This'll be thread number 13, I think.

Let's hope it's a lucky one Grin

(Sorry about the feeble title)

...and home again
I managed to scoot up almost empty roads and miss the road closure , as we left late
Couldn’t tear myself away from my happy place, the sunshine and the chickens..yes even at 8-30 pm
Soon as we got north of Northallerton, the fog and mist descended again..and the heating is on.

I think dh was watching his day disappear down the swannie , with my broken tooth snotty, tears meltdown but once I’d got it out of my system i was able to claw it back
Probably once it dawned on me, I wasn’t actually in pain, just shock..ptsd, with everything going on being piled on top of everything else
I look like Dracula but we’ve survived.

New title
Anti dementors surviving and thriving.
Got some good h and b bargains..a weleda factor 50 sunscreen for my face..£13-50 for £1-50
Calendula cream ( that’s marigolds) for cuts and grazes, normally about £6 each and I got 4 for £3
Lots of goodies from boyes..a charcoal face scrub, for a couple of quid, aloe Vera gel and a lotion for mixing with colloidal silver to make a healing salve..again a couple of quid

I love the. City of roundabouts for a visit. Was a trustee for a charity based there and got to see some excellent theatre .
The charity medical detection dogs is based there . If you haven’t been to an open day, do try to visit.
They can sniff one drop of cancer containing substance in the size of an Olympic swimming pool

The founder of the charity was wondering why her pet kept sniffing around her boob and she said a lump that wouldn’t have shown up on a scan.
I sent money after mum passed away. Mum loved animals And it felt a fitting tribute.

We used to stay at the holiday inn express on willen lake. Happy days.
May never get back that way now

Oh and I’ve heard about the dreaded Swindon roundabout and terrified, I end up there by accident 😱😱😱

torydeathdrug · 17/06/2020 22:28

Good ft piece about schools - I’m not sure if it’s been posted before

Out in all weathers? We went out walking on Sunday. Chance of scattered showers... didn't seem worth taking jackets... it wouldn't have been worth carrying them anyway as it was the kind of power shower which laughs through Gortex and quite frankly, I wish the showers at the swimming pool were as vigourous Grin We were trying not to brick it and keep reassuring the kids as the world flashed white and went KABOOM 7 seconds later as we stood ankle deep in a river that didn't exist 5 minutes earlier Grin
The kids did not go out to play with today's 90 minute storm....

Had a good murderous supermarket spree. Still plenty of face masks in Costco, but less gloves. Social distancing is so April 2020.

Bumped into a teacher from school who taught DS1 last year. She's enjoying being back in. No space for my two which I suspected anyway, but I did say that I can get them on within 3 minutes of them being invited back Wink I updated her on DS1's updated collection of diagnoses as she went on maternity leave about a year ago and only came back in Feb. He might be able to do a phased return as I'm concerned about adjusting back to normal busyness and sensory input. Her vibe was optomistic for September. I used to help her with the class for swimming so we used to chat as the class changed. She is totally lovely and it's a shame she jumped down year groups so DS2 is unlikely to ever have her.

Me too Shock

Dear god! Meta roundabouts!!

There must be some Covid objection to such a monstrosity, surely...

channels inner Dementor

AHA! What if you have a crash and the paramedics have to come and get you and they don't have enough body bags?

What THEN??

Mrsfrumble · 17/06/2020 22:53

Wish you lot can talk (type?) ! I missed a couple of threads and almost couldn’t find you!

@Jourdain11 I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling crap. DH had chemo about 9 years ago and I remember the treks to hospital for every raised temperature and upset stomach. I really hope this one passes soon for you.

So a few days ago after much nagging from the kids I messaged another school mum, who I get on with really well and consider a friend, to ask if she fancied meeting up at the park so the children could play and we could stand 2 M apart and chat. She hasn’t replied and now I’m worried that I’ve overstepped and she’s going to think I’m totally irresponsible for suggesting it. It’s so hard to judge, as when we’ve bumped into families we know in various parks it’s been fine for the children to have non-socially-distanced play. But maybe planning it is less acceptable? I haven’t been paying much attention to the whole “social bubble” thing as we have no chance of seeing family anytime soon anyway.

