Primark in Wales not re-opening on Monday. That is causing an upset on FB

SeaOtterFluff · 19/06/2020 16:48

I am so looking forward to mooching in charity shops this weekend. It's been far too long and I'm hoping the really posh one in the next town has had some nice donations in my size... since I'm not the same size as I was last summer.

Interesting point from @Supermarketworker06. I'm in a food manufacturing environment (not chickens) with hundreds of staff. No increase in sick leave, one confirmed case but bizarrely his wife (that he works with, as well as living with) tested negative. I've never washed my shopping nor insisted DH strips as soon as he gets in the door. This has disappointed him.

AnxiousElephant77 · 19/06/2020 16:49

I've just googled Oakman Inns to see if there's one by us (there is), as the owner has said he's opening on 4th July and Boris can get to fuck Grin

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 19/06/2020 16:49

Oh God, yes to the white feathers. What a thought!

torydeathdrug · 19/06/2020 16:49

gah Gavin Williamson today, it's a toss up between him & Raab over who is most pathetic. Hancock is the most annoying - he's replaced Gove as the one I'd most like to slap. They haven't made Rishi do it for a while, maybe he's in a back room somewhere crying!

Teateaandmoretea · 19/06/2020 16:55

Nothing beats ‘schools shouldn’t go back until it is 100% safe’ for me

Willow2017 · 19/06/2020 16:55

Arghhh Blair Drummond is even further away than the zoo😭😭😭

Yep that White Feather thing was seriously despicable. Such fecking holier than thou types desperate to shame people into being cannon fodder.
Good job there isnt a mn emoji on here for 'murderer' ! Posters eould be getting repetative strain injury daily.😉

Spudlet · 19/06/2020 16:56

On the white feathers thing - I’m sure it was in They Shall Not Grow Old where one of the WW1 veterans was talking about having a white feather thrust at him when he was 15, and when he told the woman his age she said something like That’s what they all say’. So he went off and lied about his age to enlist. It made me so irrationally furious with some long-dead woman 🤬

There would definitely have been a fair few featherers on MN, sadly. Though I don’t think it’s restricted to here, it’s across the board. People love to shame others and they love to virtue signal, unfortunately.

Khione · 19/06/2020 16:58

I have today decided my patronus is a hedgehog. Namely one spikey friend (Oggy) that I have been feeding and who I think is about to give birth. As she was eating her supper (or is it breakfast for nocturnals) her considerable (for her size) bulk was moving and changing shape in a way which I haven't previously noticed happening so I am hoping I will very soon have a family of little hogs to feed.

TuckMyWin · 19/06/2020 17:03

@BarkandCheese it was open at ours last weekend. Reading.

justasking111 · 19/06/2020 17:03

Do not think we will be having baby hedge hogs very soon, bathroom window open last week OH went for a wee during the night and caught sight of them bonking away very noisily in the alley down the side of the house Grin

Khione · 19/06/2020 17:12

They are extremely noisy aren't they?

pregnancy is about 35 days so won't be too long 😆

fartingsparkles · 19/06/2020 17:12

@mightbe I think it's a combination. My 2 yo is the same - screaming when I leave the room, clingier than ever. I think her age is a factor. But then I think that her world, which included playgroup, coffee with friends, parks, relatives has shrunk to me and her brother. I'm just hoping it can be turned around.

@worldgonecrazy I'm the same. Have been through parents' deaths, dh's illness and death and 'managed'. Illness was the hardest but we coped. This has nearly done for me. The enforced isolation, lack of f2f contact and others' potential judgement has been thoroughly unpleasant.

Willow2017 · 19/06/2020 17:12

Spulet thats horrific. If my son told me some crank bitch had said that to him there would be some serious pus smacking! And I am so non- confrontational but that would tip me right over.

Oh that's exciting Khione fingers crossed for babies soon.

Argh phones about to die. Will have to watch Houston Animal Cops without Mn to distract me from throwing something at the tv fecking ignorant pet owners. 😀

Mrsfrumble · 19/06/2020 17:13

Oh there DEFINITELY would have been featherers on MN. And smug wanging on about their own husbands and sons fighting on the front line. Like the large number of posts back in April that began “DH, who is an essential / keyworker....” even when it was of no relevance to the subject at hand.

@BogRollBOGOF was the playground open, or did you break in? I’d freeze my tits off too for my children to have a chance to swing and slide.

I’ve hit a wall today with homeschooling and parenting in general. DD did one single maths worksheet. DS copied his history assignment straight out of a Horrible Histories book. They had cornettos for lunch. And I’ve just realised that nobody except DH cleaned their teeth this morning. Children are currently in the living room watching their umpteenth episode of Captain Underpants while I’m sitting in the kitchen avoiding them. I just want some time apart from them that isn’t the measly 2 hours between when DS falls asleep and I do.

On the bright side, I love hearing about everyone’s shopping expeditions!

Ibake · 19/06/2020 17:16

Friend just sent this to me. Cabinet gender swap. BoJo looks like Rebel Wilson and I now fancy male Priti.

Mascotte · 19/06/2020 17:16

When (if?!) the shops open here I'm going to drive to Glasgow and browse the West End for some little bits I need for the house.

I saw this yesterday and also fancy the make Priti Grin. Raab looks better as a female.
Drivingdownthe101 · 19/06/2020 17:18

At least Williamson has said all children will be back at school in September. No guidance as to how though!

Ibake · 19/06/2020 17:19

And who'd have thought that the bland Gavin Williamson would be so hot as a woman?!

NannyPhlegm · 19/06/2020 17:19

Oh my, female Raab and male Priti are hot!
Female Rishi looks like he(she?) could be head girl

NannyPhlegm · 19/06/2020 17:21

Priti's smirk usually winds me up no end. But on a male face, it's very come-hither.

This has left me feeling very confused Blush Grin

Spudlet · 19/06/2020 17:27

That thing is all kinds of confusing and wrong ConfusedGrin

Well, DS and I went on a murder spree today - supermarket for eggs, milk and a two-pack of shorts, Mountain Warehouse in the garden centre for two new T-shirts, some rose spray and a Hot Wheels car from the garden centre and then we went round the one-way system again because there was cut-price sandpit sand at the exit which we hadn’t seen because of the blasted one-way system. Our body count will be extreme.

DS was good as gold, he now has some clothes that actually fit, his sandpit will be a sandpit again as opposed to just a pit, and the rose will hopefully now recover from its black spot so all good. We’re watching Cars again now.

It was good. One of those little mundane trips that we’d have taken totally for granted before all this. But it felt epic today.

Orangeblossom78 · 19/06/2020 17:28

Glad it is not just us like that MrsFrumble sounds very similar here. Smile

ISaySteadyOn · 19/06/2020 17:30

@LivinLaVidaLoki, so sorry to hear about your aunt.

@BogRollBOGOF, I too want to know if you broke in to the playground. Ours are chained and padlocked just to make it extra clear that children are unwelcome.

On the school subject, I have actually had to take DS out. He's been unhappy all week except the first day. Turns out they have to put their hands out to make sure they are far enough away from each other and don't touch but they can play It and touch each other then. Which is not confusing for a 6 yo at all. Hmm
