Morning everyone

I watched a video last night of someone involved in the vaccine trials and I feel a bit better today. Perhaps it'll come to nothing, or the vaccine will kill us, but it was very interesting. That, and FINALLY moving to Level 3, and the fact that it's Friday, is making my mood a teensy bit better.

It won't last, I'll probably be furious again later.

KaronAVyrus · 19/06/2020 11:14

I’ll fully admit I live in the wrong country - I shouldn’t live in Scotland but in Crete but due to the fact I’m thick as fuck the chances of me learning Greek is zero. So here I am, pissed of in the rain.

To be fair, having previously lived in Spain, Italy and France I would say I’m far better suited to sunnier climes.

What happened with your aunt livin
For her to recover, then pass away.
I know lung recovery can take a while
How sad is that

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 19/06/2020 11:18

It may rain a lot in Scotland but at least we don’t sweat or need to invest in a “summer wardrobe”. I’ve lived in a hot place and would only give it 2 stars out of 5.

Drivingdownthe101 · 19/06/2020 11:19

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane

Who are these children who haven’t grown out of all their “bad weather clothing?”

Walking in the rain is shit. It’s non-stop whining, then when you get home you need to try and get everyone undressed without muddy water going on EVERYTHING and wellies being stomped the length of the house. Then as you’re trying to unleash the dog and get your own shoes and coat off up starts the whining for food.

Cut yourself some slack - put in mine craft and put baileys in your coffee instead.

Now Baileys in my coffee is the best suggestion I’ve had all day.
NannyPhlegm · 19/06/2020 11:24

KaronAVyrus I just read your name out loud, and the penny dropped! Lockdown has obviously slowed me down. Nice one, it made me chuckle

Spudlet · 19/06/2020 11:24

I swear, every single thing that has come out of DSs mouth today has been prefaced with ‘I want’.

Baileys in my coffee sounds awesome 😎

Don't do it! Once you have tasted Bailey's in your coffee you can never go back to drinking plain coffee, ever!
RubberDinghyRapids · 19/06/2020 11:28

Just filled my cafetière (?sp) but alas no baileys... will rum do? Grin

My face has exploded in bloody acne from mask wearing, and I only wear it at work, and I'm bloody part time. To everyone who has to/or chooses to wear one more than me you have my utter respect and sympathy in equal measure grumble grumble fecking acne at 33 is shite

mylittleyumyum · 19/06/2020 11:29

Morning all! Can anyone suggest any Hawaiian/luau/tiki related games or activities for a group of 12 year olds? They can improvise limbo, I have a photobooth arrangement, grass skirts, ukulele music queued up on Alexa but at a loss now and sort of wishing I hadn't ordered umpteen grass skirts and inflatable palm trees on a whim....

Teateaandmoretea · 19/06/2020 11:29

I can’t believe we’ve moved down to 3 FINALLY. I must admit I thought that we’d be at 4 even when there were no cases Grin

Tbf I’m a fairly committed hiker and will walk in the rain but the idea that the weather doesn’t make a difference to enjoyment is another level. Plus we’ve had hailstones here like bloody ice cubes Hmm

FluffyKittensinabasket · 19/06/2020 11:29

One poster in particular never fails to piss me off with her predictions of a second wave and doom. Never fails to mention she’s “shielded” like it’s a badge of honour and she works in a supermarket.

The “literally sobbing and shaking” woman at someone buying chocolate in a supermarket back in April.

mylittleyumyum · 19/06/2020 11:29

oh, and the party is tomorrow so I have zero chance of having more things delivered

I was going to say cocktail making then saw they’re 12 Grin
BlackberryViolet · 19/06/2020 11:30

@LivinLaVidaLoki so sorry to hear about your aunt and @Jourdain11Hope your home soon Flowers

Did my usual Friday morning pointless activity today, trying to get slots for a couple of National Trust gardens. Logged on at 6 to try for either Benningborough, Cragside, Gibside or Fountains Abbey next weekend. Failed on all 4 for either day, could get 2 tickets for Cragside but I need 4. Utterly pissed off today and ended up crying in a zoom meeting.

I have to go into battle with the LA again as dd2 is getting no education at all. She’s had no education since January as she’s autistic and can’t cope in a mainstream setting but the LA have refused specialist provision and have come up with some half baked solution after agreeing in February that specialist provision was needed. Utterly fucked off as everything is taking so long and I know now that she won’t have anywhere to go in September.

Teateaandmoretea · 19/06/2020 11:31

The anti-anti-dementor thread is funny. The OP seems to not realise that at least 50% of mumsnetters are anti-dementors.

Orangeblossom78 · 19/06/2020 11:33

yumyum

Hula hooping? I saw ladies on our park with rainbow ones during lockdown

Mascotte · 19/06/2020 11:33

@Drivingdownthe101 my 12 year old made me a cocktail yesterday 😳

Orangeblossom78 · 19/06/2020 11:33

Also useful for social distancing (argh)

Drivingdownthe101 · 19/06/2020 11:33

I’ve gone with Peppa Pig and Maryland cookies to keep the toddler amused, and online shopping, coffee and Maryland cookies to keep me amused.

Drivingdownthe101 · 19/06/2020 11:34
@Drivingdownthe101 my 12 year old made me a cocktail yesterday 😳
Should I even admit that my 6 year old sometimes pours me a gin and tonic?

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 19/06/2020 11:34

Non-alcoholic cocktail making is a brilliant idea - and yumyum can pop a shot of tequila in hers. I wonder how many people have sadly died for those grass skirts. Millions no doubt.

RubberDinghyRapids · 19/06/2020 11:34

@BlackberryViolet Did you go straight to EventBrite? I had better success when I went via the NT site. Dunno why that made a difference but couldn't get tickets before and got straight in that way.

mylittleyumyum · 19/06/2020 11:36

oooh, hula hooping sounds perfect. @Drivingdownthe101 my DD makes a pretty mean mojito but I don't trust her friends not to waste my rum...
