This'll be thread number 13, I think.

Let's hope it's a lucky one Grin

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane

Take that back! The ‘pipes are music for the soul! 😁 not everyone’s cup of tea I know...
Sure are😄 The really lift you up. The lone piper at the end of Edinburgh Tattoo give me goosebumps.
Spudlet · 16/06/2020 17:33

@Orangeblossom78

Would be great if they could use that drug in places like India where they are overwhelmed with cases and limited in care...
As I understand it, one of its advantages is that it’s cheap so it should be accessible to as many people as possible. 👍
Nihiloxica · 16/06/2020 17:34

Oh that is shit news, SirSamuel Sad

Sorry to hear it. Good that they have caught it early. Xxx

Drivingdownthe101 · 16/06/2020 17:35

@AnxiousElephant77

Hester and IcedPurple doing an absolutely brilliant job at trying to be the voice of reason but it's clearly utterly pointless. I'm so glad I don't know anyone like this IRL because they would drain the life out of me.
Which thread is this? Or shouldn’t I venture on?
Willow2017 · 16/06/2020 17:35

@AnxiousElephant77

Oh dear god the poster on that 'we are coming out of this' and the shopping thread. Does she just roam from thread to thread looking to shoot down any possible sign of hope people have? I need a lie down.
Hell yes. Time and time again SSDD. Its like a stuck record. Nothing is ever good enough to sway her. No point in bothering.
LivinLaVidaLoki · 16/06/2020 17:35

Patrick Valance "about 6 in every 100,000 people currently have covid"
Soooooo how do people still not see this risk is TINY

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 16/06/2020 17:36

India is one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of drugs and US and Europe depends on them apparently so that and it's an old cheap drug - hopefully very good news for them.

AnxiousElephant77 · 16/06/2020 17:37

@Driving it's the one about us coming out of the end of this, with the suns or stars in the title.

I wouldn't bother.

CarrotPuff · 16/06/2020 17:38

@SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito sorry to hear about your dad, I hope it's easily treatable 💐

Just scrolled through some BBC news...

And he [BoJo] tells parents who are reluctant to send their children back, there is "no reason for your kids to miss out on their education"

Did you hit your head or something BoJo? YOU are the reason my kids are missing out on education. I would send them back to a class of 50 if I could.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 16/06/2020 17:39

When ever that poster comes on I always read her posts with the voice of Eeyore in my head.

I thought that too.

AnxiousElephant77 · 16/06/2020 17:40

I'm only reading the highlights of the briefing but it's good to see Boris thinks that we did 'turn the ride' on this in 12 weeks as he said we would.

I mean, really? Come the fuck on now.

AnxiousElephant77 · 16/06/2020 17:41

Tide. Not ride. That's a whole other issue for some.

torydeathdrug · 16/06/2020 17:42

"It is safe. There is no need for your kids to miss out on their education. I hope they will go to school."

^^ make the fucking schools open then you twat Angry

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 16/06/2020 17:43

Thanks all.

And thank you to the MNer who added the missing 'r' to my username... The Mumsnet username field is one space short!

Me too! And the long demeanour and...um...hooves of Eeyore.

I shouldn't, because she's obviously very troubled and that's a sad thing. But it's the relentless determination to bring everyone down to the same level that gets me. Thars why I lost patience. There are plenty of people on this thread who have been mentally struggling - they accept support and in turn give support. They don't try and make everyone else depressed and hopeless.

@LivinLaVidaLoki

Patrick Valance "about 6 in every 100,000 people currently have covid" Soooooo how do people still not see this risk is TINY
yes, and combined with this.... "Kohnson says two metres are more effective. But it is also his view, he says, that as the infection numbers fall, then the statistical likelihood of being next to someone with coronavirus falls. This is under constant review, he says. As the incidence of coronavirus goes down, there will be a “strong case” for changing the rule. Vallance says what the PM said was “absolutely right”. He goes on: I don’t think two metres is some absolute cut-off than ever changes2

suggest to me that the 2m rule is toast. Probably in the next week, maybe after Thursday if the next ONS weekly update on infections is down considerably again. Definitely in time for the July 4 supposed re-opening for pubs/restaurants - they need rules ASAP if that is going to work and I think it's pretty certain the Govt are now just trying to figure out the best time to announce it...

torydeathdrug · 16/06/2020 17:47

I'm always cheered by not being her! She's guaranteed to make me turn my frown upside down just to prove a point Wink

Mascotte · 16/06/2020 17:47

I find that the schools being shut is a reason for my dc to miss out on education.

BamboozledandBefuddled · 16/06/2020 17:48

I'm pretty sure that poster is a reincarnation of my gran. Gran lived with us until I was 15 - I started trying to leave home when I was 7 Grin

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 16/06/2020 17:51

I wish someone would open the schools and as soon as possible - and yes I think bloody stupid Johnson should be doing more across the UK.

Nihiloxica · 16/06/2020 17:54

If Johnson is making noise about denying children their education, then that is good news for everyone who wants their kids back.

No more plámásing the needly anxious.

(Sorry, can't think of the English word.)

torydeathdrug · 16/06/2020 17:56

I've been on mn since my eldest (now 19) was tiny ... in that time there have been (only) four* posters who have had such stunning levels of determination & commitment in their misery and complete absence of humour ... it's fascinating, they really stand out from the crowd Grin

(*I actually thought & counted up last night because they are so special)

SockYarn · 16/06/2020 17:57

According to the BNF, the cost of dexamethasone is £9.41 for 30 tablets. 31p a tablet. It's a generic, not branded medicine which has been around for ever.

It's not as cheap as something like thyroid medication or paracetamol, but compared with other drugs it's CHEAP. Lots of companies making it, like the guy said it will be stocked in all hospital pharmacies. They can start the treatmient now.

And it's prescription only, so numpties can't stockpile it.

Drivingdownthe101 · 16/06/2020 17:58

To be honest I don’t think Boris ever wanted schools to close in the first place. He bowed to public pressure.
