This is bizarre - basically just pics of the cars and none of the house

"... has photos if you select the lodge"

and what a soulless place the developer has turned it into...

Interestingly, if you search for the "estate agent" phone number on google they do seem to have had another property advertised on Rightmove.

and as for a private seller paying £1.5K to advertise on Rightmove for a month: that wouldn't be an awful price if you found a buyer within the month. I think estate agent fees on a £800K house would be a fair bit more than £1.5K.

Surely only Google Translate could produce such terrible grammar? Absolutely disgraceful!

Thecobwebsarewinning · 12/08/2020 07:56

A friend of ours marketed their house through Purple Bricks which for the London area has a fixed fee of £1500 , the same as one month on Rightmove. So Rightmove could be a good bet as long as you were STC within one month.

Their house sold for £825,000. Allowing for normal estate agent fees of 2%, using PB has saved them around £15000. It means they have had to take their own photos, set up appointments and show people round themselves but for that sort of saving it’s worth it. I will definitely consider it for myself when the time comes.

My goodness

Gravel paths
Car parking

And a few dingy shots of what looks like a dark and depressing add on to the car parking slots

Dreadful photography! Could it be any worse?

Pobblebonk · 12/08/2020 08:48

I keep seeing houses with Purple Bricks signs outside where the sign stays up for ages, only to be replaced ultimately with a standard Estate Agents' sign which does seem to turn into a Sold sign reasonably quickly. It looks like people round here don't want to buy through PB for some reason.

My theory
Its a family home and the son hasnt got much else to do right now as his haji tours business has gone down the pan. He is considering becoming an EA so has said to his parents (who are probably not originally from the UK) that he will sell the house for them. For some reason he had decided to do this as an EA rather than a private individual - but he is a bit clueless

The Haji tours business going down the pan is a very good point. It’s been stopped this year hasn’t it?

£1.5k for a month on RM is less than an estate agents commission would be.

Do you need to be registered with anyone or qualified to be an estate agent?

FlamingoAndJohn · 20/08/2020 16:33

I’ve just remembered this thread. I see it’s still on there but with some more pictures.

FlamingoAndJohn · 20/08/2020 16:40

I see the same agent has now got two other properties, including this one. www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-96111551.html

A friend of mine found a fees only estate agent who got her house onto Rightmove for £99
(she had to take all pictures, do the description and get a burner phone for buyers to contact)
sold it for the asking price in three weeks

That make sense if you are in a house that is in demand. Some houses sell straight from Rightmove some need pushing.

but the pictures and description were good - far better than many EAs
and they saved LOADS by going straight to web
