[quote LuckyMarmiteLover]Well I’m with Banksy:

And that’s fab, that’s your personal choice Smile

RubberDinghyRapids · 15/07/2020 23:24

I saw that Banksy video on Instagram. Loved it, the naughty little scoundrel Grin.

I've just applied for a new job. Going to need flexible (well, actually quite inflexible really) shifts, but it would let me go back to full time and we wouldn't be so tight money-wise. Here's hoping for some light in the gloom.

IAintentDead · 15/07/2020 23:25

@LuckyMarmiteLover

Sorry I don’t think I was being disingenuous - as I said I haven’t read the whole thread (or to be fair the more recent ones). I’m not a dementor (hopefully) and I have had the most amazing day today out and about in the countryside today with my new found relatives 💕
It's kind of why we engaged. I think we could see you were not a (at that point total) dementor.

All views are welcome on here so long as they allow others their views. We are not (no matter what the dementors think) an homogenous group. What we are is a group that respects that others have their own views. Views are accepted, showing evidence against views is accepted. What isn't accepted is name calling just because someone has a different view (although we aren't perfect and calling out judgmental people happens).

We are generally against those who think only their own view counts or people who think anyone who thinks differently from them is wrong. We are not just 'anti' for the sake of it. We have read widely around others who think differently, there are also many amongst us that do have experience and or qualifications in the science and maths based areas that can make the sense I can't of the actual figures.

Ask questions, express fears and you will get answers and reassurance BUT please don't post again thinking you know who we all are or why we are on this thread.

(PS excuse rambling, I've had a wine or two)

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/07/2020 23:29

LuckyMarmiteLover just out of interest, you said you hadn’t posted on the AD threads before. So did you just want to post to tell us why we were wrong about masks?

LuckyMarmiteLover · 15/07/2020 23:29

Well I’m from Bristol and he’s a bit of a legend here. I’m sorry the cleaners got rid of it, as I expect the council will get rid of our Amazing new statue of Jen Reid.
I thought this thread was a bit of light relief from the dementors but obviously not.

BogRollBOGOF · 15/07/2020 23:30

@LuckyMarmiteLover

Thank you I will watch the video in the morning. I have actually had a very exciting day today meeting my birth auntie - I’m adopted (sorry totally off topic!) but amazing.
Was it strange?

I met my paternal family in adulthood and it's been like having another set of inlaws, family, but having to learn to navigate them.

Dowser · 15/07/2020 23:31

@RubberDinghyRapids
Oh good luck with that

On a different tack

Is anyone from near Glastonbury
I’m thinking of booking end of August
It’s a 7 hour drive for me and I don’t want to come all that way if it’s going to be like a wet Sunday in the 50s

Please tell me it hasn’t changed and it’s still as mad as ever

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/07/2020 23:31

Yes, we’re all just mask dementors. Or something.

yeOldeTrout · 15/07/2020 23:32

gosh, I thought the Banksy grafitti was pure vandalism! So much of it was ugly. Glad it all got removed. He can put up his art somewhere appropriate instead.

We have our ups and downs on the Coronacoaster.

Next thing you know, we'll be onto something like Aubergines.

It was light hearted until you plopped in and told us what we are not.
RubberDinghyRapids · 15/07/2020 23:35

I quite like a bit of artistic graffiti Blush. They commissioned work to be painted on the struts (sp?) under the dual carriageway in a nearby town and I really like seeing them change. Can't stand tagging though. Fucking pointless and dull.

LuckyMarmiteLover · 15/07/2020 23:36

Thank you - I have had a few wines too after an amazing day. Sorry if I have come across as not accepting others views as that’s not how I am. Off to bed now I think!

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/07/2020 23:36

Oh I love Banksy too. Doesn’t mean I agree with his view on masks though.
Just like hating Trump doesn’t have any bearing on my feelings on masks.
My opinions are my own.

LuckyMarmiteLover · 15/07/2020 23:37

My paternal family has been amazing!

