@torydeathdrug absolutely spot on!

Hope you're all doing ok. I miss my old crazy Saturdays of running around like a mad thing. Trying to embrace the slower pace by getting some life admin done. Bleugh, needs doing I guess though!

I've booked a holiday abroad for a few weeks' time. Man I hope it happens. I put the chances at 50:50 but I'll take those odds....

I saw my first double-masker out today ... cloth mask worn over the top of a disposable surgical mask - wtf??? And she was outside in a park so not somewhere where they’re mandatory anyway Hmm

A lot of people obviously have a very skewed idea of risk ... did anyone see the survey where people were asked what percentage of the population they thought had a) had coronavirus and b) died of it. In the UK the average answer for death rate was 7% of the population Shock - how can people’s perception be so out of kilter with reality? I mean with 7% of the population dead, you really would be having bodies on the streets ...

@justasking111

I wonder what our overseas members make of these barking mad thread titles Grin
Well I'm born and bred British and don't have a fecking clue what the title means, or indeed most of the contents of the thread.

@UnaCorda

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Had a lovely normal (ish) day yesterday. I had my grandson for the day, not had one on one time with him since March. I used to pick him up from school twice a week and have him several days in the half terms etc and I've really missed him.
He was so excited to be here, telling his mum and nanny that he was going to have hot chocolate and biscuits, plus grandma's special fruit; he was going to drink all of granddad's special milk and eat all of his yoghurts! He was delighted to see all his toys here that he'd forgotten about, like Christmas!
We went for a long walk by the river, had a picnic in the field, ate ice creams in the afternoon and watched cbeebies till our eyes were bleeding. He told his mum that he was gonna be spoilt, you betcha betcha, he was!

Oh that sounds like a lovely day Smile
justasking111 · 01/08/2020 12:57

@Supermarketworker06 that is what it is all about. I had such fun with mine on the pier this week, they were so excited, sanitiser stations are a novelty for them, nothing special. I bought a rabbit jelly mould to make jellies for them. Great excitement when the wibble wobble comes out.

justasking111 · 01/08/2020 13:00

OH picked up DS 19 late last night he had gone out with a mate for the day, some daft golf game, KFC, walking around town, then booked the beer garden for pizzas. He came home tiddly happy and chatty. His job restarted on Monday so he is on a high. It made our hearts sing to see him doing the usual stuff.

LittleSwede · 01/08/2020 13:07

DD and I spent most of this morning googling pictures of owl babies sleeping on their tummies. Her latest obsession is owls Smile.

Will be flying back to UK from Sweden on Monday. Feels like we've had a bit of a break from it all after this surreal spring and summer. Some people are actually wearing masks in the shops here in Stockholm which I wasn't expecting. Met my friends outdoors lady Friday and they are all armed with antiviral gels and wipes. My friend's baby had Covid at 4 weeks old which was a bit worrying but has now grown into a lovely plump 5 month old.

It’s a lovely sunny day here. The sailors get together and have races on a Saturday so we got to watch that this morning.

Orangeblossom777 · 01/08/2020 13:15

It is less hot here than yesterday which is good. On the risk interpretation, apparently younger people think it is higher risk for them than it is, whereas older people underestimate their risk. Which was interesting.

Orangeblossom777 · 01/08/2020 13:17

My boys went to their grandparents this week to help them with gardening and for lunch which was good. Lots of grass cutting down and think it helped them as they are getting a bit frail really. Bless them, MIL keeps bringing us shopping! They are quite elderly.

TheOrchidKiller · 01/08/2020 13:24

@justasking111 Love a rabbit jelly!

Saw a jelly mould of a brain in a charity shop last week. Was tempted but DD said no one would eat it so didn't get it.

mightbealittlebitmad · 01/08/2020 13:29

With all this talk of pub closures to allow schools to go back I've been pondering over what it is that people are objecting to. Is it the presence of people indoors, the alcohol or both? Does it include restaurants too or are they just focusing on places where people just go for a drink. If it's the presence of people then everywhere indoors needs to close, if it's the alcohol then clearly they don't need to close if they no longer serve alcohol. However, this is punishing those who are capable of going out for a drink without going mad whilst the people who aren't social distancing in a public place are just going to move it somewhere else. So what's the point?

Do hotels also come under the umbrella and what use will hotels be if everywhere serving food and drink will be closed and presumably people won't be allowed to visit friends or family since indoor gatherings won't be allowed.

I don't think the people screaming for closures have actually thought things through properly. They think the people who aren't social distancing in pubs will have been following it to the letter beforehand which is clearly not the case. People have openly admitted to me that they have been seeing their friends the whole time. The illegal raves should clearly tell people that things being closed make no difference, if people want to socialise they will always find a way of doing it.

Ibake · 01/08/2020 13:37

Plus, as ever, so little ability to realise that the economy is one big intertwined organism.

Smunts, who wouldn't know a good time if it hit them in the face saying 'close the bars, restaurants and nail bars, they're hardly necessary are they?' Tinkly laugh.

Utterly incapable of realising that those businesses and employees all pay tax...

We have a brain jelly mould, my Grin6 and 5 year olds love it

rookiemere · 01/08/2020 13:40

@mightbealittlebitmad the restaurants and pubs I have been to shouldn't give anyone any cause for concern. Details taken, tables spaced out, weird measures like disposable sachets of salt and pepper ( guess the environment comes second at the altar of covid). If there was a positive testing member of staff, then it would be easy enough to identify who had been there.

Positive tests in Scotland remain very low even after inside of pubs have been open for 15 days.

I suspect there are pubs not following the guidelines and they are the ones that should be focused on if reducing the infection rate is the goal.
I'm sure police and local population are well aware of which ones these are, but don't particularly want to get involved which is fine, but may well lead to all pubs and restaurants being closed which is not so fine.

I spoil my grandsons and kids rotten
An afternoon paddlE boarding and Nice but inexpensive three course meal for 7 meant nana was £175 lighter but the joy it gave me lastest right up until Doris’s latest round of wankfuckery

Sallycinnamum · 01/08/2020 13:46

I see the dementor school wankers/second wavers are back in full force today!

Dowser · 01/08/2020 13:49

@mightbealittlebitmad
Exactly
I much prefer a relaxed pub atmosphere
Friend in Bournemouth said about 100 of the high st shops are shut

Dowser · 01/08/2020 13:53

@Orangeblossom777
I have my grandsons round to help with the small patch, I laughingly call my garden
It’s my way of giving them a bit of pocket money
They’d do it for free, but I like them to earn their own money
The eldest is in macdonalds now so the next in line comes and gives a hand, sweeping , I hate sweeping leaves and weeding
