TWO people have died in Scotland overnight. Two. I’ve had bigger nights out in Glasgow.

This is utter fuckery.

SomewhereEast · 18/06/2020 12:56

Must admit though, I'm enjoying mumsnet's change of heart on chemicals
Pre-Covid:"All my baby's food is organic & prepared from scratch at home because....evil chemicals & What About The Planet????
Post-Covid: "You aren't bleaching your entire foodshop!"

ButterMeCrumpets · 18/06/2020 12:56

She’s still keeping the 5 mile nonsense

That's because the virus is lurking around the corner 5.5 miles away don't you know Confused

No wonder people are fed up. The guidance is so random.

SockYarn · 18/06/2020 12:57

I am NOT wearing a face covering in a shop. She can fuck right off with that one.

But teh rest of the changes are identical to England. Support bubbles, compulsory masks on public transport.

KaronAVyrus · 18/06/2020 12:58

Have we got to wear a face mask in a shop? Ffs this is getting ridiculous now. The power has gone to her head.

SockYarn · 18/06/2020 12:58

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane you are not wrong.

Thank God for this place. We're tentatively thinking of booking a Judas cottage in August so thought I'd take a peek at the holiday cottage thread. It was madness I tell you, madness! Dementors trying to rationalize disinfecting the peg bag in said holiday cottage and how they intend to spend the first half of their holiday scrubbing out the fridge with a toothbrush. I had to back away slowly and tried not to make eye contact or any sudden movements.

SockYarn · 18/06/2020 12:59

No, she is "looking at the evidence" to decide whether we need to wear face coverings in shops.

Translation - she'll wait to see what Boris does.

Thank god for that. When I go to Tesco I just sanitise my hands and make sure I don’t touch my face. Common sense and all that.
peaceanddove · 18/06/2020 13:00

Judas cottage? I have no idea how that happened, I meant holiday cottage.

rookiemere · 18/06/2020 13:02

Zoos will be open from 29/06 for local residents Hmm. That's good as Edinburgh zoo was worried about going bankrupt if having to wait until 15th July - must pay a visit the weekend it's open also because there is naff all else to do.
So no mention of outdoor pubs is that the 2nd July then ?

SockYarn · 18/06/2020 13:04

Five Sisters in West Lothian is on even a more shoogly peg - not the profile of the big zoos. DS desperate to go back and see his favourite lemurs.

Everything can fuck off. Everything!! I just had a snotty email from a snotty fucking jobsworth council fuckwit who has accused me of being open for business and breaking the law. Some twat dobbed me in, even though I haven't been breaking any stupid bullshit made up rules.

God I am so OVER all this stupid fucking shit Angry

Big businesses are allowed to open while small microbusiness go to the wall because no one in government has actually given any thought to it - it's just a blanket "no".

HesterShaw1 · 18/06/2020 13:07

Excuse the extreme fucking sweariness.

Spudlet · 18/06/2020 13:08

Our holiday cottage is still booked for next month... whether we’ll be able to go is another matter, of course. It’s an extended family trip too so who knows what the roolz will be by the end of July? At the moment, we’ve bubbled with FiL, and BiL and SiL are bubbled with SiLs mum - that’s everyone who is supposed to be going, so if we’re allowed to join bubbles we’ll be golden. Otherwise, I guess our bubble won’t be going (it was BiL and SiL who booked everything so they’ll be the ones to go, quite rightly).

Fingers crossed 🤞

OhFuckOffWithTheBubbleBollocks · 18/06/2020 13:09

You see I actually feel more reassured when people wear face masks, certainly on public transport and also shops. People maybe just in my local area cough without covering their mouths and spit when they talk. They also spit on pavements but that's probably definitely just my local area. My DC use public transport and they can be packed - so I worry and think face masks/coverings are Good. Am I deluding myself? Don't shout at me, I'm shielding and at risk of sad death Wink so be gentle. You've probably discussed this at length on threads I have missed though.

If you all behave and don't cough on me I will post a photo of my new face covering which, believe me, will brighten anyone's day Grin Spoiler - it has ears...

Dowser · 18/06/2020 13:12

Gosh, 4 pages aLready while I’ve been chatting to my lovely cousin in the vale of Glamorgan.

She said it’s grim down there and I believe her.

Frugaleer
We only did the mid section as we stupidly didn’t arrive till 3 and just made boyes before they shut at 3-30
Lewis and cooper open till 5
Nice to see Barkers open
I’m not a barkers shopper but nice to see it open
Seemed like a lot were shutting at 4, so go earlier than us.
We’re hopeless
Had our lunch at 4 in the park

The new title 😱😂
Never ever again

rookiemere · 18/06/2020 13:12

Sockyarn I'm afraid 5 sisters is too far away to even consider Wink.
Edinburgh zoo is 6 miles away from us so I will be taking a carefully considered decision if this meets the "broadly within 5 mikes definition ". Perhaps if we drove 5 miles and walked the last one that would be ok and save on exorbitant parking fee. Of course it would be open on a bloody Monday so it's a further 5 days before I can get there as wouldn't want the visitors to be flocking there. Far better that they use the smaller animals as food for the bigger ones and then let the lions and zebras loose to roam majestically on Costorphine hill, than any more single digit now per day people die from Covid.

Dowser · 18/06/2020 13:13

Frugaleer..you must be in Teesside as the next county would be Derbyshire

Drivingdownthe101 · 18/06/2020 13:14

OhFuckOffWithTheBubbleBollocks my issue with face makes is that I’m extremely claustrophobic and even the thought of one gives me cold sweats.
But my plan is just to not go anywhere that requires them until they’re no longer required! I don’t use public transport anyway and am happy to stay away from shops for the foreseeable.

TheCheapKnickersofDeath · 18/06/2020 13:15

We're tentatively thinking of booking a Judas cottage in August so thought I'd take a peek at the holiday cottage thread

What's the going rate for one of those? 30 pieces of silver and a lingering sense of guilt? Grin

SockYarn · 18/06/2020 13:15

Rookiemere, how are they going to police it? It's more than 5 miles from me too. But you are allowed to travel more than 5 miles to see relatives so if we're stopped, I'm just on a roundabout route to visit my mum.

But who's going to stop you?

I'm watching the news. This is the first time for a long time. What I can draw from this is; Nicola is a power mad lunatic. Dominic raab continues to make himself look like an absolute tosser. BUT they are talking about schools being closed damaging children. On the actual lunchtime news. Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?

Dowser · 18/06/2020 13:19

That’s awful Hester
Are they now forcing you to close
