Morning morning... 4 hours of Teams meetings today, I'm going to be wiped out when they are done. At least two hours of that would be a brief series of conversations if we were in the office.

MrsSpenserGregson · 10/07/2020 07:19

Oooh hello, please may I join?

I went down to my local museum this week. I had to book first, so spontaneous it wasn't, but the overnight anticipation / excitement about doing something normal and enjoyable was almost as good as the actual visit Smile

Paying £3.40 to Bournemouth Christchurch & Poole Council in car parking charges wasn't much fun, but hey, I did it for Rishi ... and obvs it will help towards cleaning up the inevitably shit-covered beach when the warm weather returns this weekend Grin (N.B. I don't blame / resent anyone for coming to the beach on a hot day, but please don't park across my drive and please take your rubbish home with you if the bins are full!).

I also bought a beautiful top in a gorgeous local independent boutique. And lots of chocolate in Tesco

HereComesYourMam · 10/07/2020 07:27

I hardly ever post on MN, but I've read every single one of these threads and they've kept me sane, so thank you.

Anyway, just breaking cover to say that I had my hair done yesterday and didn't have to wear a mask - as long as the hairdressers have visors on, it's up to the salons to decide their own policy on whether the punters have to wear masks, so it's worth checking.

TheOrchidKiller · 10/07/2020 07:32

Good luck to you all in Scotland today.

Go down for Rishi and buckle up for Nicola!

PinkFondantFancy · 10/07/2020 07:42

Bonjour all. I am back and slightly more sane! No Facebook and no poking my head into schools threads has made all the difference. I missed you! Hope you're doing ok, will read where you're up to.

bookworm14 · 10/07/2020 07:44

Checking in. No eating out yet (sorry Rishi) but I did go to a bookshop yesterday. No enforced masks, and I was even allowed to put my germ-ridden hands on the books! It was brilliant.

SeagoingSexpot · 10/07/2020 07:47

I AM GETTING MY HAIR DONE TODAY.

I normally have a pixie and it hasn't been cut since February. Pixies, as you may know, do not take well to "growing out". My hair has been driving me absolutely batshit. I can't wait.

Drivingdownthe101 · 10/07/2020 07:47

We have a week away booked in August (taking my filthy Midlands germs to the SW), and a night away with DH (without children, for the first time in what will be 2 years!) at the end of August, including a Michelin starred restaurant for dinner, so will definitely be doing our bit then! Not for our town though, sadly.

PinkFondantFancy · 10/07/2020 07:48

Oh and you'd be proud of the AD work I've been doing while I've been gone - I've been to shops, restaurants, cafes, beaches, the whole lot!

PinkFondantFancy · 10/07/2020 07:49

@SeagoingSexpot congrats! That's going to feel absolutely amazing when it's done!

letsgomaths · 10/07/2020 08:01

We're planning to go to Bekonscot model village. We also really want to go the Roald Dahl museum not far from there, but nothing has been said about it reopening - does anybody know?

littlbrowndog · 10/07/2020 08:06

I have plague ridden visitors from England here.

They scampered over the border. Evaded border guards. Think they dug tunnels

We have been hugging without muzzles

💪

110APiccadilly · 10/07/2020 08:14

Hello all. Just making sure I'm on the thread and sharing the glad news that Welsh playgrounds can open again soon! (Not that our village one has been exactly closed in reality... )

PickAChew · 10/07/2020 08:20

@BogRollBOGOF

I think I've walked and run every bloody public footpath within 4 miles. To be fair, most were on my radar anyway Wink

I love runninv and walking. I have lovely countryside from 500m away. It says something when I'm done in with it!

Yep. I don't even have the goal of turni g pokemon gyms on this routes gold because I have to go out of my way to find one that isn't, now.
LovingLen · 10/07/2020 08:27

Joining in. Hairdressers tomorrow, yay, dentist Tuesday for checkup, going on holiday in caravan on Thursday to Cotswolds, then down to Cornwall for a week then back to Cotswolds, also booked National trust outing for Friday. Hoping to visit some cafes/restaurants while we are away, shame the meal vouchers aren't until August though.

BogRollBOGOF · 10/07/2020 08:37

@skeptile

What are the fines for breaching lockdown restrictions where you all are? Ours are on the spot $1600. During the last lockdown, we were also subjected to the heaviest handed policing. With the highest number of people tested. And now we're the only ones back in lockdown...
The greatest danger is the curtain twitchers and being "shamed" on community social media. The police are positively pleasant in comparison. I can't remember what the fines are, not particularly high for a first offence and you'd have to have done something pretty outrageous like hosting a big party.

Years of public service cuts make it difficult for the police to spread themselves out and about. They'll know the areas at highest risk for "flouting".

The Dementors have screeched all along that we didn t have a "proper" lockdown because we were allowed out to exercise, so they had to make up rules about how long and where you could go to make themselves feel better and to make it easier to bitch about their neighbours.
These threads developed as a backlash to those attitudes and the general scaremongering in the media. By April there was a good cluster of us who felt like lone voices and found each other on an AIBU thread about people not wanting others to have fun.

Welcome HereComesYourMam!

My husband’s parents arrived yesterday (it was his birthday). We had champagne and some salmon he smoked on his new barbecue. It’s the last day of remote schooling and then we’re off for lunch at an awesome beachside restaurant. Maybe we’ll have some rosé?

skeptile · 10/07/2020 08:48

Thanks BogRollBOGOF. I've browsed the AD threads from afar, and posted a little recently.

I've just read we've had a 'horror day' here in Melbourne with 288 positive swabs. We're at 22 deaths since March, 47 currently in hospital (including 12 in intensive care), we've had 1 MILLION tests carried out, with 3379 positives in total. On the gov's own website, it's very open about the lack of clarity surrounding the significance of a positive swab where that individual is asymptomatic.

It's crackers here.

Nihiloxica · 10/07/2020 08:48

Hang on, I don't recognise anyone on this thread...

It must be all the new fancy murderous HAIR DO's. Grin

Oh that all sounds so gorgeous and almost normal. I didn't know you could smoke things on a barbecue - now I think maybe we need a new one. All foods are improved by smoking.

Welcome HereComesYourMam (love the name BTW) and welcome back Pink, we missed you.

skeptile · 10/07/2020 08:50

That's 1 million tests, in a population of 6.5 million, for context.

Love the idea of the filthy plague ridden English digging tunnels into Scotland to evade border control. Could make a film out of it Grin
Nihiloxica · 10/07/2020 09:10

Oh and welcome MrsSpenser and Len, nice to meet you. Smile

NannyPhlegm · 10/07/2020 09:14

Wow, I go out of the house to work and I seem to have missed an entire thread!

In the national interest, I've booked haircuts for the entire family and we've got through an appointment for DD1 for braces fitting. I don't think I'll go to local restaurants yet as Wales only allows outdoor seating from Monday, and the weather here is always pants. Not even Rishi can persuade me to get wet while eating out (see what I did there? See? See? Grin)

Ibake · 10/07/2020 09:15

Morning all, especially the newbies and delurkers! Off out with the dog and then, if you see me on here before 5pm, tell me off. I have GOT to do some work today and not let myself be distracted by all your wit and repartee, even though you all are 1000 times more interesting than year end accounts. Have a good day all!

I love how we are all single handedly restarting the UK’s economy.
