And Humza Yousaf (definitely sp????)

Mascotte · 12/07/2020 20:32

@Jourdain11 it's hard to explain but it's like a cult. No dissent is tolerated. I could never say anything against them on my Facebook or anything or you get pure hate (called an English lover!😂 and a Tory: worst Scottish insults)

Jourdain11 · 12/07/2020 20:33

@Mascotte my friend tells me quite seriously about the time that she was almost defended walking past a pub, because FYR Macedonia has scored a goal against England in the Euro qualifiers!

Mascotte · 12/07/2020 20:34

Joanna Cherry is clever, but in cahoots with the sleazy Salmond. Machinations are afoot for a split with Ms Cherry mooted as a potential leader. But the whole party is run with an iron fist by all accounts.

Jourdain11 · 12/07/2020 20:35

Maybe you can only be SNP leader if you're named for a fish... Salmon(d), Sturgeon...

HeIenaDove · 12/07/2020 20:36

I was 12 in 1985.

@PickAChew and the other 80s kids on the thread. Tomorrow ITV4 start repeat runs of Robin of Sherwood and Dempsey and Makepeace.

Willow2017 · 12/07/2020 20:40

I just read that Nicola Sturgeon has "not ruled out" getting people from England to quarantine. How??
She said a few days ago in an interview that she did not condone border closures and anti English crap!
Wonder if she is dizzy from all the spinning she does?

BakewellTarts · 12/07/2020 21:12

@Lickyicelollies

Hey I'm in the hangover club too today. Had a lovely evening of gin and Thai curry takeaway with my friend.

Question for the English ADs - are any of the changing rooms open in ladies clothes shops? I like to try things on (radical as that seems) although clearly touching clothes and door handles means CERTAIN DEATH.

Bit late but childrens changing rooms were open when I took the DDs to buy uniform. Good job as otherwise i would definately have bought the wrong size and had all the faff of returns.
Mrsfrumble · 12/07/2020 21:22

We took the train to Welwyn Garden City yesterday. It was definitely not essential, although I did tell DH I would lose my mind if we didn’t get out of London. The train was nearly empty, and DH, DS and I wore our masks the whole journey. DD took hers off to suck her thumb, but as she’s only 7 she wasn’t breaking any roolz (this is the only place on MN I’d admit to have a 7 year old thumbsucker. I trust you lot not to start gasping “but her teeth!” and calling me a lazy parent).

Today we broke into a playground. Technically someone else had already knocked down the fencing and there were already other families in there, but DH and I are not natural rebels so it did feel a little edgy by our standards Grin It was lovely until DS got chased by a dog and fell in a patch of stinging nettles. Classic childhood mishaps!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/07/2020 21:24

It’s very easy for him and others rolling in the dough to demand “we eat out regularly” However let’s be mindful. Not everyone has gone civil duty money have they.

BakewellTarts · 12/07/2020 21:28

@Jourdain11 I hope you feel more like it soon. No real advice but I understand I have had a down week too.

SomewhereEast · 12/07/2020 21:29
@SomewhereEast were you there today?! He was lovely. He said he used to be the butcher and I think then worked in the garden centre bit, now down doing the playground, and really enjoying it. He was great with the kids.
I was there yesterday (Saturday). We had a blast! Will definitely go back.

PinkFondantFancy · 12/07/2020 21:38

Anyone know where I can get local positive test rates over time? D friend is adamant the local infection rate is out of control and I'd like to reassure her otherwise but can't find any data

Worldgonecrazy · 12/07/2020 21:44

@PinkFondantFancy the Zoe app has local figures. They had to change the numbers to per million because per hindred thousand was becoming stastically insignificant.

SomewhereEast · 12/07/2020 21:46

I do the Zoe App every day and the first time I opened it after they changed the colour coded map to per million I nearly fainted 😂

amicissimma · 12/07/2020 21:53

PinkFondantFancy, for figures rather than a map:

Shinyapps and select your county/LA/Borough from the drop down menu, or:

gov.uk, there is a menu for the data you want, including cases, on the lefthand side and when you've clicked on your selection, clicking on United Kingdom in blue will bring you assorted dropdown menus for UK nations, Health Authorities, regions or LAs, according to the dataset chosen.

PinkFondantFancy · 12/07/2020 21:53

Ah brill thanks I'll check it out

amicissimma · 12/07/2020 21:54

Data on both is a few days behind, but updates itself.

PinkFondantFancy · 12/07/2020 21:55

I'm certain the data will show it's vanishingly rare now. Shame there isn't an AD version of an app giving a comparison against your probability of having flu or chicken pox etc for context

Jourdain11 · 12/07/2020 21:59
@Jourdain11 I hope you feel more like it soon. No real advice but I understand I have had a down week too.
Thank you. It's sort of on and off. I'll be okay for a while and then I get all panicky and teary again. I keep feeling my heart racing and I hate it. Just need to get it together, honestly!

BogRollBOGOF · 12/07/2020 22:10

Then the rest of us will have to do double the duty to save the NHS and the nation. A tough job, but someone's gotta do it Grin
TheOrchidKiller · 12/07/2020 22:11

Jourdain
Breathe in for 7 and out for 11.
Repeat until you feel less heart-racey.
Practise when you feel calmer so it's easier to do when you're anxious.

I get it. Flowers

DominaShantotto · 12/07/2020 22:21

Dh has put the news on which is so "woooo face masks are awesome" it's knocked me right down again (good job the GP is ringing tomorrow as my mental health is now quality of life none existent).

And the twits out the back are drinking again so will be loud all night again.

Kids have had such a good weekend sleeping over with their friends though - took a long while for DD2 to not want to hug up on my lap and go interact with other kids as she didn't quite know if she was allowed to or the rules of interacting with them or anything though which was heartbreaking to see. She's normally the kid who can make three friends before she's got in a playground gate.

BogRollBOGOF · 12/07/2020 22:22

Yoga with Adriene is good for calming.
She's got lots of 5-10 minute videos from simple meditation, to gentle bedtime stretches as well as the more usual range of yoga workouts.

Jourdain11 · 12/07/2020 22:27

Thank you for the tips. I tried the breathing thing and it did help a bit.

I just keep tearing up and it's weird. I barely ever cry!