Dowser · 17/06/2020 22:56

Yes they great wave, they’d stopped traffic on the high st, was much nicer

Dowser · 17/06/2020 22:59

Wow bog roll, sounded really dramatic
We’ve had no rain but our ne coastal resort has been very misty
But Sunday and today once we escaped past Northallerton was wonderful
I wonder if the dentist will ring me tomorrow
Obviously as I’m not in pain! I’m not high priority

Jourdain11 · 17/06/2020 23:06

Hello everyone Smile
Back in the boring old hospital, worse luck. "Better safe than sorry" and all that, according to them. I'm lucky that they're being diligent and not saying "ooooh, stay away because Corona" though.
Anyway, I'm getting all the drugs on a drip and feeling a bit better thankfully! DD1 was upset though, and I feel bad Sad

Mascotte · 17/06/2020 23:12

Oh, @Jourdain that's a bit shit. Least they're looking after you, and don't feel bad, it's not your fault. 💐

AnxiousElephant77 · 17/06/2020 23:16

@Jourdain11 Hope you feel better soon xx

Nihiloxica · 17/06/2020 23:19

Aw shit @Jourdain11. Sad

Don't feel bad. You are where you need to be for now. Mind yourself Flowers

Dowser · 17/06/2020 23:19

Viral membrane
Just thought I’d post this for you re your trigeminal nerve pain and dmso
At the moment I can’t vouch for it personally, mine just came today
But I’ve heard some excellent reports about it

I’m going to start off by rubbing some into my sore aching muscles

But if it does what it says in the tin..well who knows

I need to thoroughly read this document
Now is not the time, it’s bedtime
Before I. Dive in, but I might just try a bit on my sore muscles 🤞

bakingcupcakes · 17/06/2020 23:20

@Jourdain11 If that's where the doctors think you should be then it's the best place. Poor DD1, hopefully DH can reassure her a bit. It must be incredibly hard to explain it to the children.

Interesting article @torydeathdrug. DS goes back on Monday. I had a little panic earlier about how much disruption it'll cause if we have to isolate because I've sent him to school. Overall though I think the benefits will outweigh the risks.

Dowser · 17/06/2020 23:21

Oh jourdain..so sorry.
Hopefully you’ll feel better soon.

CarrotPuff · 17/06/2020 23:21

@Jourdain11 sorry you're feeling shit, but glad you're being looked after. Get better soon 💐

@CruCru I saw that article on BBC news actually, finally a bit of common sense!

Our HT was quite dementorish at the start. Was very clear she didn't want (or rather, felt it safe) for kids to go back, but she's done a complete U turn, and next week they're getting Y2 back. It's a small single entry primary, so I think they can only introduce one more year after that and that's it, as they now have 2 kw classes. Unless they put them in the gym and dining hall then r something.

Willow2017 · 17/06/2020 23:30

Oh that's both good and bad all at once Jourdain Glad they are looking after you but crap you have to be there at all. Hope you get a good night's sleep (as far as its possible in hospital)

Roundabouts in roundabouts feck that would scare me witless I hate them. Small ones fine big ones noooo especially if i have never been on them before.

Must be a day for meltdowns😞
Went to bed early (for me) and as i am.not sleeping much decided to try a meditation video..
Well 1 minute in I was crying like a baby! Every sodding thing that's crap in my life just now just came crashing down on me. Another thing added to my pile of crap today and i think it tipped me over the edge.😞 Had a real.pity party to myself, so much for an early night. Wish i could get something just to knock me out at night so didnt have time think about anything.

Nihiloxica · 17/06/2020 23:35

Willow 🤗

Apparently that is a hug emoji. I always thought it meant jazz hands, so I used it a LOT.

But you get a rare intentional and totally non-social distanced hug.

NothingIsWrong · 17/06/2020 23:36

This is the Magic Roundabout in Swindon. I probably go through it 4/5 times a year - it's not too bad - point your car at the exit you want and go for it!

@Jourdain11 good to hear they are looking after you

Anti dementors are going to hit the shops. Who wants to come?
NothingIsWrong · 17/06/2020 23:40

And this is the version in Hemel Hempstead. Done this one twice I think, more time to think about it than the Swindon one.

Anti dementors are going to hit the shops. Who wants to come?
NothingIsWrong · 17/06/2020 23:41

Sorry that's twice a year, not twice in total!

Willow2017 · 17/06/2020 23:42

Nihiloxica
Thanks.
Didn't know that was a hug emoji either.

NothingIsWrong
Holy crap that's not a roundabout thats the 9 circles of hell! (Which looks preferable from my pov!)

PickAChew · 17/06/2020 23:49

@Dowser a few years back, when DS1 was going through an induction phase at a school near Thirsk. Dh and I made a few trips from our very foggy, that week to hot and sunny Thirsk.

That pattern stuck. The 5C temperature difference was great in winter when we had 3" of snow to their drizzle but often resulted in calls from school about him being hot and ornery in the thick, long sleeve top he'd insisted on wearing, although it was 22C at school.

PickAChew · 17/06/2020 23:49

All for 45 miles.
