@Orangeblossom78

The pub lady said she was up all evening calling 60 odd people at her pub for one positive case. Hmm. So it seems they don;t just contact the table next to them - well guess they might not know that if they just take everyone's details.
I think she might have misunderstood. She's not supposed to be doing that, that is Test and Trace's job.

I can see why she might - probably quicker tbh - but part of the reason for the existence of T&T is to make sure records are kept and lines of transmission tracked. (And to avoid apportion of blame).

Allflightscancelled · 07/07/2020 17:58

Oh @NannyPhlegm I know you are right about the money. But I've got to the point now where I just do that very British eyeroll thing because it's just too tiring to question it.

torydeathdrug · 07/07/2020 18:01

@Allflightscancelled that’s brilliant dementor logic 🤣 ... very glad the lessons are back on though!

Some NHS progress - I had a phone primary triage appointment to assess whether I’m at high risk of dying should I catch covid during my outpatient appointment ... now that they’ve decided I’m not (thank you computer) a nurse will triage me to see if I’m allowed to see a doctor in the hospital or if it has to be zoom.

I also found out they have suspended their complaints procedure Shock

NothingIsWrong · 07/07/2020 18:01

Today's workload has completely wired me to the moon. I've been running on adrenaline trying to get so much done, on calls on Teams on email and although I've stopped for today, my brain is going 100 miles an hour in circles about all the stuff I still have to do.

Fucking dementors doing my head in. They want lockdown. But they still want those of us who have to work to keep people safe to go out. But not put themselves at risk. And then when I do fancy a PERFECTLY LEGAL pint, I'm being irresponsible. I am so over it.

Allflightscancelled · 07/07/2020 18:03

Suspended their complaints procedure???? Oh my god Shock

torydeathdrug · 07/07/2020 18:04

^ That’s not how it should work! That’s a disaster from a confidentially perspective - when some tests positive the T&T people should contact the landlady for her list & that’s the end of her involvement. It is up to the clinicians to decide who counts as a contact.

torydeathdrug · 07/07/2020 18:09

@Allflightscancelled yup the neighbouring CCG have too. It is stunning.

My mum is trying to help her friend whose husband died (covid), they have hit a wall of denial & obfuscation ... no one will tell them what happened, notes are missing etc. It’s nightmarish.

Allflightscancelled · 07/07/2020 18:14

@torydeathdrug

Notes are missing? That's awful. This used to happen to cover up issues, I know, but I thought (hoped, really) the NHS had done work to tighten things up so it couldn't happen so easily now. Heartbreaking.

This may be a daft question, but is there a PALS service at the hospital? They can be very useful. Get a good one and they are absolute terriers.

DominaShantotto · 07/07/2020 18:16

Oh poor DD2... her best friend is leaving the school in July - and she's obviously not seen her since March. Asked school to pass her email address onto her friend so they could stay in touch and she just got an email and her face is absolutely a picture of joy!

Willitneverend · 07/07/2020 18:25

We have booked lunch for this weekend at a nice place up the coast. We are going by train so we can have Wine. There's a big playpark for the kids for before lunch. Cant wait.

Allflightscancelled · 07/07/2020 18:25

Oh bless her, Domina

Orangeblossom78 · 07/07/2020 18:29

On the pub thing- so would all those people be supposed to isolate themselves then? Confused

She said they were closing for a couple of days...but I thought it took weeks for symptoms? I'm a bit confused with it all.

Yes it is off putting isn't it.

SeaOtterFluff · 07/07/2020 18:32

Checking in, big thanks for the new thread! I'm still caravaning but likely to leave for home tomorrow - the weather isn't being kind and I've not really relaxed into the break. Everyone has been really welcoming but I find the constant queuing, arrow following and sanitising exhausting every time we go out. I had anxiety attacks after suffering PND when DS was a baby and I am starting to feel the same now, 17 years on.

I totally agree. DH is a lorry driver and I'm in supply chain for food, so we're definitely expendable. I've had legal pints, a full English and pie & chips this week and they were awesome.
Mascotte · 07/07/2020 18:41

Holiday update, if I'm allowed to go, now going to stay in Boulogne. Hotel in the old town. Very near the tunnel and a port city. Lots of seafood! I suspect DP has cold feet again already though but not so fussed now.

Good luck with driving and sorry for those having NHS problems.

Orangeblossom78 · 07/07/2020 18:42

Maybe vouchers could be used for takeaway Wink

Spudlet · 07/07/2020 18:42

It’s now peeing it down here and according to the Met Office is set to continue doing so for the next couple of days, in varying degrees of heaviness. So much for speech therapy happening outdoors then. We shall have to have it indoors, freezing our butts off with the windows wide open 🙈 I may well light a fire!

How on Earth that’s supposed to work in the winter I don’t know. Are we all doomed to perpetual chilblains? I get those without having all the windows open!

Orangeblossom78 · 07/07/2020 18:43

Sea otter sorry to hear that I know what you mean I had PND also. That similar trapped feeling Sad

Orangeblossom78 · 07/07/2020 18:44

Sounds like - rather than risking T&T and them having to close for a fortnight along with everyone who attended isolating for a fortnight they are taking a 'home guard' approach.
The person with it notified her so she's doing a deep clean and has notified all the other pub goers who can then give it a couple of weeks where they isolate decide to be super careful and maybe get a test if they feel a bit off --or know they got too close to someone else.

The positive side is that the landlady did it straight away. I don't know how long the contact tracers are taking but it would be wonderfully unusual for a govt dept to have got into gear and contacted people so quickly.

Mascotte · 07/07/2020 18:46

@SeaOtterFluff this has also triggered CPTSD in me and it's really horrible. Want to run away, hence the holiday I suppose. All the protections in place freak me.

We're in Shropshire, near the Welsh border. Not attempted to cross into Wales, just in case we're accosted by the army or something!
