Please tell me how you feel about dolphins & sea-life

I'm doing some creative writing about sea-life and I would appreciate hearing about the emotional responses the different creatures evoke from you.

e.g. dolphin, orca, whale, shark, sawfish, seahorse, crab, sea-otter, octopus, eel, starfish, ray

Honestly? I don't think you'd want my answer... dolphins are horrible. I remember reading a thread on here years ago about them being rapists
It was eye opening.
Orcas eat penguins.
I love rays though.
Starfish and seahorses are nice too.

I approve of dolphins and would recommend to a friend.

I adore dolphins. I’ve swam with them several times; they’re very beautiful, very clever animals and on several occasions they have saved humans from sharks and drowning.

Dolphins are twats who use their intelligence for evil.

Eels are creepy and, in some cases, electric. They're also too similar to hagfish for my liking. Starfish regurgitate their own innards to catch prey. Orcas toss penguins around for fun. Crabs walk sideways and so obviously cannot be trusted, sidling around like bastards. Sharks inspired Baby Shark and so are terrible. Seahorses have a really vacuous expression on their stupid long faces. Otters should stick to rivers. I don't even know what sawfish are but I bet they're dicks.

Octopuses and rays are good.

Circle of life.

Seals stink. There are loads of them hanging around the harbour in Cape Town and the stench is vile - I was really taken aback. Penguins are hilarious little creatures but I like that they are faithful and loving to each other. Sea creatures in the depths of the ocean provoke a bit of awe if I'm honest - i find them fascinating and majestic. Mysterious, like.

I adore dolphins. I could watch them all day long.

Dolphins are nasty rapey bastards. People are fooled by their “smiles”. Those aren’t smiles.....

Turtles on the other hand 10/10 would recommend

I love stingrays me and partner was at the Cayman Islands and it's in the middle of the sea n they come right upto you they are soooo friendly and rub there sides on you

I'm fascinated by the deeper parts. The midnight zone and beyond. And the creatures lurking down there such as the angler fish where the females are larger and the males cannot live without biting onto a female.

Oh and the blob fish is one funky looking fish!

I love octopuses though- they're so intelligent.

I hate dolphins they are not nice creatures. They rape and kill for amusement. Look at porpoises after a dolphin has gotten hold of it.

Sting rays have barbs so they seem super cute then bam! Steve irwinned to death :(

Dolphins are amazing, you can tell that they’re actually communicating when you hear them underwater, it somehow sounds like it has more meaning than when a dog barks or something. And I love that they like to join boats and swim along with them, it’s so cute and playful.

I love starfish too, there’s something stupid but beautiful about them. Especially the fat ones.

And sharks I feel sorry for. They are completely misunderstood and children, from the earliest ages, think of them as something to be scared of. They have a reputation they don’t deserve.

I feel sorry for all sea life actually, humans treat them all like shit. That’s probably the strongest emotion that I get when I think of some of these creatures, I feel awful for the fact that we keep whales, dolphins, sharks etc in captivity. They are too intelligent for it to be anything other than pure selfish, greedy cruelty.

I have found my people regarding dolphins! DH thinks I'm weird for not trusting them and they're horrible tiny toothed smiles, and I haven't even read the rapey dolphin thread. Octopuses (octopi?), rays, crabs, sea otters and whales are awesome though.

@FlamedToACrisp People are all like 'It's so great under the sea' but the Little Mermaid hated it so much she married the first land-based tosser she came across. If someone who's half-fish hates it, I don't see how any full human can tolerate it.

Dolphins are cute and we've always got on fine. They're gentle dreamers, like me.

Fish in general are disgusting, they stink and have stupid weird scales. I hate them.

I save my most venomous feelings for sting rays who killed Steve Irwin for a laugh. It was definitely some type of ray.

Orcas are dolphins. Also called killer whale.

I remember the dolphin rape thread. Was slightly . Just to add to it. Grey whales indulge in orgies.

If you do look at human impact, please remember thatwhile plastic is bad, climate change will shit over all of it. Climate change is affecting our seas and oceans massively.

The sea is awesome. Endless possibilities.
