ADs deflower male cucumbers for the Greater Good. All phallic aubergines welcome .

Because bitter male cucumbers don't bring joy, but phallic aubergines can raise an irreverent smile.

AD chat continues about life, the universe and everything. We know the answer is 42 but what is the question?
6x7?
How many roads must a man walk down?
How many unsadly reincarnations have PHE put into the database?

@LivinLaVidaLoki

Oh my god I just realised....with all the ranting I forgot to share some good news.

I've been accepted onto a Masters Degree course through work. Fully funded.

Congratulations!

Fantastic news congratulations.

Loved your rant BTW and completely agree.

@FluffyKittensinabasket

I’ve stopped caring. I wear a mask and stand away from people to save any aggro. But I don’t believe any of it.
I do that too.
CruCru · 23/08/2020 11:07

Actually I think I’m due a smear. I’m at the other house so haven’t opened any post for about six months. The thing is, I get a bit ... tense so usually sing when I’m having one. I have a feeling they won’t be cool with that now.

TheOrchidKiller · 23/08/2020 11:22

@CruCru Won't they be down The Business End, which is nowhere near any singing? And if you're lying down most of your breath will be directed at the ceiling.
Can't see what the issue is myself! Grin

CruCru · 23/08/2020 11:28

Well, my breath will probably be in my mask.

Nighttimefreedom · 23/08/2020 11:31

@ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson

Congratulations *@LivinLaVidaLoki*! Great news. Do you start next month?

Hope you’re feeling better, @Dowser.

Is anyone else having terrible trouble getting DC to do anything that isn’t on a screen? DD was moderately obsessed with Minecraft pre-lockdown, but it’s got so much worse. We let her get away with a lot till June because it was a way of staying in touch with her friends, but it’s been really hard to pull it back. We’ve had two tantrums today because of it.

I'm definitely seeing the screen addiction with my littlest. She was not that bad at all pre lockdown. I'm hoping school starting will help. I sat down in her room with her the other day and got some toys out and asked her to play with me, which she did. We played for over an hour together which was lovely. Its just a shame any time she has alone is now on a screen. Maybe it was inevitable I don't know.
Nighttimefreedom · 23/08/2020 11:33

Also, bed times and all that has totally gone to pot. Hopefully school routine will help with all of that too.

How pregnant are you? My work also knows I'm pregnant and the risk assessment said I could go in but after 26 weeks would need to be extra careful about social distancing (almost no one is back in do this is not a problem at the moment).

Dowser · 23/08/2020 12:03

@Nighttimefreedom
Thank you I am a little bit better
Still feel a bit wobbly but going to make it outside today
I think that despite the showers , yesterday was a bit better day

Ahem
We need a new thread
And it’s not going to be me after my last cock up lol

@TrustTheGeneGenie

So, oh wise AD's should I book a holiday for next year or not?

I want to, but I'm worried that we won't have been allowed our freedom back by then, but if I don't book now, I'm worried prices will escalate well out of my budget or there won't be any availability.....

Don't know what to do for the best!

We were due to go to Portugal (near Lisbon) for a week in late May / early June and have rebooked for the same week next year. By then we'll have either developed a vaccine or a sense of proportion, or maybe even both. If not I'm rebelling and doing anyway
Nighttimefreedom · 23/08/2020 12:41

Sorry I was quoting @ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson in my message, but I am glad you're feeling better too.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 23/08/2020 12:48

There's way too much screen time here - there's not much locally to do so getting them out the house is just hard.

This next week I'll be trying to reign bedtimes times back as well for everyone - I think most of the household are owls by nature and we've slowly given into that.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 23/08/2020 13:48

Oh god screen time is insane here. DD is working her way through the entire Netflix catalogue. I've given up.

yoikes · 23/08/2020 14:07

We've gone feral tbh

CruCru · 23/08/2020 15:48

Just realised - a fortnight until my children go back to school. I must get them to do some music practice.

Willow2017 · 23/08/2020 16:00

@amicissimma

Reedwarbler, when I went to Auschwitz there was a Jewish guy on our tour, no Hebrew-language one being available. As we reached the end and learned the horror of what humans could do to their fellow humans, he said quietly to me 'These people didn't drop down from space'.
The one starkly obvious thing this year has told me is that those people are still hiding in plain sight. It's not something I would ever have imagined would happen in UK but I believe it could now. It's horrifying.
Willow2017 · 23/08/2020 16:03

Glad your improving Dowser did you make it outside?

BogRollBOGOF · 23/08/2020 16:04

Mine always were ferral night owls. It's not been worth the fight for the past 5 months. I think I'll just dredge them out of bed for school and hope a few days of that knackers them out so they go to sleep before 11pm... I haven't got the blood, sweat and tears left to fight their animalistic nature Wink

We currently have uproar in a paper aeroplane competition...

People are talking about checking their child’s oxygen saturation before school ... ?

Sallycinnamum · 23/08/2020 17:00

Been having a very down few days worrying about mine and DH's jobs although we both work in London so if the worse comes to the worse we will hopefully find something else. Just feels very stressful at the moment.

However went to local tap room and then out for a pizza with two friends last night and laughed so much on our walk home I had to stop as I was worried I was going to wet myself so a bit of welcome ahem relief from the Corona bollocks!

wanderings · 23/08/2020 17:11

@CruCru Perhaps it's up to us to remind the crowd of this in due course. When the pandemic is over, and someone starts coughing, the dementors will change their tune to "another pandemic is on the way: national lockdown wasn't that bad, we must do it early and properly, unlike last time".

If it comes to it, we need to REMIND everybody just how bad our "half-hearted" lockdown was, so that we DON'T have anything like it again. And they'll conveniently forget all the consequences of lockdown (recession, bad mental health, etc.)

Willow2017 · 23/08/2020 17:12

Jesus wept why???? If they are healthy why would you? Do they even know the kids normal %? Having seen people recording temps of 35 as normal on threads i don't believe everyone has suddenly become an expert on medical matters. My kids both have asthma eldest pretty much grew out of it but only time they have had o2 tested was during bad attacks/ chest infections. The world has gone fecking mad.

Good luck with that. Who are these families that have children who will magically get ready & sit very quietly & still to enable an accurate 02 sats reading? And no doubt a temperature reading too.

It was hard enough doing the basics like toast, tooth-brushing, and remembering at 8.30am that at least one of them needed a clean, empty 2L milk bottle for a project, without having to also check their vital signs.

Generally speaking, if they were up & getting ready for school (however disorganised & chaotic) they were well enough to go in.
