Haircut on Monday. The bloke’s just got back from having his done and I’m very envious. We’re definitely off to our local posh restaurant as soon as it’s open and we’ll get £20 off.

BarkandCheese · 10/07/2020 10:57

I'm not a a prepper, but I am a horror movie fan and have quite a high level of morbid curiosity Grinclearly I was destined for AD status. I actually much prefer horror movies when I'm feeding low than traditional comfort food type stuff. They remind me that no matter how bad things might be at least I'm not running from a pysco killer.

IAintentDead · 10/07/2020 10:58

Yay - I can start properly looking for Turkish holidays now. They have had a curfew in place that people 65 and over could only go out/leave their hotel between 10am and 8pm, which was doable as the hotels all have restaurants and bars but not a holiday I wanted.

It has now been lifted for tourists.

I was pretty sure it would be gone by September but good to have confirmation. Hopefully by the end of September, which is when I usually go, things will be pretty much back to normal.

MrsSpenserGregson · 10/07/2020 11:10

Hi @RubberDinghyRapids Yes it was the Russell-Cotes - I do love it there, and I've wanted to see the Beyond the Brotherhood exhibition for months. For £6-7 it's really fab!

I'm going to become a Friend this year, instead of having a V&A membership - a) it's much cheaper and much more local, and b) the V&A aren't extended memberships post-lockdown, which I think is really off. All our other subscriptions - cinema, gym, Tesco delivery etc - were paused while we couldn't use them. The V&A is refusing to answer questions about this, which is such a shame as it is such an utter treasure-trove of gorgeousness and knowledge Sad

Bournemouth beach massacre shenanigans were two weeks ago .... and as someone upthread said, we only had 4 confirmed cases in Bmouth last week (which were probably nothing to do with the beach at all) so I think we've survived, yay!!!!

I think were starting to use Disney + and amazon prime - which we had for a while for free delivery as work out cheaper - like that.

Something other than food or a outing out to pick us up.

MrsSpenserGregson · 10/07/2020 11:11

Oh, I've got a haircut booked too Smile

Shodan · 10/07/2020 11:12

Morning all.

Taking ds2 for his haircut today. I don't know if he needs a mask, so have asked ds1 if we can borrow his one- it's one of those disposable things that should've been disposed of but wasn't...

Other than that, no real excitement for me today. This weekend is looking better- class, fry up, the scary movie sleepover with my best friend.

Small stuff, but I like it Grin

Dowser · 10/07/2020 11:16

Looks like mr Dowser will get some olives and I’ll look at the fruit, plants and avoid the chocolate.

So that means a drive to york ring road..after that I don’t know.

TheOnlyMrsW · 10/07/2020 11:20

Morning all, have only posted a couple of times but read every thread and you make me laugh every day (and DH as I read the funny bits out to him as well Grin). Delurking in spirit with @SeagoingSexpot as I'm a fellow pixie with a haircut booked for Tuesday, I had an appt booked the day we went into lockdown so it's a state! I've taken to just chucking a scarf round it 😢.
We're on our way to Hay on Wye for the weekend and plan spending money in every open bookshop we can find!!!!!

TheYellowOfTheEgg · 10/07/2020 11:37

Is it still possible to join the Facebook group? Could someone please send me the link?

I don't post on here much, but it has been the best part of Mumsnet lately.

I’m really annoyed at the V&A too. I got membership for a Christmas present and only managed to go twice before lockdown. I was look forward to goitre regularly for a potter around and DD really wanted to see the Alice in Wonderland exhibition. I’m hoping they might change their mind and extend membership once they actually do reopening.
Spudlet · 10/07/2020 12:00

Just sitting in the car park waiting to collect DS from preschool. Have had a most annoying morning trying to buy sewing thread from the local sewing shop. Went there straight after dropping DS off to discover it was opening an hour later (special COVID hours - why?!), went home, went back half an hour before pick up and ended up queuing outside while the two customers allowed in at one time dithered. So there I stood on the pavement, boiling in a mask because they want everyone to wear one, hopping from foot to foot until eventually they let me in... then they had sold out of bloody bobbins! So I bought them on eBay. What a fekking palaver for two reels of cotton and some bobbins 🙈

BubbleIsNotAFuckingVerb · 10/07/2020 12:00

I'm not actually on the FB group myself so probably don't get a say BlushGrin but I am considering it. If was I think though I would be very reluctant to share details with people who are brand new to the thread/s (she said unwelcomingly Blush) I don't want to offend any genuine AD like minded folk and like them joining the thread but sadly there are some right fucking wierdos on MN at the moment Grin and I don't want them to have any of my RL details.

