@DominaShantotto glad you got the antibiotics, they should work fast now. What a faff you have had.

Been down to marina the pub on the front has 140 seats on their decking, tables of four socially spaced. The place was packed, the queue waiting for tables went out into the car park. All ages waiting patiently for their meal in the fresh air. Very few masks.

Treated myself to a cornetto in the little shop. Lovely to see people wandering around the place some with dogs, plenty of children. Conwy was busy too when we drove through.

Interesting a mixture of opinions just as there are on here but more politely put in the Guardian Grin

Our cycle lanes are the bloody footpaths. Cyclists love it, of course and expect to be able to ride along them at full pelt while us foolish pedestrians leap out of the way, whether they ping their barely audible bell or not. The 2 lane paths are no better. Had a bit of a to do with Ds2, this morning, about him being a man, not a bike. It's even more of a headache on the less well marked out paths. The rule of thumb seems to be that the cyclists get the nice smooth tarmac while we get the knackered, uneven and lethal when it's frosty, concrete paving slabs.

I kind of wish the government would calm down with all it's ideas a bit, it is almost starting to seem like a kind of 'slightly endearing old auntie' in an odd way, with an undercurrent of reactive drama..

Checking in.
Had a bit of an AD thread catch up. Wondering if the threads are getting a bit more argumentative.
Maybe I'm just being too sensitive but I hope they stay a safe place to say anything (unless it's very obviously an anti AD trying to get a rise).

I don't want to rake over a point that has been settled, but while every AD view is welcome, it's sometimes difficult when every discussion is dragged back to one hobby horse.

As far as I can see, both parties have decided to move on, so let's leave it be.

I designed flats in the past, and storage is a problem, period, let alone cycle storage. Johnson's new relaxations of planning laws is going to make a bad situation worse

Checking in. Nothing much happening here as WFH and not really getting out as nothing to do.

However, I have booked a restaurant again for a few weeks time. I am salivating just thinking about it but that's probably because I am trying to lose weight so a big fat juicy steak sounds heaven

wanderings · 28/07/2020 18:17

@Orangeblossom78 I kind of wish the government would calm down with all it's ideas
And I wish they would talk about ending restrictions more, and preferably actually doing so. It actually feels like we are more restricted now, not less, because we just don't know what Boris the clown will pull out of his hat next. I REALLY want to break every rule in the book, but I'm having to wrestle with my conscience and risk assessments. I'm not worried about a fine, but I am worried about being shamed on social media.

And (I posted this a few days ago) I feel hopelessly conflicted with my principles about boycotting actual shopping while Boris makes us wear face nappies to do so. Yes, as someone pointed out, my actions are self-imposed dementoring, but I feel that the government are keeping the restrictions in place for so long because we're docile and obedient. They know that we're desperate to have the schools back in September, so many of us being extra well-behaved lest the government changes its mind on this, and I'm sure the government are using this to their advantage.

The sad thing is, it will probably take a few masked armed shop robberies, severely reduced footfall in shops, or some high profile disability discrimination incidents before Boris U-turns on mandatory masks in shops.

countrygirl99 · 28/07/2020 18:29

Woohoo Whitby trip booked. Accommodation sorted and a wild life boat trip where, if we're lucky, we might see minke whales.

justasking111 · 28/07/2020 18:30

Well the obstreperous locals here are fomenting about the tourists not social distancing, they have put benches on the quay. How dare they do they not know it encourages sitting close together. They should pedestrianise the high street at the very least and ban vehicles (never mind the poor sods that live there they can park in council car parks and pay a fee). Disabled so need vehicle, well shop online. Well ummm... how does one get online shopping delivered here now. How will guests get into hotel car park. One shop owner last evening I suspect coz I know her had been on the Wine finally cracked and told them some home truths.

I have to sit on my hands because family have business interests in the area. But it is bloody hard at times.

Drivingdownthe101 · 28/07/2020 18:38

Just added 3 days in the Cotswolds on to the beginning of our trip to Devon next week. So bloody bored of my own house, and town.

TheOrchidKiller · 28/07/2020 18:40

Got talking to soneone through work today. Her DS's wedding has been postponed until next summer. She summed it up, "I wish this would all stop now, it's silly."

I'm going to get some things in for DS's birthday soon. It's not until next week. That will be all 4 of us at home with corona birthdays. At least we might get to eat out this time.

MagdaS · 28/07/2020 19:22

Oh yes, Boris’ new planning laws. Expanding the permitted development regime on the same day as publishing a report which concluded that homes already built in this way, were quite frankly, shit.

And apparently this is a simplification of the planning system. No it’s not. It’s another layer of complexity and basically a 19 page checklist to eventually enable a shit scheme.

DS laughed at the 2 storey extra idea. Foundations?? he said.

Checking in on the new thread. Counting down to Friday and my holiday in the Lake District. Freakishly hot forecast for Friday but the usual rain for the rest of the week. I don't actually care I'm just so excited to spend 7 nights not in my own house.

HeIenaDove · 28/07/2020 19:38

Permitted development means more shitholes where you cant breathe or turn around. Making a big mistake even bigger..

HeIenaDove · 28/07/2020 19:40

THIS Its basically sent me back into a sort of lockdown, apart from the fact i can see my parents

There has already been one high profile incident on a train. Someone must know who she is despite her face being blanked out.

50 incidents so far according to the Disability News Service...........but likely rising.

Have a lovely time. I saw that small window of sunshine on forecast and thinking what to do myself.
