I was chatting to MIL today and she said FIL gave a wrong number for track and trace at the pub (outside so not likely to be close to anyone)!
Due to track and trace...

DominaShantotto · 28/07/2020 14:30

Considering that the infant school have rewritten their home-school agreement with people having to pledge to avoid public transport... they've got no chance on the car use right now.

Waiting for another video call for the GP. DH is going to have to field it this time - will see if we get a different response. I suspect we will.

Mrsfrumble · 28/07/2020 14:32

Right @Drivingdownthe101! I was going to make the point in the thread, but realised that I’d be pissing in the wind and decided to come and hang out with the chill ADs instead. Grin

PickAChew · 28/07/2020 14:58

DH did ikea, last night. No queue to get in but over half an hour at the checkouts!

I didn't get past the veg aisle on markses without getting pissed off with my mask. I wanted a csuki but couldn't check whether it smelled sweet or musty. I think I shall stick with single ply for food shops, from now on.

PickAChew · 28/07/2020 14:58

Cauli.

countrygirl99 · 28/07/2020 15:07

PickAChew I did dis retely remove my mask to below my nose to check strawberries in the supermarket at the weekend. Some varieties have no flavour and I'm not going to waste my money.

HeIenaDove · 28/07/2020 15:09

@PinkFondantFancy Also where the fuck are people in flats suppossed to store bikes. NOTHING not even a door mat is allowed in communal hallways since Grenfell.

DominaShantotto · 28/07/2020 15:11

Oh for fucks sake keep the sodding social housing fanaticism off the one bloody thread some of us have on here at the moment to get some support and sanity. We've tolerated it, we've turned a blind eye but its fucking beyond a joke.

TAKE IT ELSEWHERE!

countrygirl99 · 28/07/2020 15:12

The z key on my laptop isn't working so we now have a branch at Ashby De La Ouch

DominaShantotto · 28/07/2020 15:12

@countrygirl99

The z key on my laptop isn't working so we now have a branch at Ashby De La Ouch
DD had one of the school laptops without half the keys working the other week. I asked her if she told anyone... "nah I just typed a story without the letters QWERTY mum"
HeIenaDove · 28/07/2020 15:28

Okaayyyy Sorry Shant mention it again.

In other news im going shopping shortly. Will be trying out one of the Boots disposable masks Loops that go round the ears look flimsy. If it falls off my face on to the floor it aint going back on my face

Especially now.

countrygirl99 · 28/07/2020 15:30

Domina 😂😂

Increased number of posts this afternoon is because I am trying to add comments to my performance plan ahead of my half year review and am therefore very easily distracted. I don't think "I have mostly remained relatively cheerful while locked in my house dealing with Covid crap" will cut it. Even if I mention that I managed not to murder my DH while he had no work and kept trying to chat just as a deadline approached.

DominaShantotto · 28/07/2020 15:32

Oh god @countrygirl99 - DH is doing my head in. I'm trying to revise for this phonetics exam and every time I start playing the revision clips he starts asking me completely inane questions about what I want for tea.

I'd kill him if it wasn't for the size of th hole I'd have to dig to bury the body.

Wherearemyminions · 28/07/2020 15:32

Went to Lidl earlier, first shop with muzzle on. It totally fucks with my spatial awareness, no idea why that is, but I was bumping into things all the way round. Wore it fine at hairdressers the other week but I suppose that was just sitting in a chair :)

torydeathdrug · 28/07/2020 15:34

I have to say I’m Confused and Hmm at all the snaking queues. You might be 2m away from the back of the person in front of you but you’re considerably less than a metre from the person alongside & facing in the opposite direction to you! So silly (I’m looking at you Legoland, John Lewis & Ikea!).

IAintentDead · 28/07/2020 15:35

I'm on a couple of Turkey groups on FB. There rules are masks everywhere whilst moving around. Sitting be it in a restaurant, pub, sunbed then you can remove it. Allegedly police enforced with 900 TL instant fines (just over £100)
Apparently in Olu Deniz , which is where I go mostly, no one is wearing them and no one is bothered. Most people saying great with the odd one moaning that they will get locked down and prevent others going.

HeIenaDove · 28/07/2020 15:38

I didnt mind the social distancing Or the queues. Its the masks.

countrygirl99 · 28/07/2020 15:38

@DominaShantotto same here, hole would need to be far too big. I was getting detailed rundowns on which birds where at the feeders and what photos he had taken from thev"hide" (aka porch). Thank goodness he has some work now even if not fully booked.

Orangeblossom78 · 28/07/2020 15:50

I agree about flats and bikes Helena and not just a social housing thing. We're in an owned building and couldn't leave one instead, either...

all this chat of building cycle tracks too...most places have them anyway..

Greggs is doing well I hear...Wink good for the tummies!

HeIenaDove · 28/07/2020 15:54

YY Orange The private flats further down the road are the same too.

Our town centre has a bike stand which allows for three bikes to be padlocked there Just three.

Infrastructure just isnt there.

DominaShantotto · 28/07/2020 15:59

Have antibiotics prescription on the way to the pharmacy for DD2's arm finally - it's taken two full days of us sitting by the phone to achieve that - in normal times the nurse would have rang us and booked us in to see her (not needing the GP), quickly looked at it and given us a prescription. Would have taken a morning max.

DominaShantotto · 28/07/2020 16:04

My uni city HAS the cycling infrastructure - but none of them use it because it's quicker to just bomb it down the pedestrianised areas and ignore the cycle lanes anyway. You typically nearly get knocked over by at least 3 uber/deliverooeats drivers doing the Macdonalds breakfast shuttle run on the way from the station to campus on a morning on a good day!

Mrsfrumble · 28/07/2020 16:09

Also agree on flats and bike storage, it’s an issue for lots of city dwellers, not just those in social housing. They’ve tried to solve it round here with “bike hangars” in the street that you can rent a space in. Unfortunately they seem really easy to break in to, so are just easy prey for bike thieves.

My bike’s been out of action for ages, so I could definitely use the £50 voucher to get it sorted out.

@DominaShantotto so pupils at your DC’s school can’t take public transport?? Confused

BogRollBOGOF · 28/07/2020 16:11

Had a lovely few quiet hours with DH up the other end of the country. The DCs were pleasantly entertaining themselves.

There is now a loud, monotone speakerphone call about valves echoing through the house. This is the most annoying bit about WFH.