I'm not calling any new people wierdos you understand, you're all probably fine Smilebut I have seen posters that want to film non mask wearers and post them on social media/track them down in RL Hmm and I could well imagine them thinking the Facebook group was a golden ticket..

Please excuse me if this is terribly rude, or not even my place to say. I am in a fucking foul mood this afternoon Blush

BubbleIsNotAFuckingVerb · 10/07/2020 12:03

The irony is I'm a fucking mask wearer myself Grin so the masked un maskers (see what I did there) with their undercover filming pose no thread to me, I just think they're weird.

NannyPhlegm · 10/07/2020 12:05

In my local FB group, some Dementor took a photo of two pre-teen girls (probably 12/13) meeting up in a park and posted it with a very shaming commentary. I was genuinely horrified.
Hearteningly, the community jumped on it, denounced the vigilante attitude, and the photo was taken down so quickly it left skid marks.

One person questioned if the Dementor would have tried this trick on two men, is it that young girls are seen as less likely to kick off, so therefore fair game. I think there is a fair amount of truth in that.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 10/07/2020 12:10

I've been a bit taken a back by the filming of non mask wears and shaming on social media - asthmatics are excempt as are many others so wonder how they'll find that out.

Then I wandered into a thread wanting to make the vaccine - which we don't have yet - compulsory.

Some people are being very odd or thick.

okiedokieme · 10/07/2020 12:12

I'm doing my bit, 3 trips to the pub, dinner booked tomorrow evening and been to the card shop and clothes store in town. Not planning on the mall or local city yet, not because of the virus, just don't have anything to buy! Oh and we are accepting his lovely gift of zero stamp duty, thanks Rishi!

BubbleIsNotAFuckingVerb · 10/07/2020 12:14

I totally agree nanny and I think masked unmaskers are more likely to target women on their vigilante crusades.

(The thought process of someone thinking it was a good idea to photograph young girls in a public place is also a bit worrying, especially if it was a man! The irony - if they had been noticed and someone went a bit vigilante on them themselves Grin)

PS No offence meant by the way with calling people weirdos Blush I myself have a touch of the weird (of course if I was rich I would be eccentric Wink) and very much like horror films. I may or may not be lying in bed on my phone wearing very high heeled Zombie shoes Grin as I can't wear them to walk in these days sadly

NannyPhlegm sadly not surpised some of DD1 friends, all teen girls, stopped going out even to walk dogs in early days of lockdown as people felt it was alright to scream absuse at them.

I’m a bit gutted about the stamp duty thing, we missed out last time there was a stamp duty reduction (by a week 😭) which would have saved us £6k. We’re looking to move next year with a stamp duty bill of about £15k, but I just don’t think we’ll be able to do the move before the end of March Sad.
okiedokieme · 10/07/2020 12:16

Oh and on Facebook there's a call for a mass trespass to the park, play equipment still locked up because council say they cannot comply with ridiculous government advice (I don't have kids, well I do, they are drinking in the pub currently doing their bit!)

RubberDinghyRapids · 10/07/2020 12:29

I don't understand the 'not able to apply the guidance' thing.... I've read it and it's all written quite vaguely and open to interpretation. Suggestions of cleaning/signs etc but I couldn't see much which was mandatory.

Dicotyledon · 10/07/2020 12:29

Checking in. Mask wear as and when needed on buses and trams. Was really excited the other day. Missed my stop on the tram so got to take mask off for a few minutes while waiting for return tram. The excitement!
I have terrible itchy feet so have been shopping in lots of local places. Even found a coffee place in Merry Hill where they decided some customers sitting down was not going to kill anyone.

Willow2017 · 10/07/2020 12:31

Wonder what the ridiculous advice is? Ours are open eith one notice about washing your hands and adults SD and that's it! And that's in Scotland I was really surprised that was the sum total of 'instructions' needed!

I agree that it seems to be akways women/girls who are fair game for screamers. Easy targets and they think nobody will defend them. Bloody cowards they wouldn't do it to 17stone muscle bound rugby players.

Work loooooonnnnnggg and freezing. Roll on 3pm😄
