Can only begin to imagine how much the D's are spaffing themselves over this. I am now only going to look at 3 things on social media: here, Prof Sakora and Charlie the Golden. Anything else will have me slitting my wrists.

AnxiousElephant77 · 13/07/2020 23:10

Haha, I’ve just checked Twitter desperately to see if Sikora has tweeted anything that might make me feel better Grin

BogRollBOGOF · 13/07/2020 23:11

Masks at start of social restriction: logical
Masks at start of non-essential shops reopening:logical
Masks in autumn as cold/ flu season starts: logical
Nasty but logical.

Masks in July: illogical and politicking around to be "popularist"
Social distancing is working and there has been consistent declines in positive testing and deaths since all the phased reopenings.

Wonders how to log back in with Morrisons after years... the problem being I have to buy bread in Aldi for the lack of soya.

Bye Rishi, that's the absolute minimal in person shopping you'll be getting out of me.

Mrsfrumble · 13/07/2020 23:14

Ugh. I stupidly got involved in a mask thread. And now I’m genuinely horrified that so many people seem to think that right of people with disabilities which mean they can’t wear a mask, to go shopping or ride on public transport should be revoked for the “safety” of everyone else. It’s seems a total no-brainer to me that a very slight increase to a minimal risk, that may be caused by a fraction of the population not wearing masks, is a reasonable sacrifice for their ability to participate in everyday life. Apparently not.

Also I’m grumpy because I’ve broken my arse (or at least badly bruised my coccyx) by slipping on a bloody Lego instruction book bloody DS left on the bloody kitchen floor. I went down like a sack of spuds and now I’m limping around like an old crone. It really hurts!

justasking111 · 13/07/2020 23:15

Just checked my stats courtesy of BBC. 5 cases in the last week, last death 26 June. I would say here we are pretty safe now. The invasion of the grockels is scaring the knicker elastic out of a few dementors though.

BogRollBOGOF · 13/07/2020 23:15

@bakingcupcakes

The waste aspect of covid upsets me a lot. And no one seems remotely bothered about the increase of single use.

I won't be buying masks. I'll use a 'covering' of some sort that can live in the car. Thinking on it I'll probably be more at risk of sickness from reusing it without washing it every time. Wonder how many others will be the same.

I've got a good collection of buffs.

In bitterly cold winter weather, I wear them like a scarf and pull them up over my cheeks and face to warm them for a couple of minutes at a time, but that's all I can cope with them in sub-zero when it's very dry. Not in mild, humid summer weather!

KaronAVyrus · 13/07/2020 23:15

Strurgeon must be kicking herself that her fines are only £60.

justasking111 · 13/07/2020 23:17

Ouch that coccyx injury is eye wateringly painful Flowers lego always gets you one way or another.

Ibake · 13/07/2020 23:17

What a spineless cunt BoJo is (I know, I know, hardly a newsflash). This is quite possibly the most ridiculous time to introduce them as you said @BogRollBOGOF but because the masses are bleating, away he goes. Tosser.

How to ensure the speedier demise of the High Street demise and boost Jeff Bezos multi billions

justasking111 · 13/07/2020 23:22

Just had a thought, no more ducking and dodging aisles at the supermarket because someone spots me that I wanted to avoid. We just wont recognise each other any more. Now that is worthy of Pollyanna. Grin

ILoveTotoro · 13/07/2020 23:22

Oh my actual god I am fuckjng livid about this face mask bullshit

🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

I don't know where to start with it

PickAChew · 13/07/2020 23:23

I need another trip to Newcastle before the 24th. It'll be the last for a while as I can only just cope with the hour each way on the bus.

The news really upset DS1. Actual tears, even though he's left the house all of 3 times since mid March.

Willow2017 · 13/07/2020 23:24

The amount of rubbish generated by this must be colossal. All the takeaway stuff, gloves, single use i don't even want to think about it.

£100 fine! Where will people who have been made redundant get £100 from? Who is going to police it? Oq many people qill not believe those who are exempt from wearing them and fine them anyway? How much time and paperwork will that entail fighting the fine and them backing down? Fecking idiots.

On the plus side after having a quick howl I stumbled upon a new Sarah Milligan concert and laughed my face off. Her 'women have body hair, periods and sex drives' and "fuck off any man/newspaper telling me i will get better if i lose weight" stuff. (And other stuff pure filth ) Felt good.

lljkk · 13/07/2020 23:27

I have been habitually carrying a neckbuff for months, I hope buff will work well enough. I know I said I'm bored to tears... but actually, the political gossip aspects and the mechanics are intriguing me.

Plus ... how will it help us, I wonder. Will it get our kids back to regular school (I reckon very definitely not). Will it let gyms and pools stay open... maybe.

I miss my pool so maybe face cover is a small price to pay and it's better than no pool.

torydeathdrug · 13/07/2020 23:28

Really sorry for your ds @PickAChew :(

“The new rules will not come into effect for more than a week: but if public compliance follows the pattern of many other aspects of lockdown, the public are likely to start following them all but immediately.“

Vomit worthy from the guardian ... oh yes aren’t we so wonderful & compliant.

justasking111 · 13/07/2020 23:28

If you have health issues get a paper mask and a permanent marker on the mask write in big letters "ASTHMA" then put it on like a hairband across your forehead.

okiedokieme · 13/07/2020 23:33

The conspiracy theorists should look to the owners of Etsy! Joking aside, I rely on partially lip reading, especially if it's noisy. No chance now. I've booked online supermarket delivery for the first time since lockdown

The little Bogrolls and I could have a collection: Autism Asthma Random Panic Attacks Grin

Not that I could get one on DS1's head.

thenightsky · 14/07/2020 00:01

I sewed some nice fabric masks the other week when I was bored. Glad I did now.

Allflightscancelled · 14/07/2020 00:01

I'm not wearing a mask unless forced to. That's any shopping trips I was planning shelved indefinitely. Probably a good thing for my finances though so, in some respects, all good. It's still a fucking fun sponge though so I'm still mightily peed off. The utter twats.

In other news, on another thread not necessarily on Mumsnet so don't delete me, I saw someone today actually say "the risk of getting COVID is so high". No idea what planet he/she was on, but maybe they need to get better drugs Hmm

HeIenaDove · 14/07/2020 00:07

Fucking pissheads get let off though No masks in pubs The blokes fighting outside our Wetherspoons last Friday will be pleased.

The fine for being drunk and disorderly better be a fucking sight more than £100

PickAChew · 14/07/2020 00:09

I need to lipread too. Combination of auditory processing and hearing damaged by Ds2 who is autistic in the unfashionable sense.
PickAChew · 14/07/2020 00:11

And all the masks I sew from now on will be single layer. Stuff it.

I have some Seasalt handy bands but anything above about 8C is too hot to contemplate anything that covers my neck.

wanderings · 14/07/2020 06:15

Goodbye High Street, it was nice knowing you. I will not darken any shop doorsteps now. Online shopping, here I come; and I had previously dismissed it as being too complicated and uncertain.

oh yes aren’t we so wonderful & compliant. This is exactly our problem. We've been TOO fucking compliant. When lockdown was imposed and all our rights taken away in one swoop - not a shred of resistance. We should have been rioting in the street. Now off to draft letter to MP about the unintended consequences of face masks.
