What size is your bed?

We are staying in a lovely house for a few days. But the bed is a queen size double. Bloomin’ tiny! We are used to a super king. I just can’t sleep with DH on top of me Grin
It had me wondering if many people use a queen size bed? I know they used to be the norm, and space will be an issue for some. But what size is your bed?

We used to have a double. About three weeks ago we got a euro king (between a king and super king)
I don’t know how we coped for 5 years in a double

torthecatlady · 09/07/2020 03:28

We have a double. We could definitely do with a bigger bed, but we don't have the room for it.

copingnotcoping · 09/07/2020 03:37

King sized. Too big, too lonely.

zigzagbetty · 09/07/2020 03:40

We moved to a king from a double a few years ago and the extra space was amazing! Do not know how we managed before. Am eyeing up a super king for our next bed, will get rid of wardrobes if need be Grin

YerAWizardHarry · 09/07/2020 04:00

Just a standard double here. Would like bigger but not enough room. That and mattresses are eye-wateringly expensive

bez91 · 09/07/2020 04:06

We have a king. Bit of a waste these days as DH sleeps downstairs as up for work super early to avoid being disrupted by DD and I spend all night sat on her bedroom floor 🥳

I know when we go elsewhere it feels so small in a double and we're both slimish x

needsleepz · 09/07/2020 04:50

Superking and love it! Really struggle in a double now but we managed fine in a double before we got used to the bigger one! Massive pain to change the duvet cover though.

ClashCityRocker · 09/07/2020 04:56

Double here!

We're both short arsed though. I must admit when I'm sleeping in a larger bed on holiday it feels too big.

Dhalandchips · 09/07/2020 05:07

Super king all to myself! Luxury Grin

OddestSock · 09/07/2020 05:27

King. And to think DH and I used to share a single when I was at university!

fairydustandpixies · 09/07/2020 05:48

I have a king - just for me!! Oh, and maybe the dog sometimes! 😁

Cooltalkin · 09/07/2020 05:57

Super king
We were in a double but after staying in a few hotel rooms with super kings we splashed out at home .
I love love my bed .
Did I say I love it ?

Cooltalkin · 09/07/2020 06:01

@needsleepz
I agree , it’s a fight with the bed linen tho
There is a trick to the duvet tho - look up duvet burrito on you tube

I can’t get my head round how it works but it does !!

JPlusTwo · 09/07/2020 06:04

King size, it may take up half the bedroom but my oh my it’s the best thing ever.
After making the switch from double to king when I lived with ExH it was a total revelation, like others said you wonder how you ever fit in a double.
Plus DD was a horrible sleeper and always BF lots at night, so there was always room for safer co-sleeping which would never have worked in a double.
And now? DCs share a room, ExH is gone and I have the comfiest king size aaaaall to myself to star fish in whenever I please Grin

Eminybob · 09/07/2020 06:04

King size. DH and I have had kings for as long as we’ve lived together so I couldn’t imagine having a double. A couple of times we’ve stayed in hotels with just a double and it feels tiny.

That said I don’t think we’d need any bigger. I feel that we have plenty of space, even when one of the DC has squeezed in between us.

Eminybob · 09/07/2020 06:11

I’ve just watched a duvet burrito demo on YouTube. Definitely going to try that.

But.. I don’t understand why the woman was saying duvet cover, but was calling the duvet a “comforter”. Now I get that that’s what Americans call a duvet, but then surely it’s a comforter cover, not a duvet cover Confused

Rookie93 · 09/07/2020 06:23

We've a super king, and love the space. Feels cool even on hot nights. Usually shared with the cat, although she sleeps on my head so not taking up much space.

My OH is 6'3 and I'm a dumpy lard arse, we struggle when staying somewhere with a double bed. It feels tiny and difficult to sleep easily.

TwinMum89 · 09/07/2020 06:24

We are in a super king. Upgraded when we had our twins!

Alderaan · 09/07/2020 06:25

We use a double and I'm a fatty. I genuinely like being close to my husband though, so it isn't an issue

TeddyIsaHe · 09/07/2020 06:27

Super king. Dp is 6’8 so we need the space. And it’s lovely to properly stretch out in your sleep!

Billyjoearmstrong · 09/07/2020 06:38

We’ve got a king now and I hate it.

I’m out last house we had a super king. We had two separate single mattresses on it, both different for each of or preferences. It was wonderful. New house it wouldn’t fit. I really miss it.

HoneyBee03 · 09/07/2020 06:40

Super king. We went from a double to the super king and it was the best decision we ever made!

LovingLen · 09/07/2020 06:58

King, that’s the biggest that will comfortably fit in the bedroom

Bluesheep8 · 09/07/2020 07:03

King size with super King bedding. Whatever size the bed, the next size up quilt is the way forward.

sarge89 · 09/07/2020 07:04

Super king. By morning, 2 dogs and a toddler have invaded so we need all the space we can get!
