Bullying is guaranteed to make any child feel rubbish and isn't something they should have to "cope" with!

Spudlet · 12/07/2020 19:15

@CruCru I have seen comments on a US website saying that since Black people are more at risk of dying from COVID, wearing a mask is a BLM-related issue.

I think it’s fair to say that mask wearing has been about as politicised as it could be over there!

Supermarketworker06 · 12/07/2020 19:37

Regarding the trains, I was planning to go and see my daughter in Newbury. I can buy a ticket this week but when I want to go next week, Trainline is coming up with the same time trains but with a note beside it saying " not available to buy"! They are changing the timetables from the 25th I think it was, but why can't I buy a ticket? Unless I want to go really early or really late (commuter time, when they don't want you to go?) what are they doing?

Ah, fair enough. It seemed a bit of a non sequitur at the time.

Teateaandmoretea · 12/07/2020 20:08

Mind you the dementors seem suddenly normal. I’ve just seen someone state on a thread they’d rather die than buy a size 12. That is what we are up against, mumsnet is one seriously weird place.

These days my day to day friends are via cycling club, so there is an absence of real weight angst. Maybe I’m out of touch 🤷🏻‍♀️

MaxNormal · 12/07/2020 20:10

I just read that Nicola Sturgeon has "not ruled out" getting people from England to quarantine. How??

Spudlet · 12/07/2020 20:12

@CruCru Yes, I could see their point.

@Teateaandmoretea I’m always taken aback by weight and dress size threads on here - I tend to step away from them pretty sharpish, tbh, as I find them unsettling. As far the competitive under-eating ones... Talk about two spikes would be an extravagance...!

Mascotte · 12/07/2020 20:16

She really needs to stop this. I, snd many others, had just relaxed thinking we'd get on our holidays and this is really really shite.
HairyFloppins · 12/07/2020 20:17

I thought we were free just to cross the 'border' over into Scotland?

How can she enforce it?

Surely some people travel over the border everyday for work.

She is causing so much division. DH is still not talking to certain members of his family after the indi ref.

Mascotte · 12/07/2020 20:17

Plus the dementoring about lockdowns in the Folkestone area.. so now I'm worried about the tunnel closingz

Teateaandmoretea · 12/07/2020 20:19

It would be full Scottish independence without the referendum. Scary woman. Very glad I’m English.

Jourdain11 · 12/07/2020 20:19

On the other hand, anyone who has a BMI of less than 18.5 is obviously anorexic. I've NEVER had a BMI of 18.5, I just have narrowly placed bones or something. But try getting anyone on Mumsnet to believe that!

Teateaandmoretea · 12/07/2020 20:19

@Mascotte we can still drive up the M1 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mascotte · 12/07/2020 20:20

She can't close the border but could probably demand quarantine under public health legislation.

There isn't a border! Unless she's going to park "border control" police on EVERY road. Because that would be such a good use of public resources 🙄
Jourdain11 · 12/07/2020 20:22

@Mascotte

But it would have to be self imposed, no? And people... wouldn't.
Teateaandmoretea · 12/07/2020 20:22

There isn't a border!

Well there’s a welcome to Scotland (lol the irony) sign... so it’s if you drive past that

SomewhereEast · 12/07/2020 20:22

@SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito The guy on the Castle Howard playground entrance was really quite nice & not-dementory wasn't he! Sledmere House nearby have also reopened their adventure playground so hoping to go there sometime soonish. Sewerby Hall out near Brid also seems quite undementory.

Teateaandmoretea · 12/07/2020 20:23

I’m on holiday there in a weeks time so keep the suggestions coming Smile

Mascotte · 12/07/2020 20:23

It's ridiculous, but it makes me uneasy and spoils my excitement. I really loathe her now.

HairyFloppins · 12/07/2020 20:23

Well I'm not bothered really just would like to see MIL at some point this year. We will welcome her down into England instead and she can quarantine on her return.

TheOrchidKiller · 12/07/2020 20:25

Bubbles using keyworker status to push in to the front of a queue especially when the queue is for vulnerable & disabled shoppers= not ok!

What a cheek (if she actually was a policewoman- ask to check her credentials in future).

I saw a woman with the same NHS trust lanyard as mine coming out of B&M Bargains. There was only one reason she had that lanyard on- to queue-jump. Far be it from me to criticise another shopper's "essential" purchases but she had scented candles...

Justasking it was me who went off on one about trains & essential travel, because the police had stuck posters over the local station informing us all it was still forbidden, & I was upset about it due to personal circumstances.

Domina if you want a laugh- or a good cry because it's so dementory- watch the East Mids Trains How To Wear A Mask On The Train video. Patronising, not.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 12/07/2020 20:26

@SomewhereEast were you there today?! He was lovely. He said he used to be the butcher and I think then worked in the garden centre bit, now down doing the playground, and really enjoying it. He was great with the kids.

Labour need to get their shit together so that she can get booted out next year. I don't get why the SNP's ratings are so high. What are they achieving?
Jourdain11 · 12/07/2020 20:30

Even a mild ass-kicking so that they have to go into a proper coalition would be better than nothing. And then She Who Must Not Be Named would have to resign. The SNP have some decent people, I quite like Joanna Cherry and Stephen Gethin (sp??).
