We’re playing on going to Norfolk, it’s not too far away, doesn’t seem to have fallen too much to the outsiders being plague ridden and most importantly step MIL lives there so we can visit her too.

DH went to see his stepmother yesterday. She’s in a sheltered accommodation flat and apparently she and some of her neighbours got busted by the police for having a “party”, which was actually a group of them sitting 2m apart having a chat in their communal garden. Apparently stepmother asked the officers if they were strippers, she’s very much growing old disgracefully Grin . The police realised straight away nothing untoward was going on and left, but who the hell calls the police on a bunch of old ladies having a coffee and natter in their own garden?

TheGreatWave · 13/06/2020 15:03

I'm not sure Norfolk want us either.

"Northumberland, but don’t tell too many people*

Still hoping our holiday goes ahead in August.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed on Friday that infection in the community had dropped to just 0.06 per cent, while 12 areas saw no new cases last week.

I want to know what "in the community" means. Does it mean altogether, or does it mean outside care homes and hospitals? Makes a big difference to the likelihood of encountering someone infectious in a shop.

Interesting Twitter thread about assessing risk by David Paton here.

Drivingdownthe101 · 13/06/2020 15:05

In the community means outside of care homes and hospitals.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 13/06/2020 15:07

community in this instance refers to private households, and it excludes those in hospitals, care homes or other institutional settings.

@Barkandcheese lockdown really has brought out the worst in some people. It's quite a funny scenario though 😂

Allflightscancelled · 13/06/2020 15:12

I've just been in our local Morrison's and although the staff are doing what they've been told the customers look like they've ceased to care too much. Far fewer masks and no slavishly following the lines on the floor either.

hester well who'd have thunk it? Relaxing the 2m rule. And after only 12 weeks too. Seems a bit hasty to me not

psychomath · 13/06/2020 15:15

Hello friends! Been avoiding these (and most) threads for the last week or two because all the speculation about schools was sending me into a tailspin of anxiety, but I've just got my boss to agree that I'll be back in for a few days before summer, and had confirmation that so far at least the plan isn't for my job to be completely obsolete next year. Phew! Still waiting for official confirmation re going in (and hoping the government doesn't change its mind another 300 times before July Hmm) but it looks like a small reprieve from my isolation might be happening sooner than I thought Smile

From what I can tell, although they've been a bit shit at communicating their plans, my school (secondary) seem to have struck a reasonable balance that's neither charging back too quickly nor caving to the staff dementors who never want us to re-open again. The management even seem to have appeased our union rep somehow, which is quite the feat.

Anyway I haven't caught up on all the threads I missed but I hope everyone is doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 13/06/2020 15:16

Well well well

But PEOPLE WILL DIE. It's not safe to stand 1m apart. Next SAGE will be saying it's ok to hug and kiss and lick other humans and then the world will truly fall apart. The only way forward is chastity, self-flagellation if you even look at another human and walking around in plastic bubbles so no one can ever touch anyone ever again.

It's the only way. Don't you care about people dying?

Wink

I managed to miss the bit about how DP and I should be having sex when we manage to meet every 10 days or so. Do we dowse our privates in Dettol and wear masks? Fully clothed or unclothed? Outdoors or in?

Or is the risk just too great?

Anal. To avoid face to face contact. I think.
Drivingdownthe101 · 13/06/2020 15:20

Outdoors. And foreplay strictly verbal, sitting 2m apart.

Orangeblossom78 · 13/06/2020 15:21

Barkandcheese we had police called on elderly neighbours in communal garden during lockdown- who said it was Ok to use.

Just seen a young couple late teens or early twenties in full face coverings walking in the park - bit of a shame I thought.

Orangeblossom78 · 13/06/2020 15:21

Pull up ones I mean not just masks

They laughed apparently. I like her too, she’s had an interesting life and takes no shit. Her first husband was an ordinary bloke when they married but he ended up being a massive star in the 1960s and promptly dumped her and their young son, her second husband died a couple of years into their marriage then she finally married DH’s dad and they moved abroad and ran a restaurant together for many years.

Moochop no daily briefing on a weekend now, apparently it's all a conspiracy to hide hospital admission figures from us (because that's what life is now, a constant watching of figures nobody gave a toss about 3 months ago)

you can see the figures on the graphs on Monday's briefing but ssh

Dowser · 13/06/2020 15:47

All flights..if I can help with cs
Please send me a pm
I’ll be brewing again today as my dd also thinks she had a kidney infection.
I think I’ve nailed it, urine clear and no longer smelly..sorry tmi.
Still got pain in my back, but other side so possibly I’ve pulled a muscle or muscle spasm..so I’ve treated myself to ibuprofen...( very rare for me)
Just spoken to her and she’s bought the vapouriser I recommended, she’s got a sinus problem . It’s good for that and I’ve been using it for pink eye and today mine are so much better.
We will get there..

Dowser · 13/06/2020 15:49

Bark ..what an amazing lady
Course you can’t tell us who her first hubby was which is a shame

rookiemere · 13/06/2020 15:53

Thatlibrarymiss I'd highly recommend Shropshire. Hopefully we'll get to the huge Ludlow holiday home we've booked to stay in with SIL and family in July. The area has lots of lovely walks and some low key National Trust places and when we've been in the height of summer holidays and Easter before, it has never been that busy. It feels like the perfect holiday hideaway under the present circumstances- wether we get there is dependent on how many families are allowed to group together by that point, although I think we could be sketchy with the owner about our origins and the rookie family breaking out of the Scottish border.

TeacupDrama · 13/06/2020 15:59

@thatlibrarymiss what about Shropshire Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Church Stretton, Long mynd hills Ironbridge outdoor museums not tourist hotspots plenty of space and quite a lot of interesting stuff Wroxeter for Roman ruins Attingham Park and various other NT places