Willow2017 · 15/07/2020 23:42

I realise it’s difficult but wearing masks protects others more than you.
Only if it is a properly fitted purpose built mask. A disposable mask is useless within a short space of time. Cloth masks don't filter anything at all and again need changing frequently and kept separately until washed otherwise you are just taking a dirty mask hime with you.
And as 90% of the people wearing masks are not wearing them properly, fiddle with them, take them down and put them back up regularly its absolutely pointless. They also seem to think it makes them invincible and can just push you out the way as they are so virtuous and heroic for wearing them. It's like a shield of light against all those common people and you don't need to consider them at all.

People have been screaming about spikes and 2nd waves since VE Day, demos, beaches, pubs and now shops and none of the things mentioned have caused spikes or second waves without masks.
Cases are falling fast without everyone wearing masks so why is it ok not to wear a mask this week but Mr Covid is waiting for us next week?
Masks are not contributing to less restrictions. What's the point of them then?

What has Trump got to do with how you make a decision? If he likes it you automatically don't and vica versa? Seriously?

This thread isn't anti-mask but e can questions their usefulness. Nobody cares if someone choses to wear one just do it properly not just for 'likes' on FB or to show the world how fab you are. Respect others choice not to wear one for whatever reason (which is nobody elses business). And use your brain and question their actual potential to do the job not to mention the harm it can do to the wearer.

Nope

there is some light relief but the raison d'etre is to not get dragged down the route of

1 following roolz because they are roolz rather than because they make sense

2 Fear - the fear that if we don't follow the roolz we will all die

3 That we know the virus doesn't follow any roolz set by men so that if we follow the arbitrary ROOLZ the virus know we are exempt

Plus The virus doesn't mean we can't make jokes or have fun

PickAChew · 15/07/2020 23:50

Yeah, hair loss isn't necessarily anxiety. I'm pretty chewed, lately and my hair is merely getting bigger and bigger. I'm crystal tips, on a good day.

LuckyMarmiteLover · 15/07/2020 23:58

Sorry should have gone to bed so apologies for my continued (slightly drunken) ramblings - my feeling about Trump and Johnson is that they are right wing populists and they have both delayed asking the public to wear masks as it suited their agenda.

PickAChew · 16/07/2020 00:00

To add to @iaitentdead's list, we also don't believe in curtain twitching, being fully aware that people aren't going to throw away their precious time with elderly relatives who prioritise living over merely being alive.

Plus, one of the cities that has been constantly mentioned as a hotbed is Sunderland. No deaths there for 24 days and none in the northeast for a week.

Willow2017 · 16/07/2020 00:00

@LuckyMarmiteLover

PinkFondantFancy . Amazing thank you - although I’m obviously on the wrong thread for this really Smile
We talk about anything and everything on here its not restricted to covid😄
PickAChew · 16/07/2020 00:03

And the main difference between trump and Johnson is about 70 IQ points!

Allflightscancelled · 16/07/2020 00:09

@MaxNormal thank you lovely, you too.

@Domina hang in there, love. I know it's fuckinn hard but we're rooting for you. This too shall pass. Thanks

torydeathdrug · 16/07/2020 00:09

I just dragged myself out of an internet hole - respirators, military grade carbon filters, hoods, googles, neoprene .... woah .... I'm going to buy a mini drinks fridge instead :D

Making a decision about anything because of Trump is just odd ... the man is a moron why would his opinion have any impact either way? Confused I'm too old for that kind of tribal shite.

Willow2017 · 16/07/2020 00:15

thought this thread was a bit of light relief from the dementors but obviously not

We arent dementing about anything. We discuss things, talk about our feelings. Support each other and even have a laugh.

They are not mutually exclusive.

Critically assessing something is not a bad thing. Too many people are blindly following whatever roolz they believe are current whether they are right or not. And have set themselves up as the new stazi, policing everyone else and getting off on power trips.
Questioning this is vital not subversive.
