ADs deflower male cucumbers for the Greater Good. All phallic aubergines welcome .

Because bitter male cucumbers don't bring joy, but phallic aubergines can raise an irreverent smile.

AD chat continues about life, the universe and everything. We know the answer is 42 but what is the question?
6x7?
How many roads must a man walk down?
How many unsadly reincarnations have PHE put into the database?

@ButterMeCrumpets after they've gone to all the effort to make desserts it would be rude not to

mightbealittlebitmad · 14/08/2020 10:03

I still can't get over the hysteria of everyone, cases are increasing but nothing else is, so good news yes?! Heard from family in Spain, they now have to wear masks in all public areas indoor and out. Just when things start looking a bit better the madness increases again.

Good news on soft play, I'll be first in line but I have to admit I'm a bit confused. Not long ago there were discussions about closing stuff down again. With cases rising it surprises me a little because I thought they were panicking and not thinking logically. Maybe now they've realised we don't need to panic after all, I will keep my fingers crossed but I won't be holding my breath.

Checking in. Thanks for the new thread. DP planted tomatoes from seed months ago and they have yet to even produce a single flower so I'm afraid I've given up even watering them.
Off to Yorkshire today to see family.

OMG @bakingcupcakes that makes me feel old. DS1 was a baby then

Worldgonecrazy · 14/08/2020 10:05

Ventured onto other threads. Can’t believe the number of Brits who admire totalitarian military regimes and think we should be more like them to stop Covid. Because absolutely nothin else matters these days other than eradicating Covid.

One of my earliest memories is of being forced to watch the Berlin wall coming down on the news as it was 'significant'. I had no idea what it meant at the time

You are a wee nipper, @bakingcupcakes

Ladyoftheimprovisedbath that article looks really good, thanks for sharing

Welcometothelifeboatparty · 14/08/2020 10:25

Taken this from a BBC News story today:

"Data released on Thursday by NHS England showed that rising cases were not matched by an increase in the number of people in hospital in the NHS trusts that serve either of these councils (Leicester and Blackburn).
The number of people admitted to hospital for the first time with Covid-19 did increase in Leicester in June, but the rise was much smaller than the rise in confirmed cases.
In July, Leicester saw 1,336 cases but only seven people were admitted to hospital with Covid-19"

Looks suspiciously like good news to me.

Having shared that, I'm off out to walk the dog. Or at least, drop my dd at the park so she can do it Grin

Interesting todays new scientist is telling me we may by 2024 have a vaccine from RSV viruses that causes many common colds and sometimes serious problems in young children.

There are also groups working on vaccines for metapumovirus and parainflenza - vacination could stop many developing asthma. It was some kind of cold that was trigger for DS developing asthma and final straw for me.

Wonder if they are getting coverage due to all the covid-19 vaccine talk - they had articles on that with concerns fewer people than previous willing to take one and problems in who'd get a vaccine.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 14/08/2020 10:28

Welcometothelifeboatparty that does sound like good news.

WouldBeGood · 14/08/2020 10:32

Morning all you filthy vegetable lovers 😃

NoisyBrain · 14/08/2020 10:33

Hello all.
Not sure how many of these threads I've missed. I've been abroad
The (grimly predictable) 'serves them right' post in AIBU gave me the rage so I had to seek out some sanity again.

Shock wash your mouth out with soap!

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 14/08/2020 10:53

Sounds like good news to me too. But no doubt it will be because of the masks and the billionty other crap rules so we'll be stuck with them for ages... Because they're working!

Hadn't realised (just slipped my mind) that the masks everywhere indoors now means that I will have to mask up for two hours tomorrow morning for a kids birthday party. It's been rearranged from the start of lockdown and DD is so excited about going. When the invite was reissued it was masks optional, obviously the rules have now changed but I hadn't put two and two together until yesterday. Urgh. Hoping that adults are allowed to sit at the café tables bit (it's an activity place) and drink coffee so I can demask once I've delivered DD.

Checking in, thanks for the new thread BogRollBOGOF.

Happy Friday all. Any exciting plans for the weekend?

DominaShantotto · 14/08/2020 11:07

Checking in - killing time till my first deferred exam goes up and online. DH has gone into the local town - we finally sold the kids' old bunk bed yesterday (dismantled it just before lockdown and it's been blocking our garden shed since then as we couldn't sell it while the world was social distancing mad) and the guy paid cash - and of course nowhere flipping takes cash these days so he's gone into the town to put it in the bank!

WouldBeGood · 14/08/2020 11:08

Good luck @DominaShantotto

I had a garage clear out/mass sell of baby equipment over the last couple of months and ended up with £450 cash! Took me weeks to build up the energy to deal with the aggro of taking three young kids to the bank.

Good luck @DominaShantotto Star
