He stood me up, now he's texted. Gather round ladies

For those who followed my thread from yesterday about being stood up. Well guess what? He's just texted. Note its not on WhatsApp. Heres what he said "sorry I couldn't make lunch the other day (yesterday!) Something came up I couldn't get out of. If I could've made it I would have"

Classic. Any witty replies?

OP posts:
HappyHammy · 27/07/2020 12:52

Something came up he couldn't get out of, yuk, was it his willyHmm

Thisismytimetoshine · 27/07/2020 12:55

@EmbarrassedUser

I like ‘who is this?’ Or just ignore.
"Who is this?" makes it sound like op has had an entire football team's worth standing her up at restaurants recently. Some dignity, please!
Fuckityfucksake · 27/07/2020 13:00

I'd have been tempted to reply
"no probs at all, I called option 2 (or was it 3?) and we had a fab time ;)"

cherryblossommorningstoday · 27/07/2020 13:45

If not be able to resist replying.

I would say 'what happened'

Then I'd arrange another date and stand him up.

dooratheexplorer · 27/07/2020 13:54

Please keep ignoring, Op. You've done so well!

Really laughing at his pathetic messages now. He definitely has a wife or girlfriend in tow. Don't waste any more time on him.

Upstartcrones · 27/07/2020 15:07

Maybe you could message 'don't worry your wife explained everything' Shock

Then block. That would put the cat amongst the pigeons Grin

WizardOfAus · 27/07/2020 15:19

Please stop with the embarrassingly cringeworthy suggestions. OP made her decision 10 pages ago. She didn’t respond and it’s eating the guy up.

Upstartcrones · 27/07/2020 15:23

WizardOfAus

I'm pretty sure that posters are just having a giggle. But hey thanks for telling us naughty children off Hmm

Relax. Everyone knows what “who is this?” means. No-one, including the man it would be sent to, would think it meant she had a football team standing her up. He would know it for exactly what it was- a two fingered fuck off.

She didn’t respond and it’s eating the guy up.

These assertions that it’s eating him up or driving him mad etc are also embarrassingly cringeworthy. It’s very unlikely he is crying into his weetabix. Far more likely he is concentrating on remembering whether it was jane or Mary he arranged to meet this evening.

YinuCeatleAyru · 27/07/2020 15:32

I think the only viable explanation for his behaviour is that he had scheduled two different dates with two women at the same time by accident. When you called he thought you were the other one and he truly was a few minutes away from that meetup. When he realised his mistake he blocked you.

Getting to the 3rd date with someone is only a good thing if they are a decent person. This one isn't, so you have dodged a bullet. I know it is tough being single but it is better to be single than in a relationship with a loser, and this one definitely was not a keeper.

Everyone is quite correct to say don't reply, but if he keeps pestering you then blocking him is appropriate.

WizardOfAus · 27/07/2020 15:33

@Upstartcrones

My pleasure. If it prevents the 152nd person to lamely suggest, “tell him you’ve spoken to his wife. Har har har” ... then, RESULT!

borntohula · 27/07/2020 15:40

Well done for ignoring, I hope his continuing to message and admitting to being a liar has given you some satisfaction! Grin

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 27/07/2020 15:45

🤣🤣🤣

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 27/07/2020 15:47

He has messaged her 4 times. Clearly the op not responding is driving him mad.

BacklashStarts · 27/07/2020 15:48

Oh that is satisfying!

3 messages. Ha ha dickhead!

‘I had to lie’ no you didn’t.

Annonymiss123 · 27/07/2020 15:51

@AtLeastThreeDrinks

I'd ignore, but I'd also reverse-image search him to see if anything came up. My friend did this with one of her dates who seemed a bit sketchy and his (recent) wedding photos came up on his public FB profile!
OMG! 🤯

Seems the most likely explanation. But clearly that date didn't work out, hence he texted some lame apology, wanting to see if you'd pick it up again. But people don't like being ignored, leading to the additional texts.

I think you've dodged a bullet, and keep on ignoring.

Smallsteps88 · 27/07/2020 15:56

Clearly the op not responding is driving him mad.

Yes that’s clearly the only explanation. It’s most certainly not that he knows exactly how to play the game.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 27/07/2020 16:00

And she isn't responding to it, so he is messaging her again and again, hardly the actions of someone who doesn't give a shit Confused

Bananabread8 · 27/07/2020 16:05

Something was clearly more important and the guy obviously doesn’t care. Guys tend to come back... it doesn’t mean they are genuine at all. It’s quite odd.

Smallsteps88 · 27/07/2020 16:11

Sadly this is a very naive interpretation of it.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 27/07/2020 16:14

Sadly this is a very naive interpretation of it.

Not really, since he is repeatedly messaging her Hmm

Smallsteps88 · 27/07/2020 16:27

Ok. I’ll just leave it there.

MulticolourMophead · 27/07/2020 16:31

@Smallsteps88

He might be thinking he's playing a game, but OP isn't playing, she's simply ignoring.

But people do not like being ignored. And some people are immature enough to keep texting to provoke a response, anything to get attention.

Smallsteps88 · 27/07/2020 16:41

Yes, he is playing the game. Whether OP responds in the way he wants or not. His further texts are part of the game plan. He will give up eventually, when it’s clear she isn’t interested. She might receive a “hey, how are you!” Text some weekend evening in the future when he has nothing promising in his diary.
