed it there. Life was also a bit hopeful then. VE Day was 3 and a half months ago, we'd only been in lockdown about 6 weeks, & we were all encouraged to hold community-spirited, socially-distanced street parties. I think people did because it was a novelty then. I felt more hopeful back then, kept going because it felt like we were moving forwards.

We're now hearing how hard the autumn & winter is going to be. Some of us haven't had a summer yet.

On a right downer tonight. Not for the first time I want to run screaming across a field (the back won't hold out though).

Pixel7777 · 24/08/2020 21:58

It's all an act. She didn't care or do much about the AIDS or drugs crisis in some of Scotland's cities...

Pixel7777 · 24/08/2020 21:59

Nicola that is

TheOrchidKiller · 24/08/2020 21:59

Nicola would not be at a party. It's tartan dressing gown buttoned up to the neck, cocoa made with water & bed by 9pm for her!

Pixel7777 · 24/08/2020 22:00

I'm pretty low too. It's sad that those counrties who did the lockdown not only got in so much debt, and caused so much stress, but overall it is now going on as if they did not...just bought some time really. What was the point of it all? (sorry of sounding a bit doom and gloom)

Windyjuly · 24/08/2020 22:06
  • op or maybe in that post the '' flimsy visor '' is better than expected!!

What are these threads about by the way...

I'm not dreaming of bum tomatoes... I put much money and time into tomatos since March and my crop has been 2 extremely delicious but tiny cherry tomatoes.

I am however dreaming of next years holidays!!

BakewellTarts · 24/08/2020 22:06

Never mind St Nic missing the party BoJo would get it rolling!!! Although whether you'd want to attend that either is a good question.

It is grim still very little to actually look forward to I think BogRoll is right you can't be spontaneous but also you can't plan as nothing is certain. It leaves you in an odd limboland of grey.

Windyjuly · 24/08/2020 22:08

Grin cocoa made with water 😂😂😂😂.

I wouldn't trust anyone, so obsessed with hating others just for being under a banner!! She's an obsessed one trick pony m

Ibake · 24/08/2020 22:27

@Pixel7777 it's a good article but I did find myself getting irritated with it. To say the Guardian has probably been one of the most D of MSM is an understatement. The MSM have been utterly culpable in whipping up the masses and feeding on people's fear so I find it a bit galling now to watch them heap all that blame firmly at BoJo's feet, not evenly remotely acknowledging the role of MSM leading up to the schools closing, and then remaining shut. In particular:

The case for closing schools, and certainly primary schools, was intended to sensationalise Johnson’s 23 March U-turn from herd immunity to lockdown. There was no evidence that schools were hubs of infectivity, but a clear likelihood that closure would increase every harm from missed education to parental unemployment and domestic violence.

What sanctimonious bullshit when they were screaming loudest of all for lockdown, herd immunity was a murderous plan, schools to shut and bollox to any death other than covid. And now they're trying to rewrite history. Hypocrites.

WouldBeGood · 24/08/2020 22:33

I read rumours on twitter that there’s another side to Queen Nic.. but couldn’t really believe it 😂

Think the buttoned up tartan and water cocoa much more likely.

justasking111 · 24/08/2020 22:38

Our local hospital put up a post on FB this morning saying they were busy preparing for the second wave. WTF I e-mailed them 5 times since June about the cancellation of an urgent op. back in March they never once replied now my MP is on it fingers crossed. When OH got in I raged to him about it. Guess what it has been removed. A few friends work there and are raging themselves about being bored out of their brains watching the tumbleweed blow through the corridors.

RealityExistsInTheHumanMind · 24/08/2020 22:45

Had my one and only Rishi Dish out today with 2 friends. It was so nice to do something normal.

Saw them in the garden 6 weeks ago and they were still very scared (both vulnerable) but happy to meet outside. Now they are both so over it and were very happy to hear some of the 'good' news reports that I could share.

Just when you think things could not get any nuttier.

Gavin Williamson promises all schools will get stock of Covid home tests ahead of next week's reopening to give to pupils who become ill in class - and insists they will only close amid a local coronavirus outbreak as an 'absolute last resort'

Now anyone think sticking things down your throat and up your nose should be something left to a trained professional sigh....

Evening all.

Un-mnetty hugs for all on downers today.

I am staying away from other threads as the mood i.am in will get me banned for eternity!
Fucking supermarket is run by morons. No forward planning as to what would happen when giving meals away for fecking pennies. Staff are working themselves to death and have to ask for overtime just to do what they expect us to do! (Brought out a ban on overtime at our busiest time ever!!!!) Having to tell customers we have run out of stuff and not got deliveries yet from when we ran out last week! It's embarrassing. Don't have enough cutlery, have they supplied more? have they hell. I am in agony from the amount of trays of food I have carried, plates and cups and tins I have carted around at clean up time. If i had any energy I would cry. I don't blame folks wanting a treat out to some nice restaurant for half price meals but no way on gods earth would I be waiting an hour for fucking fish and chips or sausage egg and chips I could make in 20 minutes at home! The queue starts at 8am and continues until 7. It's utter madness. And apparently there are rumours that it's being extended..
Well fuck that for a game of soldiers. I know places that have already stopped it because they cannot cope with the stupid guidelines on how many staff they are allowed etc and the amount of customers they are getting. (Not that ours has a problem with that we are all inches away from each other but of course wearing disposable masks for 7 or 8 hour solid is the solution)

I am done with this all now. Fecking Boris, fecking Sturgeon, (if they are following "the science where does taking masks off and on 6 times a day fit with that never mind wearing the same mask all day?) and fecking dementors revelling in making life as miserable as possible and crowing about how we need to continue this for another 6 months. When people look back on this and learn about how people acted in the future in thier history/social studies they will wonder wtf was wrong with us that we allowed so many people in society to be pushed under a bus, so many health conditions went ignored causing untold suffering and lost so many businesses to.the Great God Covid.
And breath!

Would book a holiday for next year if i could guarentee we could actually go and this shitstorm would be over. But then prices will be skyrocketing so probably cant afford one😄😄😅

Who do I need to fuck to get off this boat?

I hope the kids throw up on them my eldest would have in a nanosecond.🤣🤣😃

The bit where the teachers have permission to do it is going to lead to parents accusing them of assault if you ask me
justasking111 · 24/08/2020 23:14

@Willow2017 My DS is working in a restaurant my relative owns. Everyone in hospitality locally is sick to death of bloody Rishi. People who would not normally be in a naice restaurant are being abusive to staff because their food is not arriving as fast as their McDonalds does. The tips are non existent from these low lifes. Some of the restaurants have dropped the Help eat offer just to get them to shove off somewhere else.

WouldBeGood · 24/08/2020 23:14

To be fair the Government has plenty experience of sticking things up noses.

@Willow2017 sounds exhausting

TheOrchidKiller · 24/08/2020 23:25

DD was moaning last night about the extension of Eat Out to Help Out. They are on their knees too. She's dreading bank holiday Monday (so am I, for her bad mood).
