@rookiemere what a coincidence crosspost Grin

Allflightscancelled · 13/06/2020 16:05

Thanks DowserSmile

glotterbug · 13/06/2020 16:09

@rookiemere I grew up in Ludlow, family still live there. It's truly beautiful and so much to do in the area, perfect for biking if that's an interest.

rookiemere · 13/06/2020 16:16

Lovely to see all the Shropshire love.

The place we rent is perfect - we've been there a couple of times before and there's loads of space for everyone although we seem to acquire more people - this time a baby and a boyfriend- every time we go. There's a 6 hole golf course in the garden as well which persuades even the teens/young adults to venture outdoors.

I really hope we get to go. The rental lady has been lovely- because we've been before she has not charged a deposit. If we can't get to go we'll definitely go again at another point.

Yes SIL and BIL will probably bring their electric bikes. I'm a bit nervous about having bikes on a bike rack as feel it would make us a bit of an obvious target travelling through Scotland and across the border, but we can hire some if we fancy a cycling day out.

Laniakea · 13/06/2020 16:26

Oh yes Shropshire definitely!

rookiemere · 13/06/2020 16:28

Although we wouldn't want to cause a surge of covidiots like us flocking there and flaunting themselves around the countryside to cause an uplift to the unfathonable R rate.

BarkandCheese · 13/06/2020 16:30

@Dowser

Bark ..what an amazing lady Course you can’t tell us who her first hubby was which is a shame
He’s long dead so I think it’s okay to say the singing bus driver.
Allflightscancelled · 13/06/2020 16:35

Ohh Matt Monro (thanks Google). Lovely voice, my aunt had one of his at her funeral just before lockdown

MagdaS · 13/06/2020 16:40

I like Ludlow, it’s not that far from my mum and dad in Worcestershire. We had a very pleasant afternoon sitting outside the castle playing guess the age of the building whilst my children ran up and down in the sun.

Lancashire for a holiday. I had a great time based at the Midland in Morecambe for a couple of nights. There’s not a great deal in Morecambe, apart from a bracing walk down the seafront to the next village along (no good if you’re bored of the bastard walk) but lots in the surrounding area.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 13/06/2020 16:56

I was looking at the Landmark Trust today. It's a bit out of budget for me but they are taking bookings and there are some stunning houses for rent there. If I knew lots of people in real life I would be renting one out and having a big house party in July. It is so exciting to think of being able to holiday somewhere even if realistically that means in a tent for me.

Orangeblossom78 · 13/06/2020 16:59

That made me think of bothies and the YHA- wonder what will happen with that

Dowser · 13/06/2020 17:10

Wow..that is famous
For someone of my mums generation

I think we are going to see a lot of rules topple in the next two weeks
You read it here first.

Chatted to my friend on the phone whose daughter has been to stay and her next door neighbour, whose always been a nasty piece of work, had a good old go at her
My friend is mid 70s and vulnerable
Just awful
Anyway she has a legitimate excuse not to speak to her now

My dd went to Dunelm for new bedding for her son yesterday in the rain
There Was a queue outside
She just thought sod that, and walked straight into matalan

Vote with your feet people.

BogRollBOGOF · 13/06/2020 17:13

The only shops of interest to me are Decathlon, Go Outdoors (good for older boys t-shirts) and the local children's shoe shop.
Fortunately I don't need much and the shopping roolz are totally unappealling. The whole point of shopping on the High St is to browse, touch and try on. Being a shorty of not-average proportions and obnoxiously sized feet, trying on is essential and I refuse to waste the energy of ordering £££ of stock and returning the lot for being hopeless.

Having a much happier day today. Had a parcel of some small toys sent by mother for the DCs. Been for a forest walk in the next county. Had a BBQ. Interrupted over-the-road gardening for a chat (DC is a classmate, he's a teacher so plenty to vent about there...) and I've got a virtual murder mystery party tonight so get to wear a slinky evening dress. Much more living than the last fortnight put together!

In the absence of my osteopath it's hot bath and self massage time which helps. The cooler damp weather seems to seize me up, I was doing better when it was much lower humidity, hopefully that's on an upward swing now.

Anti-dementor rollercoaster indeed!

PickAChew · 13/06/2020 17:38

I need a trip to the Nike factory shop, at some point, as my favourite trainers for walking in are pretty much worn through.

BarkandCheese · 13/06/2020 17:42

The only shops I really enjoy browsing are charity shops. I know in theory they can open from Monday, but with them relying on volunteers many of whom are older, plus the shops themselves being fairly small I’m not holding my breath. I have promised DD a trip to the bookshop though, she’s got pocket money burning a hole and the only thing she’s really interested in buying are books.

Allflightscancelled · 13/06/2020 17:44

Ooh yes a trip to a bookshop. Nothing like it...

MinesaPinot · 13/06/2020 18:07

We’ve just had friends round for drinks in the garden AND WE HUGGED! We’ve probably murdered hundreds by now.

And you know what? It was fucking wonderful to see them.

Dowser · 13/06/2020 18:08

Anyone in middlesbrough, and likes unusual gifts, crystals , incense , oils, crystal jewellery, my lovely friend nic is opening her Alta ego store on Monday
She’ll be happy to let you browse

That’s the only mask I intend wearing
Made by the lovely Nic
( oh I do hope whitby goth festival is on this year at halloween
It’s fab if you’ve never been
She often has a stall in the pavilion)

Mascotte · 13/06/2020 18:17

I've just seen that my local "WE'RE SHIELDING BECAUSE OF MY CHILD!! YOU MURDERERS!!!" person has hosted a clearly non socially distanced birthday party for them 😂😂

justasking111 · 13/06/2020 18:32

Just won battle with OH DS and I wanted chinese he objected because they caused covid in his opinion. Told him to FO and cook his own tea, steak in fridge, chips in freezer. He has caved and wants chinese. Result...

justasking111 · 13/06/2020 18:34

All these dementors on FB. I cannot wait till the anniversaries of their facebook posts hit them in the face, what twonks they will feel every anniversary for years to come.

Allflightscancelled · 13/06/2020 18:36

Chinese all the way! Result!

And it's fab about the dementor's party. Maybe common sense is reasserting itself. Took its bloody time, though 😒

AnxiousElephant77 · 13/06/2020 18:50

Good god, I ventured into the murky waters of the 'when do you think things will go back to normal'. I need a stiff drink now. Also, for the avoidance of doubt, the answer is NEVER.

TheGreatWave · 13/06/2020 18:58

Dowser All the best to your friend, when all is calmed (the queuing and directions etc make me feel really anxious, I can cope when it is just a few shops open but more will be awful) I may well pop my head in if I am down.

Dowser · 13/06/2020 19:00

Nice one just asking
My friend who has never left the house for 13 weeks is now surprisingly quiet after a couple of trips out even today in the rain
Wonder if she’s tHinking ... why did I keep this idiocy up for so long

Can’t believe the thick fog we’ve got tonight
Can hardly see Lidl from the car window
